This family hotel near York Railway Station is very nice, with a good experience, warm decoration and good environmental hygiene. It is very convenient to famous attractions such as York Minster and Shambles. Very cost-effective!

Not far from the train station, just past a large parking lot, the room is very clean, there is a TV in the room, you can watch Youtube, the bathroom is also large, there is a bathtub in the family room (1 large bed + 2 small beds), hotel The service was also very good. We stored our luggage at the hotel after checking out and picked it up ourselves in the afternoon, which was very convenient.

The b&b is nice, little off the main area of downtown but not that far. Good breakfast. The room also good not that small with windows! The only complaint is the lady that runs the place I think, she checks you in and does breakfast and all, when we arrived she was gentle, she leaves at 4 and there’s no one after that, but on our check out she wouldn’t let us do it later than 10:30 majority of places do it at 12 or at least 11 am, the couple next to us in breakfast ask the same and she said no problem leave at 1 pm but not us. We left our luggage and went back later to pick it up and she was very rude, almost like making us a favor to use the bathroom wich was in the basement. Anyway no customer service at all. We will prefer to stay somewhere else next time, closer to everything and with more caring service.

I booked 23 St Mary’s for 15 of us to stay for my Sisters Hen do and Gage, Carol and Keisha could not have been more wonderful or accommodating during our stay. They ensured we had everything we needed and we all felt so welcomed and well looked after. Not to mention their efforts in the kitchen so all 15 of us could enjoy breakfast together on Sunday morning before we departed! The rooms were also perfect - beautiful, comfortable and clean. A huge thank you from all of our group for your kindness and efforts to help make Hannah’s Hen Do the special weekend it was - we will definitely be back (but not all at once, promise!)

Stayed overnight for Uni open day and received a warm welcome from the lovely staff member. We had 2 rooms on the 2nd floor which were spotless and very pretty. Had a good nights sleep and a fantastic breakfast. It’s less than a 5 minute walk to York Minster and the centre of York. Can’t ask for much more and we look forward to staying again in future.

My husband and I arrived a little earlier than check in time but this wasn’t a problem. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful member of staff who quickly explained the layout of York and where we were plus they settled us in our room sorted our parking and made us feel very much at home. This continued helpfulness through out out short break.

23 St Mary’s is perfectly located in a row of homes one block away from York Gardens and a short walk from the Bootham Bar entrance to central York. This is a location from which you could walk to and from Central York several times a day if you wanted. The hosts are very responsive, have made check in very easy and have provided a lovely and comfortable home in which to stay. Our room, 2, was spacious, with a very comfortable bed, and was perfect for our 4 night stay. Parking in York can be difficult but the owners are very helpful in securing a spot, especially if you book directly with them rather than through a broker. We loved our stay, as did the other guests we spoke with and definitely would recommend this to friends and family and return here ourselves.

Delightful B&B ideally placed to walk into York centre by River and to visit Railway Museum over river bridge. Room spotless and shower very good and clean. Optional full english or less expensive cereals etc. Very well placed if you wish to have a special meal at Roots.
