Holiday Inn Express Tucson-Airport

I am a Platinum Elite member and stay often at Holiday Inn Express (HIE) locations because I know what I am getting each stay. Spent 2 nights Dec 30 - Jan 1 with my teenage daughter. The staff are some of the best I have interacted with in years at a hotel. Friendly and seem to care about the guest experience. Not just 1 or 2 but all of them. Easily ranks top 2 in staff at the properties I have stayed at. The hotel itself is essentially the same as all HIE locations. Rooms are the same across the properties with a 'local' feeling to the lobby and pool. The pool was open and lobby/breakfast area clean and comfortable. The room I was in could use an update but overall I would rate it average across all the properties I have stayed at. HIE offers the same hot breakfast everywhere but does have a rotating menu for some variety on multile night stays. Is is a 5 star meal...no but it will fill you up and keep you going until lunch. I had a small billing issue that I called IHG about when I got home. I tried handling it before departure but I left very early in the morning and the front desk gal couldn't figure out what went wrong. IHG indicated I would get a call from the hotel within 48 hours. Less than 30 minutes later the General Manager of the property called me and we had the issue sorted very quickly. The error was corrected the next day on my credit card statement. I would not hesistate to stay here again.

Price wasn’t bad. As a whole the hotel looks pretty good, lobby area was nice, employees were friendly. But first I booked a double Queen and they moved my family of 4 to a single king and gave me a rollaway. At first glance the room looked ok but upon closer look it was fairly dirty. Dead bugs in all the lights, stains on the bedding, dead bug smashed on the wall, markings and dirty on the walls. Doors have a sizeable gap at the bottom and walls are thin so you hear everything. And during the 3 nights we were here people were very loud and inconsiderate of other guests, slamming doors, running down the hallway. The rollaway was completely stained over most of the bed. Over all very meh stay.

We met Alicia in the bar/restaurant and she made us the best margaritas. The dinner was good. The pizza was large and the lasagna was homemade, yummy. The room was clean and we loved the layout of this suite. We had a trailer which they accomodated us for the space. The people were so nice and helpful. If you stay here say hi to Alicia in the restaurant/bar. Oh and they have starbucks coffee and danish. Our visit was very smooth. no complaints.

The hotel is clean and the price is relatively cheap, but the breakfast is simple, mainly bread, omelettes, fruit, cakes, etc. Waffles, we won't do it ourselves. In addition, it is best not to live on the first floor. Their hotel is different from our domestic hotel. The first floor has doors in all directions, so guests can come and go at any time. Arranged for me 138 The room was right next to the door. One person who was out in the middle of the night woke up. It was difficult to fall asleep when I was on a business trip, and then I lost sleep all night. The hotel has a self-service laundry room, but don't wash the good clothes. Some of my shirts are not wrinkled. The hotel can pick up and drop off to the airport for free. The location is right next door and opposite the Hilton and Sheraton hotels. There is also a restaurant R+R Bar&Grill. It tastes good, but I don't have a single atmosphere. This hotel does not have a restaurant itself

I have been coming here on and off over 25 years our last visit was 2015 before a visit in feb of 23,and boy have things changed. We booked an all inclusive vacation. They did not have the dining staff to cover all the tables and were short staffed in the kitchen so us “all inclusive “ folks…well they just did not give us a menu. When we asked they said the kitchen was backed up 5 times we either had to ask and then be told the menu was limited or that it was unavailable.3 adults. Someone can do the math. We got locked out of the kids breakfast ride where the manager tried to tell me they called the night before. That was not true.. also all inclusive does not include tips. Which no one told us. So until we figured it out we stiffed the wait staff until we figured out it was not really “ all inclusive” and started tipping. The poor hostess had to seat us,fold napkins and silverware, fill the buffet table, and finally check the refreshments leaving lines at every station with people waiting to have the food refilled or be seated. On a positive the riding program has really improved in how it’s organized and most important safety. The “lope” test used to be hang on while loping up the line. Not anymore. You need to be able to sit the trot stop on command and lope quietly all with true western riding with one hand. No posting ! The lope ride that I got out on was super fun and fast. I think TVGR is trying to be everything to everyone. Given we did not get our “included” meals and activities. When we spoke to the manager they did not offer any restitution for failing in their all inclusive. There are other family owned Ranches that we are going to try. Things change and we most likely will not be back. Our first visit was when Bob & Rita got married and had cake down in the cottonwoods, we must have visited over 15 times. It’s sad when a family business becomes a corporate property.
