I had an amazing experience here. Upon arrival, I even received a complimentary room upgrade, which was such a wonderful surprise. The hotel is brand new, and everything feels fresh and well maintained. The owner is incredibly helpful and goes out of his way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. He’s always ready to answer questions or give advice. He also runs his own travel agency, and through him, I visited Tashkurgan — definitely a trip worth taking and a highlight of my journey. In short: an excellent stay with outstanding service. Highly recommended!

Arriving late at night in winter and being able to go straight to the hotel from the airport without stepping outside was incredibly convenient. It saved us from having to pack an extra set of clothes (which for a family of four is a lot! 😂). The other facilities were also great, meeting both the price and our expectations. A pleasant surprise was the wide variety of delivery food available, and the taste was super good! I'll definitely keep choosing this place in the future. Here's a tip: If you've got a car parked at the hotel, don't be shy – just drive slowly towards the main gate and it will open automatically. 😂 One thing to note is that the underfloor heating is incredibly warm, very warm... Even among all the places we stayed during our two-week trip with central heating, theirs was the hottest. This made the air really dry. The humidifier provided was quite mini, so I'd suggest upgrading it. For someone from the south, this kind of dry heat is really hard to get used to. 😂 Lacking self-help solutions for this only adds to the hassle for both guests and staff. I truly hope the tourism industry in Xinjiang continues to thrive!

This hotel offers amazing value for the price! It has a unique, exotic charm and is very clean and tidy. We booked the family suite, which was cozy, spacious, and came with a fridge. The bathroom also had a separate wet and dry area. The front desk staff, especially one lovely lady, was incredibly gentle and had a sweet smile that brightened our day. The breakfast was excellent (perfect for people from the South). It's also very close to the Kashgar Old City, and the Kunlun Tower is right next door, offering stunning night views.

A generally smooth stay with a helpful front desk staff, though the airport transfer set the tone with an unexpected hour‑long wait between calling the hotel and the bus finally departing; fortunately, this only created a small dent in what was otherwise reliable and good service. A simple suggestion: if delays are likely, being upfront about it would be appreciated, as many guests are more than happy to arrange their own transport and pay for it themselves.

Overall, the hotel experience was fantastic! 🎉 The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was super comfortable, especially the latex pillow which made for a really sound sleep. The electric curtains were a nice touch for convenience. The front desk also thoughtfully provided breakfast, which had a great variety and delicious food. I particularly enjoyed the local yogurt and dried fruits, they were very unique. Compared to guesthouses, chain hotels definitely have a much higher standard when it comes to cleanliness and facilities.

My friend and I stayed at the Tianyuan Hangyou Hotel during a layover in Urumqi, and it was the perfect choice for a short stay near the airport. The location is extremely convenient - just ~15 minutes away from the terminal, which made our transit hassle-free. The hotel offers a shuttle service to and from the airport, which was a great advantage. Though the hotel could use minor renovations, the price-to-quality ratio is excellent. The room had all the essentials: slippers, toothbrushes and toothpaste, a comb, a hairdryer, an electric kettle, cups, and bottled water. The Wi-Fi worked well, which was important for us to plan our day trip and order a taxi. One of the highlights was the breakfast buffet, which offered a good variety of options. Even if you're not yet accustomed to Chinese cuisine, you can find simple choices like boiled eggs and mantou (steamed buns). For sightseeing, the city center and main attractions (such as the Xinjiang Museum, Red Hill Park, the Grand Bazaar, and the mosque) are about 30 minutes away by taxi. We managed to explore all of them in a day. Nearby, there are also local markets, convenience stores, and small cafés for snacks and essentials. Overall, if you need a comfortable, budget-friendly hotel close to Urumqi Airport with good service and decent amenities, Tianyuan Hangyou Hotel is a great option. Highly recommended for transit travelers!

