If Harbin is the city of ice, dazzling with lights and bustling with laughter, then Changbai Mountain is the serene realm of snow – where the cold is not noisy but seeps deep into the skin, the breath, and the silence of the earth and sky. At an altitude of over two thousand meters, winter here knows no boundaries, only snow and wind. Winter blankets Changbai Mountain in an absolute white. The pine and birch forests are immersed in silence, with only the sound of the wind passing through the mountain crevices, like the sighs of the North. Heavenly Lake freezes over, its surface reflecting the silvery gray sky, creating a scene both cold and surreal. On the mountain slopes, waterfalls transform into massive icy cascades, sparkling in the faint sunlight, like shattered crystals from winter's crown. Travelers stand amidst the vast sea of snow, their breath turning to mist, feeling their hearts beat in the tranquil space. Changbai Mountain Scenic Area is divided into the North, West, and South Slopes. Tickets must be booked a week in advance through the official mini-program. Pre-sales open daily at 6:00 PM, with additional tickets released at 6:30 PM. Among these, tickets for the South Slope are the hardest to secure because of the strict visitor limits for each time slot. They usually sell out instantly! My travel companion and I tried booking tickets for different time slots, and luckily, we managed to get some. There are no accommodations near the South Slope. We stayed at a hotel on the West Slope and asked the owner to arrange a private car for us. The driver waited for us at the scenic area parking lot while we explored. After entering the scenic area, we took a shuttle bus directly to Tianchi (Heaven Lake). Initially, the lake was shrouded in thick fog, obscuring its beauty. But after waiting a bit, it revealed itself. The blue lake water, paired with the white mist on the mountains, alternated between clear and hazy views. Wow! No phone camera could truly capture its beauty! Every shot looked amazing! On the other side of the viewing platform, there are two large stones surrounded by iron railings, engraved with "Changbai Mountain" and "Tianchi." The line to take photos here was incredibly long, as everyone felt they had to get a picture since they were already there. There were also professional photographers offering paid services. Reluctantly, we took the shuttle bus down to the "Yuehua Twin Waterfalls." The waterfalls were quite small and unimpressive! However, the surrounding butterflies 🦋 stole the show, landing on visitors, their bags, and even their hair, causing bursts of excitement. So adorable! Another attraction was the "Yalu River Grand Canyon," which could only be viewed from above. You could hear the sound of water but couldn’t see the river itself!

Heaven Lake of Changbai Mountain is located within the Changbai Mountain Nature Reserve in southeastern Jilin Province. It is a border lake between China and North Korea, with both sides sharing parts of the water area. The lake stretches about 4,400 meters from north to south and about 3,370 meters from east to west. The lake surface is at an elevation of 2,189.1 meters above sea level, with a maximum depth of 373 meters and an average depth of 204 meters. The water surface area is 9.82 square kilometers, and the perimeter is 13.1 kilometers. Heaven Lake of Changbai Mountain is the best-preserved multi-origin composite volcano from the Cenozoic era in China. It has erupted several times since the Song Dynasty. In the 34th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1908), Liu Jianfeng climbed Baiyun Mountain.
