Drove to JB during CNY and stayed for 2 nights, initially room assigned at lower floor and my wife had some depression issue, with the help of Aulia , we managed to be relocated to higher floor.
KSL got the best location and surrounded by lots of cafe, eateries and foot spas , we also managed to play fireworks and firecrackers since our last play 40 years ago. It’s a memorable and wonderful trip.

Check-in process is fast and seamless. The receptionist was courteous and accommodating of request when I asked for 1 more card key. The room is of good size and generally clean. However, the shower area is mouldy and needs quite abit of scrub down. Basic amenities are available, including room slippers (important as the carpet is abit damp). Mattress is off good support although the pillows smells used (not smells from fresh laundry). Overcome it by laying face towel over the pillow. We had a good night rest. Aircon setting is responsive to adjustments which is a plus point. Breakfast is included and a decent spread and quality.
I chose Opero Hotel Southkey for my recent trip to Johor Bahru, and I was very satisfied with the overall experience. It's a hotel with excellent value for money.
📍 The location is incredibly convenient:
The hotel is right next to Mid Valley Southkey Mall, just a few minutes' walk downstairs. Eating, shopping, and buying things are completely hassle-free, making it perfect for short trips or weekend getaways.
🛏️ Room Experience:
The room was clean, with a simple and modern design. The bed was very comfortable, and the soundproofing was good, so it was quiet at night.
The bathroom had stable water pressure and plenty of hot water. The overall maintenance was excellent; it didn't feel like an old hotel at all.
🍽️ Full Marks for Lifestyle Convenience:
* The mall offers a huge variety (restaurants, cafes, supermarkets, massage, beauty products – you name it).
* It's super convenient for late-night snacks, coffee, or buying daily necessities.
* No need to take a special taxi to the city center; you can still have a great time.
🚗 Transportation & Getting Around:
* From Singapore, you can take a Grab directly after clearing CIQ.
* The hotel has parking spaces, so it's convenient if you're driving.
* Taking a taxi to the city center, KSL, or City Square is also a short ride.
💬 Service Experience:
The front desk staff were friendly, and both check-in and check-out were smooth.
Responses to questions were quick, which was reassuring.
✨ In summary:
If you're looking for a clean, quiet, super convenient hotel near a mall in Johor Bahru, you really can't go wrong with Opero Hotel Southkey. The breakfast was delicious too.
It's suitable for couples, friends, or short weekend stays. I'd definitely stay here again on my next visit to JB 👍

Okay, Fives is definitely not a five-star hotel, but honestly, the location, price, and staff more than make up for it. Pros: Price is shiok — especially if you book a few weeks in advance. Your wallet confirm happy. Location solid — Yes, it’s a few hundred metres further than the big-name hotels, but still right opposite Komtar JBCC. Just cross the road and you’re there lor. Staff all very steady — Always cheerful and polite. Stayed here more than three times already, and every time feels like coming home (minus the nagging from mum). Facilities okay one — No pool, but got a big, comfy lobby where you can nua while waiting for your Grab. Best part? Got a huge convenience store inside the lobby that opens till 2am. Supper crisis solved lah. Cons: No pool lor. So if you wanna float around in a bikini, go somewhere else. Never tried the breakfast spread, so cannot comment. Maybe nice, maybe meh. Other notes: Rooms are small-small one, and while they look clean, maybe don’t go CSI mode and inspect too closely. Not a dealbreaker though — just manage your expectations. Verdict: If you’re in JB for one or two nights, and you just want a good location, great price, and no-frills stay, this one is perfect.

This is my third time staying here, and I’m still satisfied with the service provided. The only downside this time was that the room didn’t have a safety deposit box, and it was located on the first floor in the middle section, so it was quite noisy due to traffic and people hanging out by the roadside. If you want a quieter room, request one on the 2nd–3rd floor at the end of the wing.
Bad:
The housekeeping staff isn't adequately trained; they definitely need more education! When we first entered our room, the shower room door was locked. We immediately went to the lobby to speak with the front desk. Thankfully, they communicated quickly, and a male cleaning staff member came to our room right away. He eventually managed to open the shower room with a key, but he didn't seem familiar with how the water heater worked, just randomly turning knobs to try and adjust the water pressure and temperature for us.
Every night, the shower water wasn't hot enough, wasn't consistent, and the water pressure was too low. On our last night, we bravely tried turning all the knobs ourselves and were finally able to adjust the water pressure and temperature separately, though there was only a slight difference.
Housekeeping threw away our toothbrushes, toothpaste, and hand soap that we had placed next to the sink. 😡 They also carelessly placed our pajamas and sleepwear on top of our closed suitcase! 😡😡😡 Our suitcase travels across states and provinces on flights, so the exterior has a lot of bacteria! How can housekeeping have absolutely no sense of hygiene? This made us extremely angry!!!
**The water dispenser in the lobby frequently had a 'cannot refill' sign, often running out of water or hot water.**
**You definitely need to use Grab for transportation.**
**The Wi-Fi was very slow and unstable; even simple paperwork was impossible.**
Good:
Overall, the hotel is new and clean, with some snacks available in the lobby.
The room space is adequate.
The lobby and exterior look good.
The front desk staff was efficient and communicative, which was good.
They provided small travel-sized shampoo and shower gel daily.
They also provided toothbrushes and small travel-sized toothpaste daily.
There are many restaurants and massage places nearby. A KFC and AEON supermarket are just a 10-minute walk away.
There's a small area in the hallway for ironing clothes.

