Checkin was in the pub, gentleman was really friendly and helped us sort the car. However I was checking in with two young children and we were in a room directly above the bar, first floor so the noise was horrendous. Maintenance issues galore too. The shower was falling off the wall, the hot water tap on the sink didn't turn on at all, the plug wouldn't come out of the bath and the radiator in the bathroom was stuck on full heat so we were melting all night. We also couldn't open the window due to the noise from the pub. I know this was a cheap stay and do wouldn't be perfect but the Maintenance issues simply weren't acceptable. Having two 8 year olds with me meant asking to move rooms wasn't really an option as they went straight in the bath and to bed. It pains me to write a bad review but please address the issues. It really wasn't acceptable

Worst hotel ever used, room was separated by just a stud wall, throughout the night a tradesman was banging as Loud as he could when confronted he said he had a job to do why was I knocking on wall at 4am!!! He the decided to bang louder ! Hotel should be ashamed of themselves having work carried out next to disabled elderly clients, hotel was made aware but have not had the decency to reply or address complaint should be ashamed of themselves

We booked two rooms through Las**inute.com at was now an understandably low rate. On arrival check in was positive but went down hill from there. On moving to the rooms to drop off the bags we had to step over linen thrown on the stairs, and then in the room spotted the toilet seat was completely detached from the toilet, (this was reported and no action taken) and the bathroom ceiling was also covered in mould. The next day when we checked out the linen was still on the stairs, which would have been exceptionally dangerous if there was a fire and showed the lack of oversight of the entire facility. I requested a refund and sent picture evidence to Las**inute.com they took three months to close the case saying the hotel refused the request. On Saturday 5th March I contacted the hotel through contact us section of the website and I am yet to hear a reply. This has been ongoing since the 13th December when the issue was reported to last minute.com. Please spend your money elsewhere.

Basic hotel which is fine for the price we paid however the lack of cleanliness is just not acceptable! I did email the hotel but had no reply which again speaks volumes. The hotel could be beautiful with some care and cleaning but I would not stay again .

The room was clean but very tired. There was no headboard on the comfortable bed. Linen all clean. It feels a bit hostel like. Car parking is limited and someone blocked a lot of cars in. I arrived at 8 and found there was no food. Staff were helpful and suggested ordering a take out and subsequently delivered it to my room I was woken at 3 39 by a noise I initially thought was burning but realised it was water down a gutter. I was surprised to find when I left that it was dry outside and the source of the noise was an air conditioning unit with water pouring out, right opposite my window. The Globe and Crown is not awful but absolutely not the room above a pub I anticipated. It has a lot of rooms. Staff were pleasant and helpful.

This accommodation is centrally placed and there was a very warm welcome when booking in. The room was cosy and warm and generally clean. However due to the fact that the rooms are in a completely seperate part of the building, connected to the pub by an archway, it did feel more like a hostel than a "pub with rooms". As a lone female traveller I only felt secure by locking the door. The downsides were that the walls were paper thin, you could hear every word (and belch) from the room next door. The toilet was loose and water was running all night. Despite a strict no smoking policy the third floor smelt strongly of stale smoke, it really hit you when you opened the doorway from the stairs and permeated into the room. However I did only pay £38 for the room so essentially you get what you pay for. If I stayed again I would probably pay more for a larger room.

I don't really leave reviews for places (worked in hospitality for too long to really want too) but after reading some fairly unfair reviews on this place- I'm going out of my way to say 5 Star all the way. I had a massive room, with great tea and coffee making facilities, it is right in the centre so location is brilliant- toiletries in bathroom excellent. Bed was very comfy and it was a clean room. I met two members of staff, the first I think was the "landlord" he was funny and friendly. The housekeeper was also nice and professional . It's not a 5 star hotel, its not trying to be a five star hotel. It is a decent pub with a great looking menu, tonnes of character and comfy room for the night . I will go back. Nice one Globe & Crown- thank you for having me.

I stayed here previously with my partner around 3 yrs ago and it was afairly nice place to stay, so regrettably I did not look at the reviews! I booked a basic room as I was staying on my own to help my daughter move home. This place appears to be a hostel for those who have unfortunately become homeless possibly due to covid. As a consequence they treat it like their home,my first night as a solo female which I'm not used to , I was so anxious I couldn't sleep! The landlord is arragant and who I think is the son is sloppy and has zero manners. I couldn't check in at 3 as stated as apparently the housekeepers had only just arrived in my room. four flights of stairs to get to my room I honestly struggled, and that first night I seriously considered just trying to find somewhere else to stay as I was not feeling safe atall. The room itself was fairly clean, but the mattress was stained and the windows wouldn't close, as the latches where missing, frames so old half was rotted away . I dont recommend this place unless you honestly have no choice.
