"At the moment the Royal Hotel is undergoing a multi-million pound renovation project so some rooms that still need a little TLC is only to be expected.
I stayed in a standard single with sea view and what a view it was. That alone was worth every penny I paid and, for Whitby, it was a bargain.
The room itself was more than adequate and, with the exception of a bedside table for my phone and drink, it had everything I needed.
The bathroom was massive, bigger than my own at home so no complaints there either.
Whether you want your room cleaned or not, every day a package of tea, coffee, sugar, milk and toilet roll is left for you and if you need anything else, including any essentials you may have forgotten, you just need to ask at reception. We were all even gifted an Easter egg on Easter Sunday which was a lovely, thoughtful touch.
The hotel itself is really lovely and I can highly recommend The Fat Badger restaurant and bars downstairs and every single member of staff I spoke to was lovely and extremely helpful.
The only downside to booking The Royal Hotel is the climb back up on an evening but it's a very small price to pay for the best views in town."