I was hesitant before booking this place because it's far from the city center but close to the train station. However, taxis in Yining are incredibly easy to hail and super cheap! (I usually take public transport whenever possible, but Xinjiang, apart from Urumqi's Line 1, doesn't have a subway, and buses are hard to wait for, though you can if you're patient. This Backpacker's Ten Years hostel is also close to a bus stop.) I don't know if I was just lucky, but all seven or eight times I took a taxi, it was a female driver, and the cars all smelled great – it made the whole experience fantastic. The exterior of this Backpacker's Ten Years hostel is designed like a 'Red Dust Inn' (a style of ancient Chinese inn). The common areas are incredibly spacious, with billiards, computers, projection screens, TVs, and a pair of super friendly cats. The bed was enormous, I'd say 1.5m (I'm not sure if that's exact, but I was genuinely shocked when I first saw it). It was off-season, and I booked a 10-bed dorm. The front desk lady said if the bottom bunks in the 10-bed dorm were full, she'd put me in a bottom bunk in an 8-bed dorm, which was a nice gesture. The bathroom had plenty of hooks and a waterproof curtain, which was great. I didn't wash any large items of clothing since it was winter, so I can't comment on the drying area.

This is currently the best hotel in Kashgar, with excellent ambiance and facilities. Just a small suggestion: the coffee cups are a bit too large to fit in the coffee machine. The location is very convenient; several city attractions are within walking distance. The only downside was getting an invoice. I checked out at 8:52 AM, added the front desk on WeChat for businesses, and clearly explained everything. The front desk promised to issue it in the afternoon, but it wasn't done all day, and there was no response from them on WeChat. The service industry should at least ensure basic services, especially for what is currently ranked as Kashgar's number one hotel.

GGuest UserI was a little worried after reading some online reviews, but when I opened the room door, I was pleasantly surprised. The room was spacious, and the wallpaper and murals were quite unique. Despite it being the off-season, the hotel service was still excellent. Breakfast was delivered to the room, and the selection was plentiful. The location is superb; the visitor center is just around the corner.

AAnonymous UserOverall, my experience was fantastic, but I have to give a special shout-out to the front desk staff – they were incredibly warm and welcoming! From the moment I walked in to check-in, the lady at the front desk greeted me with a big smile and a very friendly tone. She even helped me out with a few small requests, which really made me feel right at home. Apart from that, the hotel's facilities and environment were excellent too. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient. I'll definitely be staying here again on my next visit and will happily recommend it to my friends!

2206295****I didn't have high hopes for this non-chain hotel, but it actually exceeded my expectations! The room was spacious, the view was great, and the facilities were excellent, including a smart toilet and smart system. The wet and dry areas were separate, though the layout could be a bit more practical. The curtains were semi-automatic. The heating was quite strong, so much so that I had to open a window. There's also a self-service laundry room, perfect for those staying a bit longer for skiing or business trips. The only minor points were the limited breakfast variety and average taste, but I wouldn't call those downsides. Even though I only stayed one night, it left a lasting impression because it was the best accommodation of my entire trip to Altay 😂. Later, when I went skiing in Hemu, even a Holiday Inn costing over 4,000 yuan a night couldn't compare to this place. I rarely write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience now. I hope the hotel continues its excellent work and gets even better; it will definitely be my top choice for future visits to Altay.

TTravis and ElishaWow! What an amazing place to stay and how lucky we were to find it. By far the best place we stayed in China. Mrs. Li (the owner) was so genuinely nice and caring, and we felt like part of the family staying there. One of my favorite things in Kashgar was hanging out with her and her family in the evenings. She always invited us at night to hangout in the common area where she would make us tea and share her fresh and dried fruits with us. She was really good at using a translator app, so we were able to have a good conversation with her through that. She has a great little family. Her son speaks good English and was also very nice. She had a young daughter who also speaks English, but is more shy with it (though she will sing you a Taylor Swift song..she has a great voice). They have 3 cats and the youngest one, little tiger, is just the sweetest and the friendliest cat I have ever met. It was such a good and warm feeling to stay there. We definitely wish we could visit again. A home away from home. And we were treated so generously in more ways than we can write here. Mrs. Li asked us right away if there was anything she could help us with, without us having to ask, which we really appreciated, and she took the time to sit down with us to go over our plans. She let us store our luggage for 3 days and walked us out to help us get a taxi when we departed. While it was the family that made it simply amazing, some might also be interested in the following information. The location is great. On a quiet street. Close to the big mosque which is a good landmark to use to find the area. And of course close to the old city. It's also really close to the biggest supermarket we have found thus far in China (we have to admit it was nice to get a few ”luxuries” from home like cereal and hot chocolate). The guesthouse is cute and has a Central Asian feel. The shower works great and is hot. We were there in the winter, and the room has heat if you needed it. Mrs. Li was able to arrange a driver for us to go to Tashkorgun and the Karakorum Highway, which was super helpful. The place was nice and clean. Thank you so much Mrs. Li! You will be a highlight of our visit to China and will be remembered in our hearts forever. -Travis and Elisha (Colorado, USA) PS: when we get home I'm going to try to write up a bit about our trip on Tripadvisor because I couldn't find anything about Kashgar on trip advisor since covid, and some things have changed, so I thought it might be helpful for fellow travelers, so look for that.

