The service was very good

We had a very nice experience here. Service was considerate and personal, the room was clean and comfortable and the meal was very solid. The set up is a little bit like a cross between a hotel and a ryokan. You have complete privacy in your room and you eat in their dining room, but the meals are fixed. It was unfortunately raining when we were there, but the grounds are stunning too. The overall decor of the hotel is more contemporary than traditional. One thing to know is that in Japanese inns, meal times are set with a couple options in a narrow window. Because we were running late, we were scheduled to arrive around 7pm which is the last starting time they are able to accommodate normally. However, when we called, they were very understanding, offering a start time as last as 7:30pm and wishing us safe travels.

You can see the garden from the lobby and the rooms, and it's very beautiful. As expected, the water in Unzen is great! After a bath, your hair and skin will be smooth. The food was delicious and there was a wide variety at breakfast, so I was very satisfied. The rice was also delicious! The only disappointment was that there were few types of sake. They only had Nagasaki sake. For hot sake, they had Rokujuyoshu, but the cold sake was not so good. I would definitely like them to have Rokujuyoshu Junmaishu and Junmai Ginjo. I would like to stay at this inn again.

I stayed here for several nights at the end of the year. As a result, I was not able to have a satisfactory stay. It was recognized as a long-established luxury inn that will reopen on December 15, 2022. The building is certainly new, and since it was a premium suite, it had a semi-open-air bath. I decided on a suite because there was also a lounge that was limited to 7 suites. The selling point of the suite lounge was the upscale atmosphere created by the fire, but on the second day there was no fire at that time. Tea time is just a coffee machine and dry goods. Bar time is sparkling wine, red and white wine, and dry drinks. During the two days, I only met one other customer. I guess everyone feels that it cannot be called a lounge. There's no benefit to me since I can't drink coffee. When I informed them, a plastic bottle of water was left for the next day. That's the extent of the response. You should learn what a suite lounge is like at other luxury hotels and inns. There were times when the shops were closed despite the opening hours. I was also looking forward to the bar lounge and tea lounge, but when I opened the lid, I was told that they weren't open yet. This was also a criterion for choosing an accommodation, but it is still in a state that cannot be called a grand opening. It's like a scam. The taste of the food was neither good nor bad. On the first day, the customer service was poor and I felt like I was in a pub. It wasn't worth the price. From the 2nd day after the complaint, we changed to a firmer response. At dinner on the first day, something that wasn't on the menu suddenly appeared. The first explanation was that the ingredients were not available due to the snow, but when I asked the proprietress, she informed me that the menu had changed since that day. The first explanation was a lie. The ingredients are covered in everything from abalone to fish to vegetables. It's just one meal. Although the quality of the spring water in the semi-open-air bath in the room is good, the bathtub is so small that you can hardly take a bath by yourself. I don't understand the concept at all. Also, the temperature of the water is not stable, and I feel it fluctuates between 38℃ and 45℃. It was on the second night that things stabilized. One of the causes of these dissatisfaction is the lack of information dissemination. On the inn's website, there is almost no information about the rooms, facilities, meals, services, etc. The linked blog has not been updated since the completion ceremony was uploaded on October 24th. Also, SNS linked on the HP. There is almost no posting on Facebook or Twitter. In this day and age, customers first look for information when choosing a place to stay. There have been almost no reviews on accommodation sites since the reopening. It's a devastating situation. At that time, I mentioned SNS, etc., but the woman who answered the phone laughed and said, ``We don't have any staff.'' By the way, I haven't received a reply to this review yet. I believe that another reason is the management. This shows that customer service education is not standardized. What's more, I felt that the proprietress' response was a one-sided attempt to evade responsibility. The staff. Apart from serving on the first day, everyone was working really hard. For their sake, I think it is necessary to look back on the current situation and live up to the name of a high-class ryokan from the customer's perspective. I did not dare to request a discount this time, but the discrepancy between the price and the service was very large. I love the hot springs in Unzen and decided to visit it right away. The quality of the hot spring water was still very good. Dinner was Japanese food, but with a French feel.
