Twizel Holiday Park

Good points - hot showers. Level areas with grass matting. Close to town. Bad points The toilet/shower block is poorly lit and smells. Not at all pleasant. Laundry only one washing machine operating all others and all dryers out of order. Not good enough when you are paying $48 a night for a powered site. If facilities are not available you should be offered a discount. I would not recommend this park.

Tried to book for 2 nights on a powered site. They don't answer their phone (same blunt message on voicemail), tried over several days. Emailed, no response even 5 days later. Non existent communication. We took our business elsewhere 290 minutes away to a delightful town O.... , lovely people, spotless campground.

Arriving around 3pm, the check-in lady was annoyed when I turned up because she wanted to go on her late lunch break. She quickly took the money and showed on the site map where our site was. We booked and paid for a non powered site but we were given a powered site. I'd normaly be happy with this, but the site was just a dusty space. I wasn't expecting green grass, brown dried grass would have been fine. Attached photos. Everything in our caravan awning got covered in dust. I realise the management can't stop the wind but this is not a site worth paying for. It's what you'd expect if your late in to a freedom camping spot. It was also extremely narrow to get the caravan into. No playground or anything for kids. Wifi is awful. Alot of signs with rules everywhere. They also write on the sign the punishment if the rules are broken, and that security cameras watching. Just what you like to read as you go in for your shower. My wife talked to a staff member when they were finally cleaning the bathrooms after leaving their dirty cleaning rags in one of the three sinks available for around 15 hours. The lady didn't care about any of the issues, apparently we booked late and thats why we got that spot. She said they have lots of good reviews. She said she'd let the manager know and they'd come visit us. We never saw anyone. Don't waste your money here.

Planning for a track to Mt Cook we decided to stay 2 nights at Twizel Holiday Park. However - the room lay-out was very inconvenient! Main issue we had was a power cut in the night but even at 7-8-9 am nobody from the holiday park was svailsble - even by phone sending an urgent message as it became very cold etc. We left and heard power was back 11:40 am . For making coffee the water cooker could not be filled under the tap . It needs a great makeover in my opinion as the price was also high

over billing booked a cabin and was billed for twice the amount on booking when inquired why was sent an abusive reply email this place is a scammer and con do not trust avoid at all cost as I will do

Cold and bathroom did smell like urine. Also after we checked in we went out fishing and locked the door behind us. When we arrived home found the room was unlocked our curtains pulled and heat pit turned right down.

The staff were very friendly and overall you get what you pay for. The unit was small with nothing extra included. A bonus was the communal kitchen so we had access to utensils and washing up facilities. It's an easy drive to Mt Cook NP and to Lake Tekapo.

We stayed in a private room which was very spacious and clean but the TV didn't work, the WiFi in our room was terrible and the kitchen was too small for the number of people trying to use it. Plenty of free parking available on site. Within walking distance to Countdown. It was fine for a one night stay.

A friendly place although you hardly saw anyone around. Nice, clean, and comfortable but there were a few oddities--one of which was there were no handles or latches on our windows, but we were told they had just completed some painting around the place. Hot and cold water was odd simply back to front on sevel basin tabs we used. No shampoo but there was a tiny bar of soap for the basin and shower perhaps forgotten. And an electric outlet was dead centre behind the pillows on this double bed. Other than that we had a nice size room and a relaxing time with virtually no one around.
