Comfort Inn Waterloo

It was a pretty good experience to stay there me and for my girlfriend

We came from out of province with our family to settle our son into the University of Waterloo, and it was an educational experience of itself. The hotel was full with resident families and had food delivery services coming to each door regularly, with a mobile community health covid-testing presence. Despite this, no one wore masks & kids ran all over the hotel, with perpetually smelly garbage in the halls waiting for someone to pick it up. Our room was clean but smelled heavily of disinfectant, and only after we checked in were we informed of no housekeeping services whatsoever. Our friendly front desk manager cheerfully noted that this was ‘going to be just fine’. The location was a sketchy walking distance to fast food restaurants. It was unacceptable to us that we were deliberately uninformed prior to our arrival. They seemed to understand our need to find appropriate accommodations and gave is no grief in checking out early. Roll the dice & check it out for yourself.

I was in the process of moving and needed a place to stay for one night I selected the Comfort Inn on Weber street in Waterloo . I arrived at 6:30, checked in paying an additional $100 deposit on a room that had already cost me +$190, and went to put my luggage into my room. I had to find my way through hallways littered with empty food boxes, and unmasked children running freely through the hallway, There were no vehicles in the parking lot, which didn't make sense with the numbers of youngsters roaming the halls. I walked to a nearby restaurant, told my server of my experience at the Comfort Inn and he informed that I was staying at a Homeless Shelter. I returned to the Comfort Inn and informed the attendant that I would not be staying, as no one had told me that I was at a homeless shelter and was informed that the Inn was not a Homeless Shelter, but a Refugee Shelter. Again, I suggested that I should have been informed of this fact before checking in so I could decide if I wanted to stay or find alternate accommodations. I think it is commendable that the Inn is offering shelter to homeless individuals or refugee families, but I believe the Inn has an obligation to let prospective customers know how the Inn is being used. There was no offer of a refund for a room I did not use, and I can assure that Comfort inns will not be an inn I use in the future.
