Trooperstown Lodge

very poor after a day out stalking and getting wet, we were told that there was no heating to be on after a long conversation we got it on for 2 hours in the afternoon. The rooms were freezing cold all night it wasn't made comfortable for our stay here. we were told that we weren't allowed the fire on at any point. the dining room was not an option as it was too cold in the room the door remained shut at all times. we have been coming here for the last 3 years for shooting and b&b this year has been the worst of them all and has totally put us of coming again we will be avoiding at all costs.

We stayed here for one night when visiting Glendalough. The lodge is in a great location. The bedrooms were comfortable and very clean. There were some lovely common areas where we could sit and chat or read. There was always tea and coffee with biscuits available. We were made to feel so welcome.

Absolutely horrendous experience, myself and 4 staff members brought our 4 residents with an intellectual disability on their very first holiday ever, booked online and then rang to confirm, because of the men's needs we would need the house to ourselves. So we confirmed that we booked out all the rooms so it would be only us in the house. When we arrived there after driving an hour and a half, they told us that there was other people staying in the house therefore we weren't able to stay! We were left outside with no where to stay. No apologies the manager was so rude on the phone! No hospitality at all! We asked if the men could use the bathrooms after a long drive. We were told to be quite (3/4 men are non verbal) one of the staff tried to stop one of the men from moving! We were left outside the house for over an hour trying to find somewhere else as it was the men's first holiday so we didn't want to go home and ruin their experience! Not even offered a drink of water on such a hot day. Left in cars trying to sort everything out! Absolutely disgraceful for these men to have to endure the disregard and embarrassment of being stared at, hushed, and preventing from walking within the premises!

Would highly recommend for couples or families. Trooperstown Lodge is an amazing place to stay the Lodge itself is spotless and full of interesting pieces of decor. Erica who works in the lodge is one of the nicest people we have ever came across and made our stay all that much better. Thank you so much.
