This was a trip that I took my 86 years old mom to travel with me. After a long bullet train ride and shuttle ride, Banyan Tree Huangshan gave us a warm welcome by upgrading our room to a villa. The place is beautifully designed, nested in a valley with traditional Hui style building. Inside the rooms, they have the western style bedroom and bathroom comforts, but the deco is traditional Chinese arts with a modern twist, very elegant, not the tacky hotel chain style but details that fits the surrounding nature beauty. All the rooms and facilities are very clean, and service people are very nice too. We had the front desk clerk Sweet, who updated our stay and a room cleaning lady May Zhang who helped us with our needs. Very thankful to their help! The outside garden design blends in with the surrounding mountains. They even have a petting zoo for visitors young and old. We dined in their Chinese restaurant the first night. The foods were good but I won't say exceptional. For two of us, it was way too much in food quantity for one order. We felt bad to waste food this way. Wish they have had smaller choices. But their breakfast is very impressive. And even though they are very close to Hong Village where the shuttle stops, they did not offer free shuttle which I think they should. The hotel called to inform me that I needed to change the room, saying that it needed repairs, and suggested that if I didn't come back in time, the hotel would send someone to move the things out. When we came back the facility was in good condition and didn't need repairs. The facilities in the changed room were not as good as the original room. The chairs and hangers were missing, and the washstand had stains that could not be wiped off. It feels old. In addition, the breakfast is simple and does not match the price.

This time I booked two rooms, received friends to start a happy trip to Huizhou, entered the south gate of Hongcun Scenic Area and walked 50 meters to reach an Huizhou building near the lake, which is very convenient for travel. Entering the park, it is suddenly open, the pure Huizhou garden owner is exquisite and elegant, it is rare that there will be such a large courtyard in this simple village and town, the rooms and halls are also surprises, the configuration of the homestay is quite comprehensive, from use to food, are high-end brands, I feel that the owner of the homestay is too low-key. I can't see the introduction of these configurations from the outside Internet. I only know their low-key and unspeakable. I highly recommend 👍🏻 in one sentence.

On the one hand, I chose it because it would be quieter outside Hongcun, but in fact, on the night of check-in, there was a party in the parking lot outside the window. It's almost 10 o'clock... In addition, because it is not too far from the road, there will be the sound of cars, and the hotel's sound insulation is not very good, so it can't be regarded as a quiet hotel overall. The second is service. This should be the first homestay I live in that didn’t add me on WeChat in advance, and didn’t take the initiative to post any precautions, travel suggestions, etc. I’ll take the initiative to ask where I can go later. Extended itinerary suggestions are offered proactively. The on-site service is okay, and will provide help when you ask. The design of the public area of ​​the hotel is good. The combination of bamboo and sunlight is what attracted me at first, but the room design and facilities are relatively inferior. Overall, if you live in a basic room type, I think the price of 600 to 700 can be recommended. If you set the price of 1000+, I think there are better choices.

This is one of the most delightful guesthouses I’ve stayed at in China. The building itself is beautiful. The service is impeccable. The food is delicious (I had dinner and breakfast there). They have free bikes and nice maps of the vicinity. I’m really glad I stayed in Bishan; felt much less touristy than Xidi or Hongcun and it has a branch of the librarie avant-gardes bookstores. It’s a solid hour from the high-speed rail, ask them to organize car for you.

This location was perfect and right in the scenic area of hongcun. It’s a little difficult to find at first but once you find it it’s easy to come back to if you put it in the maps app. The town is so cute and we were welcomed with little Hand-made bookmarks which was so sweet and a wonderful surprise. The one thing that was off putting and probably a one off is it seemed that there was a large family staying in the Homestay and in the middle of the night there was screaming and doors slamming on and off throughout the night. I’m not sure if this is a regular thing or just happened to be a one night thing but it was a bit frightening. Other than that the location was very quiet when we got there and the owner was very helpful with any questions we had throughout our stay.
