I was so impressed with the reception staff, who were friendly, accommodating and professional. Claudia and Ella went out of their way to help, and did it with a smile. Claudia met us to drop off a key for the car park, which was very thoughtful as my mother can't walk far these days. Our room is lovely, so central, modern and fresh. Great to just step out the door, and be so close to the shops and other activities...its just a hop skip and a jump from the cable car. Given the 5 star treatment we've received, I would definitely stay here again, when next visiting Wellington. I will also consider booking a Quay hotel when traveling around NZ. Thanks again to Ella and Claudia!

This place was booked by a family member for the criteria of being cheap and close to the CBD. The location was excellent and could not really fault that. The parking was a bit variable with lots of free metered parks when we arrived on Xmas Day but found it hard to find one during the late afternoons and had to park in adjacent streets on some days. The parking garage options were also a bit pricey. As we arrived on Xmas Day, no one assisted us with our luggage so we took it upon ourselves to get a luggage trolley and go up the lifts to our rooms. Passageways leading to the rooms were a bit narrow. The key access was fine although the door strike plate was hanging on by a single screw and looked like it would fall off anytime soon. The rooms were small, functional with a sofa bed that gave me a slightly sore back in the morning. The main bedroom had a queen bed which was nice. Kitchen facilities were adequate. Room service was a bit lacking - on our 3 night stay, the room was only cleaned on the second morning and we only had 2 towels for the 4 of us initially. The bathroom was really cramped and uncomfortable. Did not try the washer dryer. The views were reasonable - mainly of buildings across the street. Wifi access was rather sporadic. Overall I would only recommend this to people on business for a maximum of 2 nights. Not really designed for families.

We stayed at this hotel when visiting Wellington. (Rm705) The staff were friendly and helpful. The foyer and corridors looked tired and in need of refurbishment. We stayed on the top floor overlooking a side street. The room was clean well appointed and of a good size. The beds were comfortable and the shower had a good pressure. Car parking was limited and a tight squeeze to get in. We could have done with double glazing windows as we did have some street noise from rowdy people. The restaurant at the hotel needed to display More Gluten Free Options as this prevented us eating there. Al's Top Tips Ask for a room not over looking Willis Street. Take a good umbrella / waterproof clothing as it rains alot here and can be quite windy.

The name of the hotel is known locally as MAUMI hotel, and the name on this site did not convey it. It feels like the old building is being carefully used, and the stairs and elevators are old. Even though it was a four-story building, it was taller around here, and the floors of each floor were spread out vertically and horizontally. The former CUBA street is the busiest downtown area, with many restaurants, shops, and cafes. The room faced the street, but the weekend noise disappeared by 12:00 and we had a quiet night. Until 8 o'clock in the morning of the holiday, the car was hardly running.

We had no view from the room on this one but location-wise, the Q is excellent. It is on the main street making it the ideal base to explore Wellington. It is a tiny, sleepy city so it was good to be in the heart of it, although there is no little late-night supermarket (after 10) handy! Our room is pretty spacious with two double beds with a long desk/dressing table (for displaying all the 40th birthday cards) with a couple of comfy chairs alongside the desk chair. There’s good lighting all-round plus spare bedding in the cupboard. We didn’t get to use the kitchenette in our time although having a fridge is essential to me. In addition, there is an ironing board, hairdryer and kettle amongst the home comforts. Storage-wise there are about 8 quality wooden hangers in a single wardrobe and sufficient shelving and drawers to look after us for four nights. The bathroom has a good size bath with jets and the all-important heated towel rail so we didn’t need to have them changed. The service was great and on the other side of the hotel, we had use of coin-operated washing machine and dryer and were able to buy a small laundry detergent box from reception.

This hostel is right in the city center, there is a grocery store across the road, and it is a few minutes walk to the Papa Museum. The whole hostel and our room were very clean. We were impressed with the fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, and we felt great with a hairdryer and a straight hair stick in the ladies bathroom. The staff was friendly and you could still have a very affordable breakfast at the hostel. When you are in Wellington, we definitely recommend you to stay at this hotel.

I don’t normally like to stay at this hotel but decided to give it another go as I do like the location and views from the harbour view rooms. Mistake. The room was well over-priced at $340 for the night and the service was poor at every step of the way. Parking is limited, tight and if it is raining, you can get quite wet if parking across the road. If parking, there is no way to enter the hotel as the door at the car park side requires a room key to access. Impossible when you haven’t yet checked in. I rang the bell for service several times with no response. I eventually knocked on the door when a staff member saw me, she let me in and promptly turned her back without acknowledging me. Reception is actually 7 floors down but this staff member certainly wasn’t going to tell me that. After checking in, and paying $25 to park across the road, I was then told to put a pass on my dashboard. Yep, they have all the vehicle details from check in, but insist on you then going up 7 floors, and walking out of the hotel and across the road to put the pass on the dash otherwise you risk being towed! Reception already has all the details. This all took longer because one of the two lifts was out of service. Check previous reviews - this is not new. I thought I’d go to he bar for a drink after this however it was closed to the public for a private function and I was told I could not be in that area. At this point I decided to go elsewhere for dinner. On exiting the one lift that was working, it was blocked by a vacuum cleaner that had been placed across the lift door by a staff member. I chose to eat breakfast elsewhere and got out of there as soon as I could. I used the express checkout - but never received a GST invoice / receipt. I had to follow that up also. I stay in hotels regularly for business - it won’t be this one again. No part of this experience was well executed. I advise businesses on how to deliver a great customer experience. This hotel is a case study in how not to do it and that is the only thing that I am grateful for from this visit.

