Stayed here for 2 nights to experience the wonderful Murudeshwar location and the grand architecture. This place has a monopoly advantage since there is practically no other decent hotel in this area, plus it has an unmatched sea facing location. Pros 1. Location, location, location: There would be very few properties in India that offer such unmatched, unhindered views of the sea and the beach. Coupled with the Raja Gopuram view this is unparalleled. One would chose this hotel despite it's other shortcomings just because of this. If one has stayed at sea facing properties like Taj Lands End, this view would beat them. Our rooms had a great L-shaped balcony to get a panoramic view of the sea and the beach. 2... Nothing else really. :) Cons 1. Maintenance: Keeping a property on the shore well maintained is difficult due to the high humidity effect from the sea. This property has a damp, stinking feeling everywhere including the rooms. Also the furniture, walls etc have worn down. Hygiene isn't great either. Overall it is not a pleasant feeling to stay here if you are used to staying in clean, high-end places. 2. Food: It is very average and you wouldn't enjoy the dining experience here. Is just enough to fill your stomach for the day with something edible. Overall, this hotel is such a wasted opportunity. Any other major hotel chain such as Hyatt, Westin etc. would have milked this location and created a world class hotel experience. Sadly, the ***agement of this hotel is amateurish and they haven't invested in maintaining and upgrading. If you are ok to compromise on hygiene just to experience the sea view then go for it, or else avoid.
