Felt like a local. From point of booking to saying goodbye, we were made to feel like valued regular local customers. We decided to eat here as a little break from our hotel - it got good reviews and was dog friendly (that was an understatement). Steeped in history in a quaint Yorkshire village, I felt like I was on the set of a TV show, about to walk into my local for a pint. Staff were attentive and friendly. This place saves the bells and whistles and instead offers excellent value, terrific portions, and outstanding taste. I felt like I had my dinner made by grandma! You can stay the night here and I can only imagine that you will end up in a family Whattsapp group afterwards, because honestly, you are made to feel so welcome. We reluctantly left after dinner, but legitimately could have stayed all night having a few drinks and swapping stories. Gorgeous vibes. Roaring fire. Kind souls.

Found this gem, browsing for a few days in Whitby. Fantastic room, the bathroom was huge (room 3). It had a sofa too with two TV's or argument TV's as Pete the landlord told us. The bed was really comfortable. We had a great time. The food was superb and a full breakfast every morning set us up for the day. Pete, his team, Nellie and Molly (the landladies, the resident dogs) were super friendly and welcoming. This is definitely our new place to stay when we come to Whitby. We were out all day coming back every evening to eat a fantastic meal. Variety in the menu but not over the top. Everything home made and piping hot. Will definitely recommend to family and friends. Thanks to everyone at The Witching Post Inn.

If you want a public house that is a bit quirky, a landlord that has a good sense of humour, good food and ale. …Look no further! Came across this gem whilst visiting Whitby …. The Witching post Inn, has it all. Old time charm, ample seating and good a**osphere, it also had interesting art on its toilet doors and it’s walls, even a table ! which I was told was created by a talented artist whom visited. “Uncle Dave” whom we met, was a great character, and had us laughing out loud. The food was of good quality, and promptly served. Old peculiar beer particularly recommended. A warm and welcoming place, and much better than the stuffy pub next door we also visited. Fully recommended …they also have accommodation ! Worth a look for sure! Will return, if the landlord allows us to. 🤣

Stayed for a week in early January, of course it was cold, wet and windy but there were plenty of interesting places to visit for days out. It was good to get back to a roaring log fire, a hearty meal, a few drinks and up to our room for a comfortable night's sleep with a wide choice of excellent breakfasts in the morning. We took our dog and she was made extremely welcome. The staff were great and Pete, the Landlord, made us feel completely at home and went out of his way to ensure our stay was an experience not to forget. We sincerely recommend The Witching Post inn and this is where we'll stay when we are next in the area.

Stayed 2 nights (Friday and Saturday). Upon arrival, was greeted warmly by the landlord (Pete). We had a spot of car trouble on the way, as there is a garage next to the inn we asked if it was open on the Saturday. Pete said it wasn't but then realised we actually wanted it to be. Within 30 minutes he told us he had spoken to the garage owner who was going to open up especially for us at 9 the next day to sort the issue. Amazing! The place is cosy with a good stock of drinks and the food is lovely. The landlord Pete and his good lady, Karen are very welcoming and chatty. I would stay here again without doubt!

We stayed at the Witching Post for one night after visiting Whitby (about 6 miles away) and we're glad we did. The owner, Pete, is a very friendly guy as are all the other people there. He even went to the trouble of listing a load of local attractions for us to see. The Witching Post is an old ale house which has been added to over the years and the building has lots of character (but mind your head, the beams are very low in places!). Our room was spacious and comfortable with a large bathroom and good shower. The food on offer was excellent. Plenty of places to park in front of the inn. Would definitely recommend.

We were staying in the area and this pub was recommended to us. We arrived an hour before food was being served, however the owner kindly let us order early. The food was great , together with friendly service. We would definitely visit again.

The welcome from Pete and staff was as warm as the roaring fires. The breakfast varied and you will not need lunch after the full English. Evening meals superb, especially the steak pie. The best we have ever had. The dogs loved it. We will be back again soon. Many thanks. X
