The hotel has three great ingredients: small, hard to get to (dirty road for 20 min from main road) and (beach) luxurious. Don’t believe the bad service reviews: the staff is great: dedicated, fun and very sweet. Still the pace of service is Mexican which does invite the wise to relax! The hotel is overdue a refurbishment but in a shabby chic way! We had an amazing time swimming in the pool while looking at the pristine and wild sea (no swimming in the warm sea - dangerous). Food was very good! It is a little piece of paradise!

We stayed there in May of 2023. TERRIBLE ! One bad experience after the other. Let me start by saying that it has been one of the most expensive hotels i've ever stayed in Mexico ($650 a night). To put things in perspective, i visit Los Cabos at least 2-3 times a year and i've stayed in very high-end resorts there and other places in the country. That being said, let me get started... When we checked-in they insisted to CHARGE (not hold) about $3,000 usd to my Credit Card for incidentals. If not needed they would "be reimbursed to my CC 20-30 business days later"!!!!! I went to the restroom and to my surprise there's no water to wash my hands, i asked to enter the ladies restroom and was told to try the one at the spa. No luck. After i insisted they finally let me go into the ladies room just to find out there was no water there either. So finally they decided to provide me with a bucket of water to wash my hands. That's not what you would expect from a $650-a-night "hotel" but i figure it was just an unlucky moment. Our room was not ready at the time of check-in so we went to the restaurant to eat something, then got change in the bathroom and headed to the pool. The beach of the hotel has a red flag most of the year (if not all year) so you can't risk getting into the Ocean... too rough and dangerous. At the pool we found out there's only one bartender and ONE server attending the tables at the restaurant, the lounge chairs at the pool and the lounge chairs at the beach. So we had to wait between 40 minutes and 1 hour every time we needed to order anything from them. Same time frame to wait for him to bring the order. Temperatures fluctuated between 90-100 so all cocktails and iced drinks arrived melted down and diluted. After the first couple of attempts to drink something we just opted to order a bottle of Mezcal so we didn't have to be ordering individual drinks and wait so long for them. Finally the room was ready... the AC was NOT WORKING!!! I called the Front Desk to say that was unacceptable and they claim both, the water in the bathroom and the AC were due to a loss of power from the night before so their emergency generator only provided power for the basic needs. Again, not what you would expect from a $650-a-night. They never fixed the AC and the temperature was unbearable so they ended up sending cooling towers to the room, which made it as noisy as you can imagine. Both the noise and the heat made it very difficult to enjoy a good night sleep. The room has hand-made wooden sliding doors that don't shut completely so we had a few lizards, spiders and other insects inside the room. Based on our experience, if the room was $50 a night, i would still not go back to that place.

Hotel Escondido is really really amazing but unfortunately we had money stolen from our room around $200 usd which isn't much but should never have happened in the first place. Front desk staff are not fluent in English and while we tried our best to speak in Spanish, the language barrier was tricky. We're covered in mosquito bites and the AC is mediocre.

The hotel is well located on the beach, but the accommodation is very outdated. Staff is substandard and concierge Angel Morales is rude and rude to say the least. Restaurant sucks. Food fat poisoning from a hamburger. In short, worthless hotel.

The place is really amazing. Small secluded hotel nicely designed in a beautiful spot. The rooms are nice, the pool in front of the beach is outstanding and the overall atmosphere is really relaxing. Staff is very (very) hardworking and nice. Sofia at the front desk helped us arrange everything (Wabi house visit, taxis, bikes, everything!). She is amazing. When we got to the hotel I had a room next to the kitchen which was a bit noisy in the morning when the kitchen staff prepared breakfast, not too much, just a bit. Since I enjoy waking up late, I mentioned it to Sofia who immediately changed the room and offered a complimentary massage. These are the small things that show true care for customers in hotels. Mil gracias Sofi! The massage was amazing btw, kudos to the masseuses as well! Staff at the restaurant/ bar were also amazing. Smiling the whole day and night every day (believe me these guys work really hard!). Very knowledgeable about the food, drinks they served and always had great recommendations I fully recommend the hotel, the place is really nice, great food, location is excellent (I saw whales from the hotel pool!) and the staff are devoted to making you feel at home. One side comment, there is a Japanese restaurant which is part of the same group, but not in the hotel. Kakurega Omakase. Skip that. Service in the restaurant is appalling, food average and the overall atmosphere is not engaging at all. The restaurant team should learn from the hotel team in terms of focusing on customer experience Stay at hotel Escondido, you will have a great experience

The cabins are very spacious and comfortable. The private pool in each cabin is very good. The garden they have, full of bees and butterflies, is beautiful. I think the cuisine leaves something to be desired in terms of being able to include more typical dishes from Oaxaca and including a slightly more abundant breakfast. Sometimes pool service is not available.

I went with my wife on our honeymoon trip. Both the photos that appear on Instagram and on the internet are fantastic, everything seems like it is going to be great and that it is a great hotel, but after being there I can only say that it is a scam (you pay 500 euros per night...) We arrive and they tell us that we have breakfast included, but that only yogurt and fruit are included. While waiting for them to give us the room, the common area is neglected, the pool furniture is old and unmaintained, the pool is dirty, more than a pool it is stagnant water. The air conditioning does not work in the room, but even if it worked well it would not cool the room since the walls are not completely closed. The pool in the dirty room (a little less than the common one but dirty). We talked to reception about the heat we were experiencing and they sent us a cooler, which didn't help much, just to fill the room with one more piece of junk. The gels and shampoos that you use in the shower (without pressure) are used and old. Remember that we are paying 500 euros a night..... Later at dinner they told us that we had three starters and three seconds to choose from, but when we arrived they only had a starter and a second, due to lack of staff.... The night It was horrible, bugs and lizards everywhere, suffocating heat. The next day we decided to leave immediately. The only good thing was that they gave us our money back. In short, 500 euros per night is a scam.
