The bed type on the page is described as a ≥1.81m bed, but it is actually a 1.5m bed. The hotel has no elevator, so all luggage has to be carried up the stairs. The receptionist has a very bad attitude and looks down on Chinese people.

Wonderful staff, fantastic facilities, spotlessly clean and a delicious breakfast - what more do you need? The Howbeck guest house lived up to all expectations and more. Very comfortable bed in a spotlessly clean room. The spa bath was great to unwind in at the end of the day.

Excellent experience from start to finish. Stayed in the retreat suite, lovely facilities, really comfortable bed and close to bars, shops and restaurants. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful. Even surprising us with balloons in the room for my husbands birthday. Breakfast, plentiful, served to the room and very good quality ingredients. Thank you for making our stay special and relaxing .

We stayed here for 2 nights with 2 other couples celebrating our friend’s birthday. There are several reasons why this hotel is just so perfect: 1. The location is ideal. 5 minutes walk from the centre of Windermere and local bus route to the Lakeside. 2. The staff go above and beyond to make you feel welcome and are extremely friendly and approachable. 3. The Breakfast is delicious with a wide variety of freshly cooked options as well as help yourself cereals, fruit, yoghurts etc… The breakfast service was 10/10. 4. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds, powerful shower and spa baths as well as a good selection of teas and coffees. We will 100% be returning back to The Howbeck and will also be trying the sister hotel in Coniston. Thank you for the most memorable weekend

I can't recommend this place enough! We stayed for 1 night to celebrate getting married earlier in the week and it was beautiful. The suit was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast we had was fantastic! I did not know where we were going until we go there and I was very happy with where we stayed. We will definitely be back!

Great location, lovely rooms, the beds were very comfortable and I slept very well. The staff could not do enough for your ever request. The breakfast was good only negative the website advertises pastries which were nowhere to be seen. Honesty bar a great touch.

Perfect location and fantastic service. We stayed in The Retreat and enjoyed all the facilities offered in the room at the guest house. In the evening we walked up to a local Italian. Howbeck is Great value for money - can’t wait to stay again! Highly recommended.