BBlade.around.the.worldAfter a pleasant stay at the Green Tree Eastern in Kashgar, I decided to try the Green Tree Eastern in Urumqi. First impressions were mixed: while the exterior and lobby are fairly underwhelming, the rooms themselves are noticeably better presented. Check-in was quick and efficient, and both the receptionist and security staff were friendly and welcoming. My Ctrip booking included a complimentary upgrade from a standard room to a superior room; however, this upgrade was neither provided nor acknowledged at check-in. The hotel’s location is one of its stronger points. It is situated next to a Chinese shopping district and close to a metro station with direct airport access. That said, the hotel name is misleading—despite implying proximity to the Urumqi Grand Bazaar, the bazaar is actually one metro stop away or about a 30-minute walk. The room itself was acceptable at first glance, but closer inspection revealed significant mold and holes near the bathroom wall. The room temperature remained uncomfortably cold at around 16°C, and the heating system did not appear to be functioning properly. The most serious issue occurred after taking a shower, when all of the drainage water leaked through the wall and completely flooded the room. I immediately informed the front desk about the flooding and also mentioned the missing complimentary upgrade. Unfortunately, there was a translation misunderstanding, and the receptionist believed I was requesting an upgrade to a suite. Together with the security agent, we inspected the room, and they acknowledged both the flooding and the lack of heating. I was then upgraded to a suite, for which I am grateful—though I want to be clear that I never intended to demand a suite upgrade. What truly surprised me was discovering that the same defective room was cleaned and reassigned to another guest that very evening, apparently without any repairs. It is difficult to understand how a hotel would reissue a room with such serious issues. On a positive note, housekeeping staff were extremely kind and friendly. However, during our five-night stay, the bedsheets were never changed. Overall, the Green Tree Eastern Urumqi is not a terrible hotel, but the experience was far from smooth and did not meet the standard set by the Green Tree Eastern property in Kashgar. With better maintenance, clearer communication, and improved housekeeping practices, this hotel could be much better.

TTiyubu00🏨 Urumqi Flora Secret Realm Hotel | A True Bargain During Off-Season! 3-Day, 2-Night Real Experience Stayed from March 13th-15th, 2026. The off-season price was great, and I got a free room upgrade, but I also encountered power outages, stuffiness, and poor soundproofing. Here’s an honest breakdown of the pros and cons 👇 📍 Location: Convenient for getting anywhere • Jinquan Shopping Mall – 5-10 minute walk (the basement is fantastic for browsing, handicrafts are cheap) • International Grand Bazaar – 15-25 minute walk • Hetian Erjie (Second Street) – 20-30 minute walk (a foodie paradise) • Small market behind the hotel – downstairs; offers grilled skewers, grilled eggs, and fruit at night, full of local life • Taxis – starting fare 8-12 yuan, plenty of empty cabs during off-season, easy to get around 🏨 Stay Experience Price: Super affordable during the off-season (March), nearly half the price of peak season. Room Upgrade: The front desk proactively upgraded my room, which significantly enhanced my stay 👍 Power Outage: The entire street experienced a power outage on the first night, not the hotel's fault. Recovery was quick during the off-season. Front Desk Service: You can store luggage, making it convenient to explore the Grand Bazaar after check-out. Decor Style: Very satisfied! A ”secret realm” vibe, dark tones with warm lighting, high quality, and great for photos 📸 ⚠️ Two Minor Issues Underfloor Heating Too Hot: Staying in March, it was so stuffy at night that I sweated and woke up several times due to the heat. Average Soundproofing: I could hear people talking in the hallway and doors opening/closing next door. It wasn't too bad since there were few guests during the off-season, but I'd recommend earplugs for sensitive sleepers. 🍜 Nearby Food • Hetian Erjie: Ailijiang Hetian Nankeng Rou, Kashi Yiba Zhua • Small market behind the hotel: Downstairs, offers grilled skewers, baked buns, cheaper than the Grand Bazaar. • Near Jinquan Shopping Mall: Local breakfast spots, beef noodles, milk tea. 🚕 Transportation • Airport: Taxi 60-70 yuan, 40 minutes • Train Station: Taxi 15-20 yuan, 15 minutes • Within the city: Generally 8-15 yuan ✅ Who it's suitable for Suitable for: Off-season travelers, those seeking good value, wanting to explore the Grand Bazaar and Hetian Erjie, and those who appreciate hotels with a stylish design. Not suitable for: Those with extremely high demands for soundproofing or who are sensitive to room temperature while sleeping. 💡 Check-in Tips 1. Bring earplugs as a backup. 2. Spend half a day exploring the basement of Jinquan Shopping Mall. 3. Don't miss the small market behind the hotel at night. 4. Store your luggage after check-out, then pick it up after you're done sightseeing. 5. If staying in winter, bring a short-sleeved shirt in case it gets too hot, so you have something to change into. 6. Bring a humidifier; it's very dry. The hotel has them, but I didn't use theirs. ✅ Overall Review Flora isn't a perfect hotel – it had power outages, stuffiness, and soundproofing issues. However, its location, price, and decor style are truly a rare find in Urumqi city center. In March during the off-season, two nights with a free room upgrade, I was very satisfied. I would choose it again next time, just remember to bring a short-sleeved shirt 😅 “The off-season surprises are hidden in those minor flaws.” 🌙

