Good location, clean and friendly helpful staff. Hotel carpark only has room for about 20 cars, with a council run carpark at the front both of which are chargeable, it would help if the hotel could come to some arrangement with the council so that you don’t have to constantly worry about topping up your ticket. Chose this hotel for a celebratory weekend away because of location and spa, unfortunately the only thing working properly was the sauna. The pool was freezing, steam room and jacuzzi broken down so the relaxing pamper weekend wasn’t to be. Apparently this has been an ongoing issue but guests are not for warned in any manner, the 1st you know about it is when you walk into spa and see the notices. No email, no warning at check in = bad customer service, lots of other guests also unhappy regarding spa! Which had I have known, I would have booked elsewhere for a fully working spa. The hotel is undergoing refurbishment, so lots of noise when arrived on the Friday ( again no notice this was happening when booking) thankfully it didn’t continue over the weekend. While the rooms look very nice, attention to detail is lacking. Wardrobe area, rails to low that everything creases at the bottom, iron and board in wardrobe so hangers have to go at an angle, shelf in top is large so could have done with rails going a couple of inches higher. Bathroom, clean with a nice shower. Seats in seating area are so uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time, so you have to sit on bed, not ideal. Only hook is in the bathroom, thankfully weather was dry otherwise there is nowhere to hang wet coats etc. Room service, whilst the food was nice and hot we ordered 2 meals but only got one set of cutlery, again attention to detail. I would possibly visit again, but only once the refurbishment has finished and spa fully working
