A raincoat is more useful than an umbrella, so buy one at the foot of the mountain before going up. 🍜 After coming down, head to Wenchangli in downtown Fuzhou. Find a rice noodle shop, add a braised egg, and you're set for 10 yuan. Stay near Wenchangli so you can stroll through the old streets at night. 8️⃣ Luoyang | Henan Longmen Grottoes, Guanlin Temple, Laojun Mountain, and Wangcheng Park—3 days is just enough to space them out, so don't try to do too much. ⏰ You must catch the 8:00 AM entry for Longmen; if you're late, it's just people watching people. 📍 After finishing the West Hill Grottoes, cross the bridge to the East Hill. The classic spot to turn back and photograph the Vairocana Buddha is on the East Hill side. ⚠️ Laojun Mountain and Jiguan Cave are in Luanchuan, a 2-hour drive from the city center, so you need to set aside a separate day for them. 🍜 At the Old Town Cross Street next to Wangcheng Park, you can try the "bufan" soup and potstickers, but don't have high expectations—it's just for the atmosphere. It's cool in the morning and evening in Luoyang during the Mid-Autumn Festival, so bringing a long-sleeved shirt is just right. Pick 2 or 3 of these 8 places to visit in a row; it's much more comfortable than crowding into popular cities. I highly recommend Meizhou and Changji—one is slow-paced, and the other is vast. It just depends on what kind of "breathing room" you're looking for.

Anshan | Liaoning Qianshan is the most underrated stop on this trip. In September, the maple leaves are just starting to turn color. The section from Wuliangguan to Tianshangtian has steep stone steps, but the scenery is worth it. ⏰ Enter the mountain at 6:30 AM to avoid tour groups, and head down before noon. Admission ticket is CNY 80 in peak season and CNY 60 in off-season, with half price available for students. 🚄 Take bus No. 8 directly from Anshan Station. Avoid unlicensed taxis. There are vendors selling Nanguo pears at the foot of the mountain for CNY 5 per jin, which is cheaper than inside the scenic area. Stay in Tiedong District and visit Lieshishan Night Market in the evening—don't mind the name, the barbecue and malaban are really cheap. ⚠️ Some sections of Qianshan do not have railings. Wear non-slip shoes. Do not wear sneakers to climb the mountain.