EEdmund T Y LeeWe are a couple from Singapore. After traveling through Northwest China for more than four weeks and staying in several hotels, we found our experience at Return Inn, Kashgar, to be the best—it left the most positive impression in its price range. The owner does not speak English, but we could communicate via a translation device. His attitude was very sincere and warm, making us feel like we were meeting an old friend. The hotel is located very close to the ancient city. Although the facilities are basic, it has hot water, WiFi, and is very clean and tidy. There is no elevator, but the owner helped us carry our luggage upstairs. Highly recommended!

AAnonymous UserThis is my second time visiting Xinjiang, and I chose to stay here again. The service is absolutely top-notch! It's not the cold, trained politeness you find in five-star hotels; all the staff here radiate a genuine warmth that makes you feel incredibly comfortable. **Service:** No matter how late it was, the front desk and the security guards at the door were always so welcoming, greeting me warmly and proactively helping with my luggage. Plus, they offer a special nightly foot bath service, which is incredibly thoughtful. **Minibar:** There's even a little card on the table reminding guests to help themselves – they practically insist you eat and drink! 😂 The breakfast is also very rich, with a great variety of vegetables.

JJill CassandraA Hidden Gem That Feels Like Coming Home Tucked away in the embrace of raw, untouched nature, MuseNomad Retreat is the kind of place that feels almost too beautiful to be real — like stepping into a postcard. Yet behind the picture-perfect setting is something even more special: the kind of warmth and care that turns a stay into a memory. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely cared for. The owners go above and beyond to ensure every guest feels at ease. One gesture I’ll never forget — I was rushing for a tour and hadn’t managed to press my clothes. Though there’s a laundry room available, the owner personally helped me iron them, refusing any payment. That small act of kindness stayed with me. We’ve stayed in many retreats claiming to offer luxury, but this place redefines what true luxury means. Here, you pay a 3-star rate and receive a 5-star experience in comfort, sincerity, and service. The rooms are cleaned daily with meticulous attention to detail — we were even touched to find our own tea and coffee sachets neatly arranged by housekeeping. Meals were another highlight. The food has that unmistakable home-cooked feel — warm, nourishing, made with care. When they learned I don’t eat beef or mutton, the kitchen prepared special dishes just for me, without a fuss. That kind of consideration is rare and deeply appreciated. And how could I forget Tian Tian — the gentle, lovable golden retriever who quietly added to the homey atmosphere. Her presence made the stay even more special, like having a sweet companion always nearby. MuseNomad Retreat isn’t just a place to stay — it’s a place to truly rest. Of all the accommodations we’ve experienced across our travels, this one touched us the most. As our three nights came to a close, I felt a genuine sadness — a quiet wish that we could stay just a little longer. If you’re looking for a restful, heartfelt escape where nature, comfort, and kindness meet, this is the place. MuseNomad Retreat is not just somewhere we stayed — it’s somewhere we’ll remember fondly, and miss dearly.
