Clayton Whites Hotel

Very nice hotel. The room was spacious and clean. Staff is excellent. Location is great- you can walk to the train/ bus station, shopping and local points of interest. Food- especially the breakfast ( which is included) is very good.

We had a great break at Whites. The staff particularly Sarah doing the rooms and the bartender O’Connor who also sings in the bar on Monday night absolutely great singer. Overall it was a very enjoyable 3 days. We had Band B and the breakfast was excellent

The service at breakfast was excellent, especially for my vegan sister, 1 member of staff in particular went out of her way to offer vegan options. The fresh fruit selection was v poor on our first day and excellent on our second. The cooked b'fast was poor...tasteless tomatoes, dried up bacon. The beds were comfy & the room large. The carpet on our room needed a deep clean and the chairs in the bar/food area were so dirty it put me off my meal.

Pleasant staff at reception. Corridors and stairwells in severe need of upgrading. We took the stairs from the 2nd floor at one point because the distance from our room to the nearest lift was ridiculous. There appeared to be serious leak damage in that area of the hotel. Multiple bulging areas of plaster in the ceiling, lots of unlit areas in the stairwell and a really bad damp smell throughout. Bedroom was fine. Shower area could have been cleaner though. But our stay was completely ruined by the excessively loud dance music coming from a night club nearby. It had been quite loud from 11pm but then itactually ramped up in volume at about 1am and stayed going until well after 2am. I'm surprised this is not a regular complaint of residents of the hotel . It was intolerable! I understand it isn't the fault of the hotel but its probably something the local businesses should look into sorting out as it has certainly the potential to put people off returning to Whites because of that noise pollution. I certainly wont stay there again. The next morning we went to the breakfast area. It was disgusting to say the least. Sticky table, filthy carpet throughout and DIRTY plates and bowls stacked for use at the self service area. The large containers of juice looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months. The hot breakfast looked very unappetising, again served in an unclean area. The dirtiest dining area I've ever seen in a hotel. I had a croissant and left. We ended up going to a nearby cafe. We felt completely sleep deprived and ripped off after our stay. Really disappointing.

In a basement room two floors below ground level. The corridor smells extremely damp… I’m not exaggerating! The room view looks onto the carpark. Was so looking forward to this stay and have heard good things about the hotel 😔. Feels claustrophobic.

Another great stay in Whites Hotel. Lovely staff, great location, room with a view. THE BEST ever breakfast menu for those who require gluten free menu. Great if going solo.

Hotel is not 4 star , carpets were filthy , swimming changing room was dirty , the bedroom was clean but whole hotel needs updating. Bar staff were rude apart from one bar man but the rest just left you waiting and didn't acknowledge you.Breakfast was just ok