Upon arrival, the hotel made a decent first impression. Parking was a bit cramped, but the front desk service was excellent and efficient, and we didn't have to wait long for the elevator.
However, the room's cleanliness was a major issue. The headboard had a lot of white dust, the pillowcase contained black hair, and the sheets had black marks and more hair. The bathtub was cracked, which scratched my toes, and definitely needs updating. The showerhead was positioned awkwardly, and the corner of the toilet door was moldy.
Breakfast offered a good variety, and the food was decent overall. A big plus was how quickly staff cleared used dishes and refilled food items.
On the downside, some hotel restaurant staff were not wearing masks or gloves. I also witnessed staff putting food that had fallen on the display table directly back onto the platter. The person refilling the fresh milk also needs to be more hygienic and professional. Furthermore, many people in the breakfast restaurant were tripping over the plastic covers for electrical wires on the floor, which is a significant safety hazard and could lead to injuries and potential liability claims for the hotel.
Overall, the hotel really needs to improve its hygiene standards.

Our room was on the 15th floor with a lovely view of the city. A card is needed to go to our floor. The twin beds were very comfortable with clean duvet and 2 pillows with sockets beside both beds for charging your devices. A table with 2 chairs in the corner. There was no wall socket to plug the cable for the kettle so had to move it to the table next to the bed. 2 bottles of free mineral water and usual coffee, tea and sugar with a spacious fridge. The bathroom was big and clean with a bidet spray. Hotel is about 10 min walk to City Square with many eateries nearby. The receptionist offered to heat up our food for sahor which was great of him. Will stay here again.

We’ve stayed here previously but this is the worst 2-nights stay in the old wing of Grand Paragon! The housekeeping staff did not clean the dusty fabric headboard which I had to do so with it’s layers of dust. There were missing glass tumbler, slippers, tissue paper & the safe-box was locked, too. The shower curtains were too short so water tends to spill out. We were given 1 extra pillow when we requested for extra 2 pillows as it was too flat. Their excuse was that it was the hotel’s policy even though the hotel was half empty! Housekeeping did not clean our room even with the Clean-up sign on our door on the 2nd day. Reception was informed of it in the evening when we came back to our room. They had the audacity to say that we were going to check-out the next day (3rd day), anyway! We had 2 full dust-bin of rubbish, no shampoo, bath gel, bath towels, hand towels, wc paper, etc & we desperately needed to take a shower. Eventually Housekeeping brought the items & meekly apologise that he was the Evening Shift staff. We understood his situation, thank & tip him for his assistance. The next day, we tried the gym. It’s windows had dust streaks & were very dirty, too. Some of the exercising seats were cracked & uncomfortable.
Breakfast was nice at the cafe with freshly ground coffee, Nasi lemak, noodles & fresh bread. Avoid the ones in the coffee/tea pots as it’s diluted and tasted unfresh. The staff were quite friendly.
Stay here, if you can over-look this dirty environment.

