"Was a lovely venue. Nice room. Clean. Nice staff. Unfortunately I was staying over the weekend. Had noted that there was live music, this was lovely but thought after closing time this would abate. Unfortunately the live music turned to dance music and went on past 2 am . If you’re looking for a party hotel. This is the place for you. Not for families or with your elderly mam. I decided to swap hotels but had prepaid for two nights. Asked to speak to the manager ( who came on over the phone with a member of the bar staff). I politely explained we had had no sleep and were weren’t made aware music would be playing,full blast till 2 am, I asked for a partial refund, for the night we wouldn’t be staying, was told no. Disappointing."

It's in a great location on the edge of town across from shops and garden centres. Five minute walk into town centre, completely walkable, even for arthritic me. It's also just across the road from a great pub. There's also plenty of parking outside Loved it! Thanks to Agnes."

The house and grounds were lovely, the bedroom was perfect with access to both the courtyard and the tranquil walled garden. Breakfast served in the House each morning was a real treat. "We had spent a weekend in Brookvale before and were so pleased that we stayed again. It is perfect for couples, the rooms and bed were lovely and comfortable. The bathroom our room had was very grand in my opinion, but my wife was really into it and its "thoughtful touches", I think to do with the mirror and some kinda makeup thing. We were very pleased to get some great local advice from our hostess. I thought we were steered towards things we wouldn't necessarily have discovered ourselves but that we enjoyed. I thought there was the perfect balance (for my taste) of being helpful and welcoming and also providing us our space to feel at home by leaving us alone. I should stay that we were the only guests for one night, which is great if you can get it, because the guest sitting room is so lovely to enjoy while the stove is lit during inclement weather and you read a book or whatever. It is particularly extra nice when you know that you have it to yourself. The breakfast provided was really delicious, there are vegetarian options. The baked goods were a special treat. Everything was served punctually during our stay. You select from a menu the evening before and choose a time for breakfast, within a specified range. If staying in this B&B, you will 100% need to be travelling by car. If you are in an EV: the area is definitely doable, but you'll want to plan your journeys around the chargers on googlemaps."

"This was a last-minute private booking. I called Monkey Puzzle directly, and Agnes was incredibly friendly. She offered me two options: an ensuite room or a room with shared bathrooms. I chose the cheaper option and, to be honest, I was a little worried at first—but there was absolutely no need. The shared bathrooms were spotless; they were so clean you could eat off the floor! The room was small but had everything I needed: a comfortable bed with fresh, beautifully scented bedding, towels, soap, shampoo, a wardrobe, a bedside table and a reading lamp. What more could you ask for? There is a spacious dining room, a comfortable lounge, and a fully equipped kitchen where you can prepare your own breakfast or dinner. In the evening, the sunroom looks absolutely magical, filled with plants and hundreds of tiny fairy lights. The staff were always smiling, friendly and helpful. And the view from the window is exactly what you imagine Ireland to be—beautiful, green countryside everywhere. I would happily stay here again!"

"Beautiful setting but basic accommodation.  Overall I wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return based on the room we had. Our family room was a little dark with one window that could only be opened a few cms. The room was very warm and stuffy due to the warm weather and there was no air con or fans, just a recommendation to keep the curtains closed during the day. The room was missing a lot that I’d expect as standard in a good 4 star, no robes, no coffee machine, no conditioner.  We ate at the bar twice, the first time was really awful and not as described. I ordered a duck wrap, it came drenched in gravy and the flavour was awful. My husband had ordered oriental fish tacos, no Asian flavours at all, just fish and mayo. Out of necessity we ate there again and we had a nice burger and scampi so I don’t know if it was the order or the chef. On the plus side the spa facilities are nice and generally all the staff were very helpful and friendly."
