We researched properties in West Yellowstone extensively because there really weren't any that jumped out at us in an affordable price range and with good ratings. The Best Western Desert Inn was fine, absolutely fine. It is an older property, but well maintained, clean and in a great location, just a few blocks from the western entrance to Yellowstone and in a small western town that has many restaurants, souvenir shops and places to walk around in the evening. Nothing glamorous, but a way to spend a few hours after being in the park all day. Our room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and it was extremely quiet, so we slept well. The bathroom with the toilet and shower was small, but functional and clean. The vanity was outside the bathroom which we prefer. The furnishings were dated, but that didn't affect the quality of our sleep, which ultimately was most important. Breakfast was actually very good. No, not gourmet, but a really big variety. For example, there were three different types of cream cheese, multiple flavors of yogurt, oatmeal, juices, hot and cold selections, breads and danishes. It really was a step up from the more standard breakfasts we've had recently in the other chain hotels (i.e. Hampton Inn, Springhill Suites). The gem was Desiree, who is probably one of the most friendliest and helpful front desk host we have ever met. She gave us so many great suggestions for restaurants, and she was spot on. It was so nice coming back each day and having her greet us. Thank you, Desiree!