KKhairul DanishLoved our stay at Fraser Place, especially the beautiful view from the room. The breakfast was awesome — we stayed for 3 nights and the menu changed every day, so we never felt bored. My kids especially loved the bathtub, which is something many hotels don’t have nowadays. Overall, a very comfortable and enjoyable stay for our family.
AAnonymous UserThis hotel is conveniently located just 160 meters, a 5-minute walk, from Aeon Mall Bukit Indah, surrounded by restaurants, cafes, and spas. Sutera Mall is also easily accessible by car. Legoland and Hello Kitty Town are only about a 10-15 minute drive away, and there's even a direct bus service to Singapore.
GGuest Useri have nothing bad to say, this is definitely 1 of the best hotel apartment i have ever stayed. my youngest son doesn't want to leave the hotel. he cried and ran back to the lift lobby asking to go back to the hotel room when we had already checked out. great for families, breakfast was ok , quite good, the room excellent, pool was nice and cold. definitely coming back here.
NNHTDSgoeswhereWe had a total of 9 pax (4 adults, 5kids) and we took the 4 bedroom apartment. 4 rooms, 3 bathrooms. We got the one on 45th floor. If ur afraid of heights like i am, the room we got is facing the causeway. So it wasnt that bad. The apartment is clean and feels very homey. The only downside as usual is the internet connection bcos its very near sg so ur internet will be back and forth with sg connection. TV has youtube and netflix. But no local channels. Below has mamak shop, minimart and laundry. We had a wonderful stay the kids didnt want to go home.
CCHONG SIAU HWAFour Points by Sheraton Desaru offers a comfortable and family-friendly stay with clean, spacious rooms and warm, helpful staff. Breakfast has good variety, and nearby shops are convenient. Not beachfront, but shuttle service makes getting around easy. Overall, great value for a relaxing Desaru trip.
JJaymie SooThe good:
comfortable bed, decent cleanliness, working aircon, game console was cool, nice view at #48.
The bad:
Host expect you to contact them on the day else no sound no pic.
Sent a series of pictures and videos, shock to see they asked for deposit and my passport photo as part of their requirements. I’m not comfortable with that.
Drivers beware: This unit located at B1-2 is damn troublesome. I had to park outside the gantry and walked all the way to the end of the building (approx 200m one way) to get the card. The guard weren’t familiar with such arrangement had to call another guard over to assist in order to let me into the mailroom to retrieve the access card.
After that had to walk all the way back again to the entrance. When I drove to the gantry, the access card didn’t work, guard had to come over again to assist. End up found out it’s because the previous user did not “tap out” so we can’t “tap in”.
The wayfinding in the carpark is worse ever. Don’t know where to go up, don’t know where to exit. Turn round and round the entire carpark to find and realised it’s in the middle of nowhere.
Now for the accommodation itself, it’s decent. Towels were provided. No toothbrush provided but 8 combs provided instead (pic). The cups were damn disgusting (pic).
Overall will not return as the carpark and checkin experience was really a huge turnoff.
AAnonymous UserJust another stay at this hotel.
It’s all for the convenience.
But this time the price went up a little.
Not sure how the hotel differentiates the different room types and pricing?
Well…. I probably will stay here again
AAdillawatiThis was my first stay at Sheraton Hotel Johor Bahru, and as someone who places a lot of value on customer service, the team genuinely exceeded my expectations. Across multiple departments, the staff consistently showed a positive attitude, thoughtful consideration, and a clear willingness to go the extra mile for guests.
During breakfast, staff regularly greeted us and checked in to see if we needed anything. Even during peak hours, another team member managed the lift flow smoothly so the lifts could be used more efficiently. I also appreciated how staff didn’t just point us in a direction—they guided and accompanied us to available tables, which made the whole experience feel warm and well-organised.
My family was especially tired after arriving late at night, and we were momentarily lost while trying to find the reception lobby on Level 5. The security guard responded to our questions with patience and grace, and that same welcoming energy continued during check-in. The guest relations officer answered my breakfast questions with such kindness and a big smile—even when I was experiencing serious brain fog (lol!).
It’s these small, consistent acts of care—paired with genuine positivity—that set this hotel apart.
I also completely understand how Sheraton Hotel Johor Bahru lives up to its reputation as a family-friendly hotel. We spotted the kiddie pool with water slides, and Mizan had an absolute blast splashing and playing there. The pool area itself felt thoughtfully planned—well laid out, with facilities that made it easy to enjoy the space while still feeling calm and relaxing.
The room delivered too, especially in comfort and cleanliness. The bed was incredibly inviting (the kind you immediately want to melt into), and the overall bedroom layout felt cozy and well designed—simple, comfortable, and easy to settle into after a long day.
One more thoughtful touch that really stood out: the hotel even had a balloonist on-site creating balloon designs for the children. Honestly—what family-friendly hotel goes the extra mile to do that? It was such a simple but brilliant idea, and you could see how much it delighted the kids. His balloons definitely made the young guests happy, and it added an extra layer of joy to the whole stay.
Unmatched customer service, family-friendly facilities, and cozy hotel rooms all in one place? Sheraton JB tops my list.

PPangSaiZuaThere are alot of eateries and restaurants nearby. Small and decent room. The toilet is big with awesome rain shower.
However, the 2nd floor surface area is not even. Walk with caution. The door locking also seems to be outdated using physical key. Otherwise a very decent stay and walking distance to Sutera mall (less than 10min)
