We booked a compact double at an extremely good price so the room was small as expected but it had everything we needed.
The breakfasts were excellent and i loved that they served til 10am. I loved the vibrant quirky look of the public areas. Our room overlooked the estuary and was at the end of the corridor. Lovely and warm and relatively quiet
My only gripe were the loud fan in the ensuite and the inability to have a softer night light. The nascerator toilet was also very loud .
For the money we were delughted with the service , location and amrnities
The hotel is right next to the University of Essex, making it very convenient to get to the school. The rooms are spacious with balconies and great views. However, the bathroom facilities are a bit basic; the shower curtain is narrow, barely covering the entire shower area, so water splashes everywhere. Public transportation is inconvenient; it's a 10-minute walk to the bus stop.
Everything was fine in till I open the window and the who thing came off meaning the window fall out and I was with my family on the 5th floor and it’s a family room 518 so that was dangerous for my family to be fair so please sort it out asap before someone makes a fat claim

The room was clean and tidy with great natural light, and the bedding was comfortable, leading to a very restful sleep. The facilities were complete, and the soundproofing was good, so it was quiet overall. The front desk staff were warm and attentive, making both check-in and check-out quick and easy. The location is convenient for getting around, and it offers excellent value for money. I would definitely choose this hotel again for my next trip.
My experience here at Harlow hotel was amazing the staff are incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming nothing isnt to much breakfast is incredible as the dinner is to I will definitely recommend the hotel to friends family

I booked a last minute night away with the children: afternoon tea followed by an overnight. The afternoon tea was delicious and I was really well catered for as a vegan diner. The Grand Hall was a beautiful setting for afternoon tea. The children also loved their food - the sandwiches were much simpler for the children and they got seconds based on how delicious they were. Our room was large and had a sofa bed and a cot bed. We enjoyed playing in the grounds including the play area, outdoor chess, boules, the scavenger hunt and the fitness trail. My son also loved playing football in the garden - he was excited that there were goals set up. We had dinner in The Fox Bar and had drinks and played cards in the Grand Hall afterwards. Breakfast the next morning was delicious. We were really excited to find newts in the pond. They would love to stay again. I would love to come for an overnight with my partner to experience it differently without the children.
I contacted customer services about 2 issues but no return call! Housekeeper tried to change the temperature but no success. Even the bathroom was far too hot. Roadworks & repairs to the bar below were taking place but no apology. Finally, card box broken into but again, no apology from reception. No amenities used across the road in the pub.
Great hotel with a lot of history to it, and as such a very nice place to stay at. Friendly and approachable staff. Unfortunately, I had booked two rooms without adequate facilities; one room did not have hot water and the other had a malfunctioning shower. Could have been bad luck, and I suspect the hotel management to be able to fix this issue.
Great location, parking eas a squeeze bit we managed to park both days.
The room was lovely with a spacious bathroom, had aircon whoch was a treat for uk rooms but it was very noisy even on low. The bed was on the small size which meant my 6 ft 2 husband found it uncomfortable especially given that it was hot during our stay.
The blackout window blind was helpful, but could have done with being a few millimeters wider to prevent the bright morning light from shining in.
We didn't eat at the hotel but the menu looked great and we saw others eating as we entered and exited. We did have a few drinks (our non-alcoholic drink was more expensive than an alcoholic drink) which were on the expensive side, but again to be expected when you are in a hotel.
All in all we would stay again if there was a room with a bigger bed.

The hotel is new, quiet, clean, and convenient. The only downside is the strong formaldehyde smell. Breakfast was good, a classic English breakfast with hot dishes, though limited vegetables. Hot water was available. Overall, it was good.

GGuest UserJust a few points of feedback:
I paid for breakfast up front - which was meant to be open from 7am. However, what really happened was that breakfast (prepared by the Receptionist - who was very helpful) started to be prepared from 7am-ish. Coffee, microwave toastie, juice etc duly handed over in a paper bag (I was not the only one waiting) - but this was not ready 'till ~7.20am. Makes a difference if you need to eat and get on your way.
Also, £2.50 for the car-park - why? It's not the money - just the impression given.
The restaurant is Indian cooking - which I enjoyed. Waiter was pleasant and efficient.
Room was basic. Clean but a few cobwebs in the cupboards. No AC.

NNadlouThe 4sisters Inn (not advertised as this on arrival) is located offside a road and it is likened to a U.S motel style layout. Upon arrival we were greeted and shown to our room. The room was described as a superior twin with garden view. The room was large and had 2 beds which were bigger than a standard size singles.
There is a kettle with cups and drinking glasses, tea & coffee sachets, milk. Flat screen tv on wall.
There is a wall fan and a wall heater, also 2 hairdryers.
A small closed room with coat hangers in for coats.
The so called garden view was just a bit of land with trees overgrown area which was littered with glass bottles & rubbish.
There was a wetroom/toilet. The decor had 1 wall with brown/ cream tiles and 3 walls with grey/silver plastic tongue & groove it was odd and was very mismatched. There were no hooks or rail to hang towels/ clothes in the room.
The water drainage grate was broken.
2 bath towels and hand towels were provided.
We booked this place as it was a convenient location to east 15 drama school, there isn't much around the area. There is a Miller & Carter restaurant 2 mins away and onside a small animal visitor centre and an MMA boxing club.
On reflection this place needs a complete decor renovation and a deep clean but it was comfortable and was OK for the price.
PPSDIVAThe hotel is conveniently located within walking distance of Stansted Airport. The room, while not particularly spacious for a family, was clean and well maintained. Reception staff were helpful and welcoming. However, breakfast and restaurant options for vegans or vegetarians (without egg) were rather limited.
One concern arose in the restaurant; a member of staff declined my son’s request to sit at a particular table, stating it was for five guests, though we were three. I explained that we would leave early if seated there, but the request was still refused. We accepted another table, yet later two guests were offered the same table, with the explanation that more people would join them. In fact, no additional guests arrived, and my son was disappointed that he had not been allowed to sit there. The restaurant was not particularly busy that day, which made the situation feel unnecessary.

BBambamGStayed overnight for a wedding in the area. Convenient online check-in & check out. Had to pay £20 for early check in. Parking was an extra £12 overnight. Great facilities including pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Plenty of choice at breakfast including dairy free milk. Friendly staff.

GGuest UserI am going to make a point about the service in Novotel: I was greeted by Gita and she has done an absolute excellent job. I have asked for a quiet room so I can have some sleep as had an early flight. I have passed my special thank you to Gita when I was leaving, through a receptionist man, early morning. The hotel room was ready on my arrival but obviously it needs updating as looks scratchy, and shabby but it didn't effect me at all, for night before the flight it was excellent! I would definitely recommend the hotel and will be back again. Many thanks to Gita and manager Jastina.
GGuest UserWe had a good stay although our sleep was disrupted as we could not turn off the air con we tried numerous things numerous times and it would not turn off it was loud and kept us awake.
Breakfast was OK although no real vegetarian options such as veggie/vegan sausages etc and had to wait a while for things to be topped up.
Restaurant was nice however and staff were friendly.
