What can I say about this wonderful little place, that hasn’t already been said? We visited here on Sunday, for the pre booked 3 course Sunday Lunch and we’re so glad that we did! Our joint of beef was cooked to perfection! The vegetables and trimmings were delicious! The parsnip and pear soup and white onion soup were stunning and the desserts were super. The staff were friendly and polite and their customer service was great. Take my advice and visit here, you won’t be disappointed!
Windermere Manor Hotel

Some mixed reviews on here but we had room 10 and it was lovely with a view of Lake Windermere in the distance. It was clean with everything we needed. All the staff we came across were friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced, food was nice. Breakfast in the morning was all we needed. Really enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

The hotel was clean and tidy , and room was adequate for our stay , bed was very comfortable . The staff were very friendly and helpful ,in reception and dining room .The Breakfast was a buffet selection ,self service , with Tea or Coffee, good selection to choose from .The dinner menu was also good ,with a choice of Starters ,Mains & Desserts ,all good wholesome food of a pub type menu. After a day out ,went for a drink in the Ossett Head Bar in the hotel grounds , nice pleasant ambient setting , this was the only time , it never opened again for the duration of our stay. The only other bar is in the dining room , and this was only open , during meal times , no soft furnishings , only dining tables . dont know if you could take drinks from there , into the guest lounge ,never informed. Plentiful supply of Tea & Coffee in room ,which you had to replenish from reception . i am now Tea Total & Alcohol Free after this mini vacation .
Elim Bank Guest House

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Elim Bank over the bank holiday weekend and what a great find this Guest House is. Just a 5 minute walk left out of the hotel you are in the heart of Bowness, with its array of shops, bars, great places to eat and the dock to catch the boats across the lake. The hotel itself is gorgeous, both inside and out. There is a small car park around the back of the hotel, which is fab in Bowness as parking seemed difficult over the bank holiday. When we arrived we were met by both Adam and Symmoane, with a great warm welcome. Both made us feel so at home when we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for either of them, going over everything we might need for our stay. When it came to breakfast, there is a booking system (book your time by 7pm the night before) which was great for us. The breakfast room is only small, but for a 7 bedroomed guesthouse it was perfect. The breakfast is continental- with a great selection of cereals, brown and white bread to toast, croissants and pan au chocolat (which you can warm) and a fridge of juices and milks and a gorgeous home made compot you can help yourself to. Porridge is also made fresh for you by Adam and Symmoane. Initially we wernt sure whether we would be disappointed with not having a cooked full english option each morning but we were far from disappointed. We actually preferred it. We were out and about all day and it was a lovely start with fresh coffee and tea. We booked a double loft room, so had 2 flights of stairs to go up. There is no lift. But this was no problem for us. The room was beautifully decorated and spacious enough for the 2 of us. I liked the touches the room had like a hairdryer and a fan, a heat mat (for straighteners) and also the toileterries in the bathroom. We had such a fabulous stay and will 100% be coming back to stay again.
The Westmorland Inn

I was afraid that the Lake District was too busy to book a hotel. I booked this hotel very early. The facts proved to be correct. There are too many people in the Lake District! We arrived at one o'clock in the afternoon, about twenty minutes walk from Windermere train station, which is a bit far away. This hotel is actually in Bowness, closer to the lake. You can't check in when you arrive, you need to wait until two o'clock in the afternoon. Our family had to wait to check in in the afternoon sun, and ate the sandwiches we brought with our suitcase as the table. Check in on time at two o'clock. The room is on the third floor, there is no elevator, the stairs are very narrow, and it is a bit difficult to carry luggage. It’s a pity that the room is good, although it is an old house, the facilities are relatively new and the bed is relatively large. It's less than ten minutes' walk from the lake, much closer than the train station. There are small supermarkets and restaurants near the hotel, which is more convenient. It must be noted that luggage storage is marked on the website. In fact, it is not allowed to deposit. It is six pounds at the visitor center, only until 5 pm.
