The Chrysalis Inn & Spa Bellingham, A Curio Collection

I had booked a couple treatments at the Spa, which I had saved up gift cards from the last 3 years. I booked over the phone because I wanted a recommendation of what massage to get for back and neck pain. I unfortunately went with their recommendation which was not a massage at all. I'm not going to say which treatment it was, because it's not the employees fault, it was simply not what I was needing or asked for. I was completely mislead in choosing a treatment. And for someone who does this *maybe* once every couple years, I am beyond disappointed. I spoke to the receptionist as I was checking out. When she asked how my service was I was honest but there wasn't any mention of resolution. The response was ”I'm so sorry, your total is..”. There were a few people behind me so I checked out and left because I didn't want to hold up the line. I emailed the chrysalis after my appointment, explaining the situation and asking for a refund for the 90 minute service. They messaged back unapologetically and offered 30 minutes of a massage. I then asked if I could get a 30 minute refund instead and I never got a response. I've emailed them twice since and have received nothing. I've gone here once every few years since I was a teenager, and have recommended it to my family and friends. But I will now be telling all of them not to come to the chrysalis because the customer service in management is terrible. There are other great spas and professionals in the area, I'd recommend everyone to go somewhere else. Super lame chrysalis

I am a coffee lover and breakfast lover that wakes up at 6am. The lack of anything but a crappy keurig tiny paper cup is unacceptable as is the fact that you cannot get coffee with room service and that room service doesn’t come until nearly 830. It should come with an entire carafe of coffee to be decent or at least have glass coffee cups available in the rooms. This is a high end lovely hotel with Terrible breakfast and coffee options for the early riser. Also, the breakfast options are not good - the room service was not good - slimy yogurt in a plastic cup with stale granola and clearly two day old pastries - one of which was inedible with raspberry goo. The orange juice was delicious though. This is the 3rd time I’ve stayed here and may be my last because of this. I’ve tried the breakfast in the coffee shop (which doesn’t open till 730) and in the restaurant and found both of them also pretty crappy. I don’t want a pre made burrito in a cardboard box with my to go coffee at a nice hotel on the ocean. The restaurant was fine but really only has like one or two actual breakfast options the rest are brunch and if you stay more than one night you have the same menu for lunch so choose wisely.

The hotel was clean and free of clutter. The décor was modern and tasteful. I found the front desk very courteous and welcoming. The meet and greet hour was good in the sense that it gave us a free coupon for either a clam chowder and drink. The exterior was clean and free of garbage. The rooms were large and spacious. The soaps and shampoos were dispensed from a large bottle and they smelled good, if you like lemon grass sage. I will definitely go back to this hotel if I am ever in Bellingham again.
Comfort Inn Bellingham

We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Bellingham, Washington for 6 nights in February 2020. We were visiting a close relative in the hospital for the last few days of their life. Our original plan was to stay for 3 nights but our stay was extended two times first for one night, then for two more. Each time we contacted the hotel to confirm the extension and prepaid the stay while reserving the same room for simplicity. Our concerns have to do with hygiene and housekeeping. Hotel renovations moved the breakfast room to a small conference room which created understandable congestion. However, we found a long hair in the fresh tray of eggs one morning. The sheets on our bed were not changed for the entire 6 nights of our stay. We know this because my wife had a small scab on her elbow that cracked and bled a few drops of blood on the first night and the bloodied sheet was never changed during our entire stay. I even pointed it out to the night manager after the 5th night, who assured me he would pass on the concern to housekeeping. We discovered the next night sheets still had not been changed. The hotel reflects its age. The hide-a-bed that my daughter slept in was broken down and sagged making her stay very uncomfortable. I am sorry to report this inn experience was a disappointment and warrants reconsideration if hygiene is important. Interestingly, the hotel in response to my similar comments on their website simply requested we give them another chance. Why should we?