I have stayed in this wonderful establishment at least twice a month for the past 4 months for business. I have been meaning to write a review for a long time. Firstly heads up to the amazing Gurdev, office manager who quite frankly deserves a medal (or at least a pay rise) for his absolutely outstanding customer service. Not only does he make me feel welcome, but goes above and beyond to make sure that nothing is ever a problem. I have observed his interactions with other guests and I’m sure they would also say the same should they chose to review. Although very close to Jackson street, I have never been bothered by noise. A handy walk to many excellent eateries. The rooms are beautifully cleaned by lovely cleaning staff. Some rooms are a little small, it doesn’t bother me as I’m just there to sleep basically. Bed’s super comfortable. What’s not to like… if you want to stay in Petone I would highly recommend

Outstanding
GGuest UserStayed for 2 nights on and adults weekend away. Great little hotel, rooms are nice with fully equipped kitchen in the suite. I would recommend the suite rather than room for a bit more space. Nice little touches like Bottled water, an Organic fruit drink and chocolate in your room on arrival. Plus you can help yourself to soft drinks and coffee in the lobby anytime. Came with breakfast (continental) which looked nice but we ate out. Customer service was really god. Very close to everything, Will stay again. The only thing that bothered me was no opening windows, but fresh air vents are in place.

GGuest UserThe location of the hotel is very good, in the city center, next to the Parliament Building, not far from the ferry, the room is spacious and clean, with kitchen facilities similar to an apartment, very suitable for family travel. The breakfast has fewer types than Hilton, but the quality is okay, 35nzd is half price for a child (my family is 3 and a half years old), and the hotel helps with parking for 40nzd, which is still very convenient. After all, the hotels in Wellington are basically not easy to park, after all, the city center is very expensive. The view from the room is good, there is a green area outside the window, which is the local cemetery (the locals don't mind these, it's very similar to Japan), and I personally don't think it matters, after all, the environment is very good.

GGuest UserWe have always enjoyed staying at QT Museum Hotel. We were given the option to upgrade to a Seaview room on the top floor with an additional charge. Seeing it is a more quiet room compared to my booking request on the 1st floor near road traffic and rubbish bin area, I paid the extra for the upgrade per night for 2 nights. Our room was not serviced well the following day. Rubbish bin in the bathroom being the only one was not emptied. The Bath and Shower gel was not replenished, we had to asked for it to be refilled. the cushions on the bed was still on the floor from the night before, the ironing board was still left out - I did not put it back as the iron was still very hot after ironing my dress for my conference that morning. The gym facilities was very tired with all towels being used and the used towels bin was overflowing. I was very disappointed with my stay this trip, using shortage of staff since Covid is a very old excuse now. Systems and procedures should be in placed by management to ensure the 5 star ratings is upheld. No point upselling or selling more rooms if they cannot keep customers happy to come back again. This was not only my opinion but that of my colleagues. very disappointing!

Rooms are fully equipped with kitchenette that has its own dishwasher/cooktop/fridge etc. super comfy bed and nice little balcony. Really nice open plan bathroom/wet room and lighting is great for dolling up! It’s the PERFECT spot for a night out on the town. Always will be booking here for when I am needing to spend my night in Central Wellington for events. Christian H at the counter is a very nice and welcoming work colleague.

GGuest UserLocated a few hundred meters from the heart of everything this hotel represents great value for money. The beds are incredibly comfy and the room looked really fresh, as though it may have been recently refurbed. We booked a Harbour View room which was lovely. Staff were great from start to finish. Only complaint was the air con was difficult to operate and quite loud, but otherwise we had a great stay and would recommend.

DDamon ShawcrossStayed her for a work on 5 August 2022 Good hotel in a handy central location. Good reception area, staff were friendly and welcoming. Not a modern hotel by any means but a classic feel to it. Was assigned a wheelchair accessible room 507, Room was a small queen room that was clean and well appointed. Being a disability accessible room, the bathroom was huge and essentially a wet-room without a bath. Not that I wanted one, but you would expect to see one, normally. Nearly slipped in the shower as I didn't find the rubber grip mat until after my shower as it was under the towels on the towel rail, where I didn't see it, rather than in the shower on the hand rail where I would. Good to see they have done away with the plastic bottles for Had an internal room facing another hotel block without a view, but this meant it was quiet. Wellington can get noisy on a Friday night but I slept well. Check out took maybe 10 seconds. Would stay again. Damon

GGuest UserDisappointed our room was not the cleanest. And the pressure for the shower was very low. Shower over bath so very old. We went for Ed Sheeran concert so they doubled the price so for what we paid per night was way over the top but if you went at a time when nothing is on it’s a cheaper hotel. Staff were excellent thou very helpful. I would stay again but not pay the price we had to for concert. Full breakfast was complementary which was good location was great only 10 minute walk and you are down town.

