The pillows are rock hard as are the beds not the place to stay if you have any health issues. The staff are unfriendly and not very helpful, we only met a few who were cheerful and seem to be enjoying working at the hotel. The leisure facilities are a trip around the car park to enter the leisure facilities as long as you have booked. A member of staff on reception did not like anyone asking questions about the pool, she rudely interrupted her colleague as to why I was asking about the pool depth and access. I have a spinal condition which can affect my ability to stand, that was why I was asking, she was just rude throughout our stay. Don’t expect to experience fine dining as the meals were nothing spectacular, although I must say the lemon tart was very lemony, no room service order and collect it yourself. Unfortunately the staff and lack of a warm welcome lets the hotel down as does the rather drab entrance to the hotel and reception area, which considering the age and grandeur should wow you as you enter, especially as this is December and the large Christmas just stood on its own. The house its self is beautiful and worth visiting, as is the setting unfortunately it just lacks the wow factor that makes you want to return. Not one I will be recommending to my friends and over seas family.

This review is about the HOTEL and hotel ROOM we stayed in only - the lodge in the hotel grounds we were moved to after 2 hideous nights was fabulous - clean, fresh and fully equipped (and we had no complaints either about the scaffolding which entirely covered the Manor House building but only showed that some external maintenance at least was underway) So, the room (which we were expected to stay a week in) ... was utterly shocking. When we'd signed up for our CLC Trial Membership we had been promised that we would have 5 holidays where the last thing we needed to worry about would be the standard of our accommodation, since we had purchased 5 weeks of ‘luxury accommodation’. Other CLC holidays have (or have almost) matched up to that promise, but the hotel room we were allocated at Trenython Manor would barely have passed muster as 2 star budget accommodation. After our first 2 nights there, when we’d hardly slept at all due to what sounded like someone banging a metal pipe on a dustbin lid every few seconds throughout the night (which on investigation turned out to be caused by a gate at the top of the scaffolding outside our room, which had been left open and was swinging to and fro in the high wind and constantly banging against the metal scaffolding), we'd asked at the hotel reception for a room change - and were moved to one of the aforementioned lodges for the rest of our stay. But the room ... well, there was absolutely no way we could have spent a week in that room – even without the disturbed sleep – because it was tiny, shabby, ill-equipped and very, very dirty as evidenced by the attached photographs. IF you need to stay in the area be sure to book a LODGE rather than a room!

They will serve you food from bookers while charging you extreme amounts of money, the people who have just taken over are making majority of there staff redundant not to mention they buy there items from “temu” which is a slave laboured ran business if you do visit here remember you’ll be sleeping on slave laboured made bed sheets and being served by silenced staff, The manager Selim compares young girls “prettiness “ and makes comments such as “if you were my age i’d be dating you” and “you’ll never be as pretty as her” experience this ran down business at your own accord

Being a local to Trenython we use it a lot..or should I say used to. After today's shambolic visit I doubt we will ever go there again. Arrived at 11.30 with a friend for Lunch turned right at reception went into the bar to find an empty restaurant with a member of staff filling up the glasses behind the bar, stood there and actually had to make a noise to get her attention we asked if we are OK for lunch she said have you booked we said no she replied name ! ( great start) bearing in mind the place was empty we were offered a seat then we were told if your ordering a hot drink we havnt got much milk !!! ( really) we sat down drinks came no sugar..sugar came no brown..brown arrived we were give a menu with 3 choices of mains and loads of salad, we asked what was the soup of the day, reply was we dont do soup at dinnertime....sadly at that point we had enough and while at the table we booked a table at the Rasliegh at charlestown for 12.30 and left without a word being Said to us as to why we were leaving. GOOD LUCK FOR THE FUTURE Locals are every day customers not just summer trade.

Booked a night away for my daughters hen night with 6 close friends. Wanted a lovely meal and a relaxing stay to pamper her. Firstly the accommodation was beautiful had 2 lodges, extremely clean and lovely views. Sadly, that was the only good experience. Booked lunch, spa and evening meal weeks in advance and paid extra for a late checkout. On arrival I paid in full. Staff in bar on arrival were too busy having a disagreement and didn’t even acknowledge us (we were the only ones stood waiting). After a while got served and had drinks on the lovely terrace. Went for lunch where we waited approx 45 minutes for our food to arrive. We only ordered light bites and no full meals. One didn’t arrive until 30 minutes after everyone else finished. Asked for drinks, took another 20 mins. After this went to pool area.. very nice and clean. Came back to hotel for evening meal, restaurant was busy and was told by waitress probably better to order drinks and food at same time as they had a new computer system and only one barman! Ordered drinks and some water for table. Nothing arrived for 30 mins so I went to bar to just ask for some water. Barman huffed and said only had 1 jug left! I asked if I could please take that myself as we were all thirsty, food then arrived, still no drinks. So I went back to bar after another 20 mins, again grumpy barman moaned as we had asked for 2 aperol spritz and he’d run out of aperol. By that stage I just said we would have anything! Waitress was busy and said other guests needed serving before us, making us feel very low down on the list even though we arrived before them. After we had finished and others had left she realised it was a special occasion and offered us 1 glass of Prosecco to make up for waiting .. between 7 of us! We commented that was a bit tight so she then offered us a bottle! When bill came we were overcharged by £40 for swimming?! I questioned this and it was a mistake by new system! We were going to stay later for drinks, but decided it wasn’t very welcoming, so went back to the lodge and had a lovely evening. At 9am both lodges received phone calls to ask for proof of payment of accommodation as they clearly lost this… on the new system! Not great when we wanted a (paid for) lay in and being accused of not paying! On checkout produced the receipt to the apologetic receptionist (who was the nicest member of staff there). The Manager was called and agreed this hadn’t been a good one night stay for a bride to be and our experience was not as it should have been. She said she would give us a part refund as ggw but as the “new system” wouldn’t let her do it there and then, would contact us the next day to sort this. Yesterday was the first email I had received after 2 months and me contacting them 4 times, from the food and beverage manager, saying they gave us a bottle so that was enough!! All I wanted was a relaxing night for my daughter and friends, not a Fawlty Towers night with rude staff! Sha

Lovely hotel and location. Staff are very friendly and the food in the restaurant is good. However we booked this hotel because it had a swimming pool and gym, which were important to us. After we booked we received a message to say that the pool would be closed for most of our stay. Why this was not on the website beforehand is not known. We were told that we could use the pool at a local hotel, 2 miles away. On arrival we were told that the gym was not available either - we had not been informed of this at all. We were told that we could use the gym at the other hotel - on enquiry we discovered that the other hotel doesn't have a gym! Generally the communication about the closures was very poor and the attitude was 'we are sorry' but basically it meant 'tough'. Staff clearly aren't given discretion to appease guests - no offer of recompense at all. Finally - the room was lovely. It was clearly designed for wheelchair users. However there are a lot of steps down from reception so wheelchair users would have to go down a long path to the back of the room. The back door to the room was not wide enough for a wheelchair, and there was a step! It really doesn't feel as though the hotel wants to be accessible.

Really loved this place, the lodge we stayed is was massive and comfortable, the grounds are lovely and the woodland play area was a huge hit with our daughter. The swimming pool is lovely bub you have to book a slot and there are only two showers and two changing rooms, this prooved ot be a bit of an issue as everyone was leaving after the one hour slot and there were lots of people standing about in a small space waiting to shower and get changed which made it quite stressful overall. However can't fault the holiday as a whole and would definitely visit again.
