Our first impression of this hotel was before we arrived and unfortunately was not very good. As we would be arriving early with 2 very small children I emailed asking for the possibility of an earlier check in (was more than happy to pay for this). I was simply told “check is at 4” - not a reply to what I actually asked. I also sent another email asking if they could help arrange us a taxi to pick us up from the airport as with our little ones we’d need specific taxis that have child seats. They replied telling me they couldn’t help me with this request either. So we hadn’t even arrived yet and already had the impression that staff at this hotel didn’t want to be helpful. This unhelpful attitude was confirmed when we arrived. We got to the hotel around 11:30 (after check out time) and knew it would be unlikely that the room would be ready. We asked if our room could please be prioritised to be cleaned being that we had 2 very tired little girls having been up since 3am. The lady behind the desk told us to come back after 2pm and hopefully it should be. We went off to explore and came back at 2:30 and was told the room still wasn’t ready. We decided to wait in the lobby as our children were shattered and they quickly fell asleep. To then see many other people arrive and be given their room keys was really quite upsetting whilst we were sat there with sleeping children, prams and luggage. Why they couldn’t have kindly asked the cleaner to prioritise cleaning our room was beyond me and clearly shows no compassion for tired and upset little children. When we finally got the room itself it was nice and clean, but certainly not perfect. We had a coffee machine and a kettle but no where to plug it in. We had to carry the coffee machine around the room to the bedside table just to plug it in. No full length mirror in the room. Also, the sound proofing in the room is terrible. We could hear every move from the people above us including every time they flushed the toilet and turned on the shower. Further to this, once in the room and finally relaxing, an hour or so later a lady (who I think was a cleaner??) bursts into our room! The location of the hotel is good for the city of arts and sciences but quite a long walk into the centre of town. There are a lot of different bus routes around the area though so you can get to anywhere using those. The best thing about the hotel was most definitely the breakfast. Such a great selection and all really fresh and tasty. Our girls also enjoyed splashing around in the kids pool. If our stay at this hotel at not got off to such a negative start, perhaps the small things like the imperfections in the room wouldn’t have bothered us so much. Hopefully the staff will learn to be a bit more compassionate and sympathetic to guests needs, especially those travelling with little children.