GGuest UserMy stay was disgusting and the receptionist (manager) was rude, mean, dismissive and argumentative. She has no empathy, doesn't care, she acted like I was inconveniencing her by just checking in and checking out. She would stare at me with utter distain. No ounce of customer service skills. Then had the audacity to call me rude and told me to get people skills. I was merely reacting to her being nasty and my taking money. She has no professionalism what so ever constantly acts like she is annoyed. She acted like she owned me and was trying to be my mummy She yelled at me and stole my money. The accommodation is disgusting, I dont even know where to start Upon arrival I thought there was no one there, I was left standing there. I didn't realise the receptionist was in the office ignoring me until a lady with a duffle bag went into the office and I asked the lady if someone was there to which she said yes. So I went to pop head in to say hello and the receptionist set on me growling at me and being nasty telling me to get and go away. She was rude and treated me like a criminal during check in. The room was impossible to find but I found it eventually. She heartless and inconsiderate. It's not a hotel it's a hostel Upon check out the receptionist acted like she was pissed off that I wanted to check out. She growled me because I touched the reception desk, there was some old tape hanging off and I kinda played with it and she just kept growling me and yelling at me saying I was ripping it when I wasn't and she wouldn't let me speak or shut up. I had to yell over her to check me out. She refused to give my money back because there was a hair dye transfer from me bright red hair on a towel. I explained the dye is water soluble and it will wash out. Never mind that my makeup and mascara were on the towels. She staring yelling at me and would only give me 80 dollars in the end. She only gave it to me because I argued with her she was going to take the whole 100. I had folded the towels, emptied the rubbish wipes the floors. She had to unfold the towels like literally look through a customer's washing. She was looking for a reason not to give my money back. When I was trying to explain the room situation she yelled at me and talked over me I was just trying to have a discussion about the issues with the accommodation and she yelled at me and growled at me for not complaining sooner. I can actually raise an issue whenever I please. The fridge leaked in the middle of the night and I used a towel to clean that up. Out of courtesy I placed a towel on a pillow to sleep to avoid hair dye transfer. The room was gross the shared toilet and bathroom were gross there was urine on the underside of the toilets. The shared kitchen area was gross There's like a ventilation system above the bed covered with dust, grime and build up which fell on me and the bed so I pulled it away. No mirrors! The draws and furniture are so old and tatty and smell bad.

GGuest UserIf you want cheap and very basic this is your place! The advert says they have Sky but they do NOT - they just have two channels of standard tv. Unfortunately we’d specifically chosen this place to watch a competition on sky - but couldn’t watch it. The manager wasn’t very happy when we asked about it. Bathroom works well - smelt of smoke, the windows didn’t lock shut, which meant street noise, but there was a heater to compensate (be careful with small kids thou). You can hear what is happening in other rooms - bring earplugs. but it’s cheap $120/night, great location, the cleaning staff are lovely and so helpful (possibly the best part of the stay).

GGuest UserI can only say that had I read other reviews on here I would not have booked this place and for the price we paid (near $200 pn) it was by far the worst we had during our six weeks in NZ. Room was not as advertised, carpet was old, worn and stained and had not been vacuumed. Only one sofa and mini table for eating on - room would not fit anything bigger. On arrival we noticed sink was filthy and benches had not been cleaned. Stovetop and oven were also both dirty. Had to do clean it myself (when I complained after we left, was told everything was clean, yeah, well I cleaned the bench tops and stovetop). Bed was OK but sheets were unironed and whilst they might have been clean certainly had not been commercially laundered, more likely just washed and dried in the provided washing machine/dryer. We also found wet sheets in the washing machine (and no, I don’t believe the manager’s story that the previous guest left them there - more likely the owner who uses the place during the week). Shower leaked water all over the floor, no bath mat provided, hand towel and face cloths were thin and stained (fit for rags). Paintwork was dreadful, could see where bits had been patched and colour painted over with white. Whole place needs renovating (manager said it was 20 years old, yeah, well it should be being rented out at the price). As an added insult I asked the owner/manager via intercom, if we could leave our bags and collect later. He said yes, cleaner would collect and take them to the office (which was not open even thought this when it was advertised as being open). Double checked he would be there on our return as we could not ring him. On return manager was not there (again when office was supposed to be open), so, fortunately we kept the key and found our bags still in the room. Manager denied this conversation and reckons he said we just leave the bags in the room and take our key with us. What he said was nothing like what he says he said. As I could not discuss any of these issues with the manager before I left, I contacted him afterwards asking for a partial refund ,but he refused, simply offering a free night in the future (an empty promise as he knew we were from overseas and probably won’t be back, and it would be easy forget or not honour the offer anyway.)
