Gorgeous setting overlooking the river, oak trees changing colour, surrounded by birdsong. Best bed away from home I think we have slept in, closed combustion fireplace and electric blankets in the room. Everything impeccably maintained, great hosting by Fay & Collin, super breakfast. Highly recommend.

We recently stayed at the Wetlands Country House and Sheds in Wakkerstroom, ZA as part of a birdwatching (and mammals and reptiles and nature) tour. Our room was very comfortable and well-appointed. It had a full kitchen, full living room, a very comfortable bed with a firm mattress, a large bathroom with both a tub and separate shower, and other amenities. The breakfast was very good with made to order eggs. i had a large and delicious omelet. The hosts were very helpful and generous. They found us a nice restaurant in town for dinner as well. The grounds were very nice and had some duikers and many birds on the property. The Wakkerstroom wetlands were very close, so we could have walked to the wetlands hide easily. It is a great place to stay in an important birding area!

Our stay at Wetlands was one of the best we have experienced in self catering accommodation. The cottage is spacious and beautifully furnished; the bathroom has a lovely walk in shower and deep claw bath with complimentary bath salts provided for a lovely soak. The kitchen is exceptionally well equipped. Throughout the cottage we found helpful messages that remove uncertainty by explaining what to use, and how to do it. The setting near the river and looking up to the ridge is peaceful and expansive - all you can hear is nature. Although we went out bird watching we could have simply sat on our verandah and waited as they all came to visit :-)

This place is beautiful , peaceful , and tranquil .... Collin and Vy are extremely , amazing good hosts !!!! Our room , overlooking the dam , is really comfortable , with spacious bathroom and excellent bed and a bonus , the fire place . Very private and excusive ..... a must do !!!

Beautiful stay with friends for a weekend getaway. Gardens had amazing flowers in bloom and the birds to wake you up in the morning. Rooms were so cozy and the beds were very comfortable! Breakfasts were fabulous and staff very friendly.

Just the most stunningly beautiful, homey, comfortable bed and breakfast. Romantic even when you're solo. Delightful fireplace, electric blankets, claw foot bathtubs, amazing views, divine service and truly yummy breakfast. The hosts are warm and attentive and nothing is too much. I will definitely be back!

A Beautiful place designed in good taste , delicious breakfast and wonderful hospitality. I Highly recommend staying at the place. The owners are very friendly and helpful and the surrounding area is beautiful with walking trails and birdwatching options.

Yet another awesome stay at this lovely country guesthouse. Fay and Colin are the perfect hosts - very warmly welcoming, and attending to every detail with utmost care and professionalism. This is our favourite countryside getaway destination, and staying at Wetlands Country House and Sheds is the reason we return everytime. Keep up the good work!!
