Kamiyama Onsen Hotel Shiki no Sato ＆ Iyashi no Yu is a hotel located in Kamiyama-cho, Nanishi-gun, Tokushima Prefecture. On August 30, 2022, we had lunch at Satokamiyama, a roadside station hot spring. After visiting Kamiichinomiya Oawa Shrine and Jinguji Temple, we came to Kamiyama Onsen Hotel Shiki no Sato ＆ Iyashi no Yu. The parking lot is very large. Of course, I couldn't enter the room at 12:18, but I decided to check in. This is because you can use the hot bath facility next door for free. The inside of the building looks like this. Sweat up at the hot bath facility and wait until time to head to the room. It is said that it is room 223 on the 2nd floor of a two-story building. In the atrium, an ice machine and a vending machine. Apart from the hot bath facility, there is a bathroom dedicated to guests. The bathroom dedicated to the guests is on the first floor down the stairs. It was a room just in front of the connecting passage to the hot bath facility. I expected ”grandmother who can't open the key”, but it was smoothly opened (bitter smile) The bamboo charcoal is placed next to the door, which is highly sensitivity. It is a Japanese-style room with 8 tatami mats. The view from the window is like this. TV, refrigerator, water heater. Washbasin. The toilet is a hot water toilet seat. For tea confectionery, ”Kamiyama Sudachi Duck Wars” wifi is perfect. This is 10,340 yen per person with half board per night. Moreover, 5,000 yen per 10,000 yen was refunded using the ”Tokushima Discount”, and a tour coupon was issued for 2,000 yen per person. The Laforet Tsurugiyama, where I stayed the day before, was similar. However, until now, it was a discount at the inn, but Tokushima Prefecture applied for it by itself and was refunded later. The hotel is just located on the left side of the station. It’s really wonderful. There is also a convenience store located at the ground floor which also makes our lives so much easier. The room (Hollywood twin) is a large and spacious room that can easily accommodate the opening of 2 large suitcases (28 inch). The bathroom is also generous in space, and we could actually move around freely and change clothes in the toilet for once (as compared to other chain hotels in Japan). It has all the comforts and amenities of a proper graded hotel, but the air conditioning was poor. Opened the windows but still felt a little warm throughout the night. The other minor “issue” I observed was how they tried to “automate” the check-in which is a failure in my opinion. Automation is to reduce workflow/ manual work required by parties. However in this case, I had to go to the reception desk for them to make copies of our passport and issue a card (to be used at the check-in machine). Thereafter I have to walk to the machine and insert the card, press a bunch of buttons to be issued the room and room key. So from a customer perspective I’m actually troubled twice, because I need to make 2 stops before actually getting my room. So what’s the point of this check-in machine? Fail to see the benefits of it.

We stayed for two nights and we enjoyed it. Located across the Tokushima JR station and next to a few shopping areas, it's easily accessible. The hotel car park lot (self-park) is just next to the hotel building and the parking fee is 800yen (3pm to 11noon, just one-time entry) and you can pay the fee at the hotel reception. The room we have is deluxe double, double bed at East Annex. The room is clean and comfortable. Just like other Japanese downtown business hotels, the room is not big but we able to open up two suitcases and still have room to move around. Breakfasts have Western & Japanese choices and we especially love they included local food and cuisine. Public onsen is located at the 11/F and we enjoyed it too. Staff are friendly and speak okay English.

The next morning departure was early, ”it is unpleasant that the hotel breakfast cannot be eaten”, and when I was looking for a cheap place for a night stay, this hit. There are also single, double, twin and family rooms, but if you can sleep cheaply, I recommend ”dormitory”. I think it is a hotel that can be added to one of the choices if you can walk from Tokushima Station １０ minutes and just sleep. And the mineral water free drink (any bottles in a PET bottle) was an unexpected service.

The Hotel is right on top of Japan Railway Tokushima Station and one minute walk from the main bus terminal in Tokushima, too. Very convenient not only to explore the city of Tokushima, but also to explore Tokushima's rich nature and culture, still hidden gem in Japan. Hotel was built about 30 years ago but it is well maintained and rooms are spacious compared with more recent ones. Hotel staffs are very courteous. It forms a part of the station building where you can find many restaurants with Japanese and local flavors as well as souvenir shops.

Use this hotel as an awa Odori viewing. The good bed is not normal and bad. Air conditioner display and room lamp display are English. Although it is an old facility, it is difficult to understand. Air conditioning setting, room lamp display, etc. There is a round table for one person and a long desk in the room. There is also a TV. About 1.7 km to awa Odori venue, Tokushima station. About 25 minutes walk. When you ask the lobby person about the means of transportation, the bus is in front of the next prefectural office, but one hour. It is said that everyone goes on foot because the taxi is also crowded. It came out at 17 o'clock in the middle of summer evening, but it is still hot. 1.7 km walk 25 minutes, sweat, duck! It is easy to be in a commercial facility called Amiko, but compared to the hotel near the liquid, it does not return to physical strength! So, after seeing the dance of the kusunoki beach, a little free dance hall, the ryokokubashi dance hall? Small dance hall? I walked around the awa dance pedestrian heaven area and walked through it! If you proposed a taxi near the station, I saw it better! The traffic regulation was from 18 o'clock, so it was not crowded even in the taxi at 17 o'clock. I feel the shallowness of the response of the lobby. I think it was a mess. No. I felt like a hotel that strongly sought efficiency, but I think it was shallow. I feel the danger of our hotel in the staff consciousness that it is normal to walk 25 minutes in midsummer. If you go to awa Odori, you don't know, but you may use smile hotel Tokushima and so on. Can I park at the hotel in front of the station this time? I was worried. This hotel was about ２００ planes and three-dimensional, and it was free. It is a thought and trouble.

It was a quiet and clean hotel, close to about 5 minutes walk from Tokushima Station. The parking lot was in the building opposite the road and it was difficult to understand, but it was good to be free. Breakfast became a restaurant on the 1 floor, but there was a sense of liberation. There were various types and it was good. I think the cospa was good overall.
