St John's Croft

A really charming place to stay with extremely welcoming hosts. Very comfortable room and excellent breakfast.

Really good location within walking distance to town. Beautiful property with lots of quirky features that added to character. Our hosts were really nice and had a good chat with Rosie during breakdown. I would say the only negative was the bed. I found it a bit too hard for my comfort level and struggled to sleep but it was only for one night so was ok ; )

Stunning House with parking on site (win win for us). Our room was beautiful and had everything we needed to make our stay perfect, we were overlooking beautiful grounds with a view of a little Folly. Breakfast on both days was lovely, we enjoyed chatting to the other guests and our hosts. Easy walk for us to Winchester for shopping and some culture. If you like a laid back, welcoming vibe this place offers just that. Dotty, Nick, Zoe and Mike were perfect hosts and made us feel at home. Def returning and highly recommended.

A great place with a home from home feel and nicely furnished big comfortable rooms with private bathrooms, and a lovely garden. I had all the amenities I needed and the owners were very friendly, hospitable and helpful. Breakfast was in the kitchen and consisted of just what I wanted - continental with optional egg dishes. The location is central, in walking distance of restaurants and shops, and there is free parking on the premises, which is not always a given in the city. All in all this is a top notch bed&breakfast that I can recommend highly.

I would have loved to stay longer in this wonderful B&B. We had a large, nicely furnished room overlooking the garden. The bathroom was not ensuite, but as it was private and right next to the room, there was no problem. The location of the B&B is just great, so peaceful and still very close to the city centre with the cathedral, restaurants and shops. Dotty was much fun to talk to in the morning and she gave us great tipps for restaurants - Don't miss The Old Vine for drinks and a nice view of the cathedral! Breakfast was served in the comfy kitchen - great salmon!

Beautiful accommodation above the lovely town of Winchester. Dotty was a friendly host who made a nice breakfast every morning with salmon, fresly brewed coffee / tea, berries and lots more. If you want to stay in a typical English country house this is the place to be. The only thing that did not work was the free WiFi connection.

What a wonderful visit! Dotty and Nick we're absolutely charming. This is an artistically decorated house within a few minutes walk of the city centre. Our room was large, comfortable, tasteful and sunny The private bathroom right next to the room was also spacious and well appointed. The breakfasts were delicious and relaxed. We shall definitely return when we are next in the area.

Stayed for one night with 2 other friends so we occupied all the 3 bedrooms. The Croft is a stunning building in an elevated position overlooking Winchester and facing a small park . Dotty was so friendly and welcoming we felt immediately at home . The bedrooms are big especially the one with bath inside the room . The atmosphere is very relaxed and despite being a family home it was very private. Breakfast was great in the large kitchen with plenty of choice . We were able to leave our cases there on checkout day while we continued to explore Winchester ahead of our train journey home later that afternoon. In the interest of an honest review I must point out a couple of things ,firstly the walk from the station if arriving by train is definitely not 12 minutes . Even allowing for our rather short legs it’s a good 20 minutes and for the less fit the last section is up a very steep hill so if anyone has mobility issues I recommend a cab from the station. Secondly the 2 back bedrooms have nice bathrooms right next door to the rooms but the larger front room with the bath inside has a loo a fair distance down the corridor not ideal if like me you have to get up in the night but for one night it was fine. Access to Winchester town centre from the Croft is easy only a few minutes walk down a not to steep hill . Overall really fabulous , highly recommend. Thanks Dotty and Nick.
