Park View Guest House

This was an extremely comfortable stay with all the basics provided. The location was just perfect -- close to Gillygate and a short walk to the city centre -- as we were mostly out and about. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The bed was very comfortable and our first floor double room was bright and airy and clean. Free and fast Wi Fi and full breakfasts were included.

Very nice place. Small hur clean rooms, and NICE decorated, with possibility för making Tea 'n coffee. There were even wine glasses👍 🥂 Really friendley staff👍 Guest parking. Full english breakfast😋 Just 7-8 minutes walk to city center 😊 We're SO happy we found it. Thank you🙏

I booked the hotel on *********** but this was then cancelled by the hotel who said the room was advertised incorrectly for the dates I booked, so I booked a different room for one of the nights, but when I got there I was able to have my original room for all the nights. I booked a single room, which was small, but it was clean and well-decorated. However the bathroom was too small and the toilet was too near the wall: therefore the room should be advertised as a child's room as it is unsuitable for an adult. The breakfast finished at 9am, even on weekends, which is very early. The staff were helpful and the hotel was the cheapest in the area by far.

An overpriced, unfriendly accommodation. The place is not clean, the bathroom was dirty did not look liked it had been cleaned for years. Squashed dining area, breakfast awful. Staff rude and unhelpful. Do not stay here.

Booked for 1 night stay whilst visiting york for a much needed break , however was called the day before we were due to arrive to be told our room was now booked to somebody else "but don't worry there is lots off rooms to stay in york" ?!!! Very disappointed in the way we were treated , they said i gave incorrect address / bank details but funny how my card payment went through from the day before to stop in scarborough?NOT TO BE TRUSTED !! Ended up staying in a lovely apar**ent for the same price right in the heart of york so worked out better so thank you" Park View "you did us a favour in the end . Would not reccomend

This place, in my opinion is a death trap. I have already reviewed it to North Yorkshire Fire Service. Stayed in top floor bedroom. Automatic fire door closer had been unscrewed and removed. Fire instructions on door illegible. Smoke detector covered by a plastic bag. Smoke alarm painted in - be interesting if it worked. As I said top floor, the only alternative to the one set of stairs, your only fire exit is through a dormer window onto the sloping roof. If a fire ever did catch though I would hope it wouldn’t travel as far and quickly as the smell of fried breakfast in a morning which managed to make the three floors to our room unpleasantly easily. If that isn’t enough, the place is dirty and poorly maintained, to be frank it would put a hostel to shame. Finally we stayed as a result of the reviews it has previously received. Don’t believe them.

Well, what can I say ? Let's start with the positives - lovely friendly staff, an extremely good shower and fridges in the rooms and a lovely plentiful breakfast. Now, unfortunately, the negatives. At nearly £300 for a two night stay, I'd expect better. Whilst the beds are comfortable, the mattresses are too big for the beds, the fridge was noisy and the bathroom was smaller than my wardrobe at home. 3 flights upstairs to a room with mismatched furniture and in desperate need of refurbishment ( and a good scrub !) It certainly isn't half a mile to the city centre either ! Whilst we've stayed in worse ( thinking of the Grand in Scarborough 🤢) it's in dire need of an update and in my opinion overpriced, especially when breakfast is extra.

A very good budget guest house. Warm and cosy, peaceful and a freshly cooked hot breakfast offered however they only seemed to offer cheap white bread. Dining room needs a good clean. Smelt a bit stale. Very basic stay but adequate if planning on being out and about
