There is one thing I am a true believer in and that is having a concept and sticking with it, trying to be all things to all people is often a recipe for failure, this is not an issue for Killiane Castle, they are the model of perfection for all things country houses, indepedently run hotels, farm to fork offerings and extraordinary hospitality. Its not often I am blown away by an experience but this stay blew me away, every detail, every moment, was carefully considered and honed to perfection. We arrived down the leafy lane of Killiane Castle to the views of the stunning building, as we parked along the front of the house we were immediately impressed by the mature setting of this magnificent building. We opened the grand front door to check in and Patrycja welcomed us warmly, we were given our room key and we were also informed of the little nook at the back of the stairs where there is tea and coffee facilities with freshly made homemade goods. We scurried off to our room to a tastefully decorated room No.5, it was very in keeping with the house but had all the essentials, a nice firm bed, and a lovely warm room with a view of the ajoining farm and land. A very nice, comfortable room. We went down to the little nook for some tea after our journey and sampled the amazing homemade cakes and biscuits, delicious crisp, chocolate cookies that were irresistible, and an inspired carrot cake with orange segments through it, a true delight. The little details really make the difference. We had a little peek around the house, a lovely front room with a self service honesty bar, big comfy sofas, plenty reading materials, fresh flowers in every corner of the house, tastefully decorated items and some fantastic Irish pottery pieces too, plently of Nicolas Mosse pottery as well which not only looks great but wonderful to see (relativley) local items on display. Again all the little details. The reason for our visit to Wexford was the National Opera House which we went to that evening, we drove into Wexford, a 10/15 min journey at best, however I will say Patrycja did mentionthey could organise a taxi if we needed it and it would be about 12-15€ if we chose to get a taxi. We arrived home and had a great sleep, a very warm, cosy relaxing room The following morning we went to breakfast around 9:30, Paul was on duty looking after everyone. The self service bar was fruits, toppings, yoghurts etc, simple but very effective and so much choice, unlike some forgotten fruit bars, every thought and consideration was put into this one, stewed apples with cloves, earl grey tea soaked prunes, cinnamon infused apricots i think it was, every fruit was prepared, every bowl had a thought put into it, it was not just a dump in a bowl and there you go, it was all made with effort and love, some fanstic homemade granola and Kiliane Castle honey as well to name but a few more items, and all adorning some more fine Nicolas Mosse bowls, it really was a feast, all the lit
