Courtyard New Haven Wallingford

It’s all relative. If this was an Econolodge charging $79/night this is a three or perhaps even four star rating. The property is fairly clean, the people were nice and competent. There are some nice amenities like an in-house bar and sundries market. The problem is the name outside says Marriott (Courtyard by Marriott, to be more accurate) and by that scale this place is a dump. Speaking of dumps, who thought brown was a good color for the carpet? Maybe because it’s in the bathroom the designer had a subconscious idea to color match. On the plus side, the bed was comfortable and there is a desk (I’m using right now). The sofa forced me to drink another beer first so I could connect with my old college days and not worry about anything that lingers in the fabric, also a brownish/rust colored wonder. I tried watching the TV but it appears to be an original flat screen from sometime in the G.W. Bush administration so I couldn’t see anything and reverted to my iPad. Back to the positive, there’s a microwave and a minifridge, though you would need to bring your own water as there’s none provided. WiFi is solid and the blackout curtains blackout the light. Oh, and the people were very polite and competent, a saving grace.

I was extremely happy and impressed with this hotel in every regard. Cleanliness, comfort, breakfast options, convenience etc. Everything was perfect. We were checked in by Carla who was incredibly friendly and helpful. Big shoutout to Carla and thanks to the entire staff!
