Hot air balloons are very safe; though the initial ascent is a bit thrilling and scary, you quickly get used to it once you're in the air~ 2️⃣ Cappadocia 🧡 Pasabag, Camel Rock... Cappadocia boasts some of the world's most spectacular weathered landscapes. With towering, steep rock formations shaped like camels, pillars, and cones, it is famous for its "Fairy Chimneys." The perk of joining a group tour is being able to comfortably reach all these must-see spots by tour bus. Since the climate is quite dry and hot, riding a tour bus is a very comfortable choice~ 3️⃣ Taksim Square 💛 Known as the Champs-Élysées of Istanbul ~ Taksim Square, which is also Turkey's Istiklal Avenue, allows you to admire the eclectic mix of Rococo and Baroque architecture on both sides. Weaving through the iconic red vintage trams really gives you a European vibe. Along the street, there are at least hundreds of various Turkish shops, offering everything from trendy European brands to affordable Turkish goods. The famous Turkish bath towels are also souvenirs definitely worth buying~ 4️⃣ Kızılkayalar Taksim 💚 Authentic Turkish shawarma, Islak (wet) burgers, and wraps! Personally, I think the wet burger is quite tasty. The sauce is absolutely delicious, and the price is very affordable, making it totally worth a try. The portions are small, making them perfect as a light snack between meals. 5️⃣ Ancient Roman Underground Cistern 🩵 The Basilica Cistern features huge vaults supported by beautiful, uniquely shaped giant stone pillars. Its magnificent scale makes it look just like an underground palace. It was one of the attractions I wanted to visit the most in Turkey. Purely based on personal preference, I found the lighting down there to be incredibly spectacular and gorgeous. The white lights are especially stunning, while the other colored lights can look a bit spooky~ 6️⃣ Afternoon Tea at The Peninsula Istanbul (5-Star) 💙 A complimentary Peninsula Hotel afternoon tea was included by our travel agency. While enjoying our treats, I noticed that mostly formally dressed locals visit for the hotel's afternoon tea. Although the itinerary was a bit rushed, it was still a lovely experience. Afterward, we hopped directly onto a cruise ship at the hotel's private pier to take in the beautiful coastal scenery of Istanbul. Feeding bread to the seagulls flying alongside the boat made for a perfectly relaxing afternoon. 7️⃣ Migros 💜 Migros (Migros Türk) is one of the largest and most ubiquitous supermarket chains in Turkey. Here, you can stock up on famous Turkish chocolates as souvenirs, and grabbing some ice cream or personal items is also a great idea. Cappadocia is absolutely stunning 🎈 The night before, I was worried the weather wouldn’t be good enough to fly, but at dawn the next day, seeing the sky filled with hot air balloons slowly rising made me feel like my life was complete ✨ 📍Goreme Town This is the main base for hot air balloon experiences. It’s recommended to stay at least two nights to increase your chances of flying. We chose Butterfly Balloons company, and their 5 AM pick-up service was very punctual. Once airborne, you can see the entire surreal landscape of Cappadocia. The pilot thoughtfully rotates the basket to ensure everyone can capture the beautiful scenery. 📍Uchisar Castle After landing the hot air balloon, you can visit this high vantage point. Not only can you overlook all of Goreme, but you can also see the full view of Rose Valley. The castle itself is a cave fortress carved into the rock, perfect for taking Instagram-worthy photos. 📍Devrent Valley Also known as Camel Valley, the rock formations here are incredibly unique! At sunset, the light is very gentle, and the rock pillars turn pink. Many couples choose this spot for proposals. 💡Useful Tips: 1. Book the hot air balloon at least 3 days in advance! We almost missed out. 2. It’s very cold at dawn, so bring a thick jacket but don’t dress too bulky. 3. The first flight at sunrise is the most beautiful, but the second flight is about 1/3 cheaper. 4. There is a champagne celebration after landing, so remember to keep some cash for tips. 🏨 Accommodation Recommendation: The Museum Hotel is absolutely amazing! The cave pool faces the hot air balloon launch site. While having breakfast on the terrace, hundreds of hot air balloons floated right overhead—this experience is truly unforgettable. 🍴 Must-Try Food: You must try the pot-cooked beef! The stew at Topdeck Cave Restaurant is incredible. Remember to reserve a window seat in advance.

The most famous thing about the Cappadocia area is the caves. Whether it is a museum, a restaurant or a hotel, they all have views of the caves. I prefer modern hotels, but the cave hotels do not give me a good sense of security. DoubleTree by Hilton Avanos is the fourth Hilton hotel we stayed in during our trip to Turkey. In addition to the comfortable and clean environment, it also has my favorite swimming pool. Although it is not as convenient as the previous hotels in the city center, the scenery next to the hotel is really refreshing. Also, the hotel is close to the hot air balloon flight site tomorrow, so you have to go to bed early at night because you have to get up at around 3 a.m. to prepare for the hot air balloon flight.

From the itinerary, I saw that in addition to dinner, we can also enjoy local Turkish dance performances, the most anticipated of which is the whirling. Save this route for an independent Cappadocia trip. Staying one night in Çavuşin made Cinnes Vadisi, Paşabağı and Zelve easier to combine, while two nights in Göreme worked well for the balloon flight, open-air museum, ATV tour and underground cities. 📍 DAY 1: ÇAVUŞIN, AVANOS & ROSE VALLEY After the night bus, I left my luggage at Artonin Cappadocia and walked through Cinnes Vadisi. Then I visited Avanos for its riverside promenade, old streets and a pottery-wheel workshop. After checking in, I explored Old Çavuşin and Çavuşin Castle, walked through part of Rose Valley and climbed to a viewpoint for sunset. 🎈 DAY 2: BALLOONS, PAŞABAĞ, ZELVE & ATV I watched the balloons at sunrise from Çavuşin. After breakfast, I visited Paşabağı and Zelve Open Air Museum, then moved to Göreme and checked into Premium Cappadocia. In the evening, I joined a two-hour ATV tour through Love Valley to a sunset viewpoint. The bathtub in my room was especially welcome after the dusty ride. 🌄 DAY 3: BALLOON FLIGHT, MUSEUM & TERRACES My birthday began with a hot-air-balloon flight.
