YHA Whitby

It was great all around, no complaints

I have been to Whitby so many times but never thought to stay at the YHA. This place is great and so nice to be set away from the town. The place is older and the room was basic. Built very clean and had everything we needed. We stayed in room 12 and the view was great. I did get woken up by people coming in late, but this was not due to them being exceptionally loud, just the building being old, the noise travels very easy. But did not put me off at all. We included breakfast and again was great. We were lucky enough for the weather to be warm so we enjoyed our morning tea with a beautiful view over Whitby. As we were there on the motorbike, we were able to get into the cart yard to park. I would also recommend popping to the Whitby brewery up the road. Very nice place, with pizza and great beer. Will definitely be using the Whitby YHA when we travel to Whitby again.

Stayed here overnight and it was great. The room was basic but very clean. The building was lovely, and the gardens were beautiful. We had an amazing view of the Abbey from our room. They had everything you could need, a kitchen for self catering and a restaurant for meals. We had an evening meal with the kids and the food was great. Including great kids meals. Breakfast was lovely and had everything you could want. So happy we chose to stay here. It is right next to the Abbey and entry is free if your staying at YHA. Amazing!

This was our second visit to the cafe at this place. With its amazing views from the garden it is the perfect place to eat if you are in Whitby when the weather is good. You can even see the steam trains coming into the station. Saying that though, there is plenty of indoor seating too which did look lovely. Service was very friendly and helpful, and dietary needs catered for (I am gluten and dairy intolerant). They have a very good selection of foods (cooked or cold) and drinks. We were surprised there weren’t more people here, but that may be due to the signage which could probably do with being bolder. People staying at the YHA are very lucky to have this cafe on site.

Had a two night stay with friends whilst doing cycling in Pickering and from Whitby. The weather was sunshine all the way which made it perfect for us. The building is old and full of character and whilst showing signs of wear it was clean (except our first dorm that housekeeping hadn’t done their job - reception soon moved us to rectify). The shower and toilet in our dorm was clean. Our room was occupied by 4 on the first night and 5 on the second so not at the 8 capacity. Reception John was very helpful and the cafe team always made you feel welcome. Breakfast on our second day was fair value and fuelled a day of cycling. It was only my second stay in a YHA and I’d be willing to do it again and would even take the family for a break away.

Spur of the moment booking. Day out turned into a night stay. Saw this online, had a walk up and booked direct. The gentleman on reception was brilliant. The room were clean tidy. Spot on . Bed comfortable. It has everything ya would need. Cafe for food and a bar. The location were fantastic. I would recommend this to anyone.
