This is one of the Top 5 hotels we've stayed at anywhere in the world. From arrival by sleek boat, making you feel like James Bond, to the sprawling property, which is reminiscent of a tropical island, to the remarkably attentive staff, this is the only place to stay when visiting Venice. It is a short 20-minute boat ride to St. Mark's Plaza from the hotel. The hotel's rooftop restaurant offers one of the best views of Venice from across the water and the staff is ready with blankets(!) when the sun goes down. For families, there is a family pool (located smartly away from the main hotel) with a nearby splash pad area, rope-treehouse and activities ranging from outdoor movie night to archery. There is a poolside restaurant and bar at the family pool. The rooms are elegant and spacious. Best of all is the staff. Remarkable to a person. Especially for us was Mateo, a native Venetian rich with restaurant and gelato recommendations, and who instantly and cheerfully accommodated every request. He will be running his own luxury hotel before long.
