The Granby Hotel
"Enjoyed this friendly pub with a nice atmosphere and good staff. Did not try the food but had a few drinks over the May bank holiday. The food looked good and lots of people were eating so we will try next time as had made other arrangements. Has music Friday/ Saturday nights and packed out with Harley Davison bikers. Good vibes and will return."
Rowan Tree House B&B
"Room was small but comfortable. Very quiet and peaceful, even though you were on a main road. Breakfast was superb and there was plenty of choice. The owners were friendly and knowledgeable on places to visit. Parking at front of property, but only 3 spaces but there is a free car park a few yards away."

Duke of York
"Hello humans, Stan here. Yes, that Stan. The handsome one on the lead. I recently accompanied my two favourite people (Mum and Dad) to the Duke of York in lovely Whitby, and I feel qualified to give a full and honest review. First things first — they let me in. Not just a polite “dogs tolerated” situation. I was WELCOMED. Properly welcomed. Water bowl appeared quickly (excellent service), and I received admiring glances from both staff and fellow diners. As it should be. The staff were absolutely fabulous — friendly, helpful, and genuinely happy to see both humans and pups. The views? Absolutely fabulous. We had stunning views over the harbour — boats bobbing, seagulls plotting, humans wandering about with ice creams. From a professional observation standpoint, it was top-tier entertainment. Even better, right next door there’s a small stretch of sand, perfect for early morning zoomies or a refined late-night stroll before bed. Very convenient. Very civilised. We stayed overnight on a B&B basis. The rooms are on the smaller side, but perfectly suited for a three-night stay — cosy rather than cramped. The bathroom, however, was impressively spacious with a large shower (excellent post-beach paw-washing potential). There was an iron, hair dryer, suitcase stand, and a proper dressing table with a separate mirror for Mum to do her make-up — which I patiently supervised, of course. Now, a small note from the finance department, there was an additional £25 per dog per stay charge which wasn’t very clearly advised at booking. I do understand that hosting such a distinguished canine guest may come at a premium, but clearer communication would have prevented a brief moment of raised eyebrows (mainly Dad’s). Overall verdict: A warm, welcoming stay with fabulous harbour views, sandy strolls on the doorstep, cosy but well-equipped rooms, and very happy staff (minus one exception, which we didn’t have to interact with). Clearer communication on the extra dog charge would make it absolutely perfect — but I would happily return to continue my important chip-based research. Five barks out of five. — Stan 🐾"
