Chiang Saen Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Golden Triangle Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
The magical Golden Triangle! It's revived!
Originally it was a temporary trip to Chiang Mai, Thailand, but because the journey was too sudden and it was during the holiday, we only booked a hotel in Chiang Mai for one night. And there are too many people in Chiang Mai! We decided to go to the Golden Triangle for a tour on the spur of the moment.
The Golden Triangle, a place that sounds terrifying and makes people shiver, I went there out of curiosity this time. To be honest, I have no idea where the Golden Triangle is, it's a place in the legend. I always feel that it must be full of danger. When I was in the media, I interviewed people who drove there and they told me it was actually a very simple place.
The Golden Triangle, the Mekong River, I believe in many people's inherent impression, it is always a mysterious and controversial place, and very few people have actually been to the Golden Triangle. This time I chose the Chiang Rai line, also to be able to take a look here.
In the prosperous north of Thailand, the Mekong River cruise in the Golden Triangle is a safe and popular tourist project. The parking lot is full of tour buses and business cars, and the streets on both sides of the dock are full of souvenir shops and food stores.
Three Countries At A Glance @ Golden Triangle Park
The Gold Triangle is a tourist spot with a temple right beside it. The site overlooks the Mekong River which borders with Laos and Myanmar, as well as Thailand. It's interesting to see how busy it can be at times. If you're interested in visiting the other countries, simply hop on the boat rental service...be sure to bring your passport.
LOCATION: Golden Triangle Park, Wiang, Chiang Saen District, Chiang Rai 57150, Thailand
Getting there:
We booked a private van which brought us here as well as a few other places.
No entrance free.

Mekong Skywalk Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Incredible Mekong Skywalk
This place just takes my breath away! I guarantee that this is the best observation deck on the Mekong and it is just fantastic. Mekong Skywalk is located 5 kilometers from the town of Chiang Saen near the Nimit Chedi Temple. Otsula is perfectly visible both Thailand and Laos, which lies on the other side of the Mekong River.
Tips for visiting: you can't get here by public transport, so either take a tuk-tuk, or try to rent a bike in Chiang Saen. The cost of visiting the observation room is 40 baht per person.

Golden Triangle Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Golden triangle
The Golden Triangle, where the borders of Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar converge, is a region steeped in allure and history. This area, once notorious for its opium production, has transformed into a fascinating destination for travelers seeking a blend of culture, adventure, and natural beauty. Each country brings its own unique flavor to the triangle, offering a rich tapestry of experiences ranging from serene Mekong River cruises to vibrant hill tribe markets.
Getting to the Golden Triangle is an adventure in itself, with several options available depending on your starting point and preferences:
1. **From Thailand**: Chiang Rai serves as the perfect gateway to the Golden Triangle. You can fly into Chiang Rai from Bangkok and then take a bus or rent a car to cover the short distance to the Golden Triangle. The journey is scenic and well-signposted, making it a hassle-free experience.
2. **From Laos**: Luang Prabang is a good starting point if you're coming from Laos. From here, you can take a slow boat down the Mekong River, a journey that offers breathtaking views and a unique perspective of the region. This route requires some planning, as it takes a couple of days, but it's well worth the effort for the serene beauty and intimate glimpse of river life.
3. **From Myanmar**: If you're starting in Myanmar, the most straightforward route is from Kengtung. You can take a bus or arrange a car to the border, and from there, cross into Thailand. This option might involve more logistics regarding visas and border crossings, so ensure all your paperwork is in order before setting off.
Once in the Golden Triangle, don't miss the opportunity to visit the Hall of Opium Museum for a deep dive into the area's complex history. The viewpoints over the confluence of the Ruak and Mekong rivers offer stunning vistas that are emblematic of the region's natural beauty. Each country's border area offers its unique attractions, from Thailand's bustling markets to Myanmar's tranquil villages and Laos's laid-back river towns.
In summary, the Golden Triangle is a must-visit for those looking to explore the confluence of cultures, histories, and landscapes. Whether arriving by land or river, visitors will find a region transformed, ready to share its stories and beauty with the world.#mytravelhacks #localguides #historicallandmarks #familytrip

Golden Triangle - a unique place to be
Want to be able to see Thailand, Myanmar and Laos all at once? Visit the Golden Triangle. You just need to hire an aircon minivan from Chiangrai and travel about two hours to get to where Ruak River and Mekong River meet forming a triangle. Myanmar will be to your left and Laos to your right. If you wish you can pay to go on a boat ride. Otherwise just enjoy the views, take photographs for remembrance and do some shopping at the several roadside stores lined up. Do bring a hat with you if you will visit during this time as it can get really hot!
