After passing through the gate, wait for staff instructions to board. During busy times, there might be two trains running; if unsure which one to board, feel free to ask. Tickets only indicate the departure time, and even if you pay for a reservation, seat numbers are not assigned—just pick a seat you like. It is highly recommended to make a reservation during peak season. When purchasing tickets, a reservation fee might already be included, so carefully check the details on the website!

After arriving at the final station, Rothorn Kulm, it's mostly about wandering around and taking photos, with no particularly special activities. Once you get off the train, you'll first pass by the hotel and restaurant (Hotel Rothorn Kulm) before reaching the observation deck at the peak, which takes about 25 minutes on foot. If you just want to stroll and take pictures, plan for a stay of about 1.5 to 2.5 hours.

In the morning, take the steam train up the mountain (Brienzer Rothorn). At the summit, there is a restaurant and hiking trails. Plan to stay for three to four hours. There are two options for descending: 1. Take the steam train back down. However, the train runs only once an hour, and you need to book your return time online in advance. After descending, you can take a boat from Brienz Pier back to Interlaken Ost. (This was my itinerary for the day.) 2. Alternatively, there is a cable car at the summit that goes to another town, Sörenberg Schönenboden. The cable car station is located just below the summit restaurant. From the town, you can take a train back to your accommodation. Although the cost is not cheap, the variety of transportation options and the efficiency make it easy to travel between different cities in a short time. The infrastructure is truly well-developed.
