I stayed at Boulcott Suites for three nights and overall had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent — plenty of eateries nearby (many Asian options), a New World supermarket just around the corner, and Cuba Street all within walking distance. For those driving, private parking is available at NZD 29 per night, though it does need to be booked in advance by calling ahead. The room itself was well-equipped, with nearly everything listed on their website provided. Amenities included tea, coffee, hot chocolate, an infusion tea selection, a coffee machine, kettle, washing machine, clothing rack, clean towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and a hair dryer. There’s also a convenient kitchenette with a stove and full set of utilities if you’d like to prepare meals. Do note that some basics like a toothbrush, toothpaste, shower cap, and bottled water aren’t supplied. I just drank the tap water, which seemed perfectly fine. On the downside, I felt the room was a little dusty, which took away slightly from the otherwise good presentation. I had also requested a baby cot during booking and was told it would be included, but it never arrived in the room. It wasn’t a big issue for me personally since the bed was large enough to co-sleep with my baby, but it’s worth mentioning for others who might rely on that service. All in all, Boulcott Suites is a convenient and comfortable choice in the heart of Wellington, with great amenities and an ideal location. With a little more attention to detail on housekeeping and guest requests, it would be close to perfect.

If you are wanting a very no frills basic hotel this is it. Has parking but be warned they are very tight parking spots not good for larger vehicles.  You can hear people taking out in the corridors quite noisy. The white duvet had questionable stains on it 🤢. No hand towel to dry your hands on. The room was not made up while we were there. No tea bag’s etc topped up.  The shower is over a bath and getting out is a deep step down on one leg nothing to hold onto so no good for people with mobility issues or elderly.   I did like that the vanity hand basin was outside of the toilet and shower meaning I could do make up etc without taking the  bathroom up while my husband was in there.  The wood around the hand basin/vanity was warping.  Good location just a walk away to Central CBD.

The hotel is located in the city center, close to Cuba Street, a very convenient location. The staff are all of Indian descent and very friendly. A NZ$100 deposit is required upon check-in, payable in cash or by bank card. Front desk hours are 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM; check-in outside of these hours may be inconvenient. I checked out outside of these hours, and the staff were very considerate, refunding my cash deposit a day in advance, which was a big plus. The room photos differ slightly from the actual room, a bit misleading, and the hotel does not have a communal kitchen. However, the price is affordable, and given its city center location, it offers excellent value for money and is generally very affordable.

The staff were very friendly, welcoming & very efficient. They took the time to go out of their way to make us comfortable. The lift & room was just a little bit older around the edges, but still very good! The bed was heavenly-soft & lovely, we just wish we'd had time to rest & relax more than one night in Wellington!

Stayed one night at James Cook Hotel Grand Chancellor for a conference held onsite. Check-in staff were friendly and efficient. The hotel has three separate lift banks servicing different areas — if you’re unfamiliar with Wellington, definitely ask staff to explain the easiest exit route to the city. It makes a big difference. Breakfast was a very large buffet with plenty of options, though I’ve experienced better quality elsewhere. The hotel itself is older but has solid bones. Perfectly adequate for a work overnight stay. For personal travel I’d probably choose somewhere with more atmosphere, however it felt safe and comfortable. One odd feature: some rooms face an internal terrace/window area — remember to close your curtains as people can see straight in. Bed was clean and well made, the room was tidy, though the carpet is showing its age. The shower had excellent pressure and plenty of hot water — a highlight. Overall: reliable, practical conference accommodation rather than a destination stay.

The room itself was great, and we had a wonderful stay! The front desk staff were very friendly. Plus, they offer free milk – a nice touch! The location is excellent too; it's very close to the highway exit, super near the Old Bank, and also close to the beach. Considering the price and our experience, it was fantastic! There were four of us, and while the room was a bit small, it was perfectly acceptable. And the fact that parking is free for a long time is just amazing!

The location is quite convenient, there are many restaurants around the building, especially many Chinese restaurants. The transportation is also quite convenient, the overall environment is quite clean, and the facilities are quite complete.

Location-wise, it's right by Wellington train station, making it a great choice if you're arriving by train or heading to London. Facilities: They're quite old. The air conditioning was one of those large, vintage units I'd never seen before, and it was incredibly noisy, so I just turned it off. The room had a microwave and cutlery, and surprisingly, a mini-bar – which you usually don't find in hotels at this price point. However, there was a snag: no price list for the mini-bar. While I knew the bottled water in the fridge wouldn't be free, I was still surprised to be charged $7 upon checkout (when a similar bottle is around $2.50 at the supermarket). Service: The downstairs restaurant has long operating hours. I was able to order a delicious burger after a late check-in, and grab a coffee and a pastry to go during an early checkout. Most of my positive impression comes from that restaurant.

The room is actually not as big as the picture, but the sanitation is very good. The front desk is very friendly and always provides the help you need. On the first day, I gave me a map of the city. After 2 days, I measured the seaside streets and piers with my feet. It is even more friendly for passengers taking the Airport Express AX. Under the intersection of Manners Street and Willis Street, walk south on the right hand side of the uphill road. Tea and coffee tubes are enough, and chocolate. I can't drink coffee anymore, I drink chocolate, and the hotel also prepared a large cup for me intimately. Very close to Cuba Street, in fact, not far from where to go. When I left, Beth happened to be off work, went home and drove BYD, took me to the airport, and turned a corner to see the filming place of the Lord of the Rings. Really friendly. If I go to Wellington again, I will definitely choose their home.

Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Bed was very comfortable and room very clean. Felt safe as a woman traveling alone staying here. Would stay again.
