Norway 🇳🇴 Attractions-Salt Stream The night before, I caught the last boat from Lofoten Islands. We arrived at Bodo, Norway at 2-3 am. Just find a fjord with mountains and sea and sleep for a night. The next day, we went to a wonderland about 40 minutes south of Hakata. There are many fjords here. Forming one continuous whirlpool after another🌀 My dad has always been amazed and puzzled Where does this water flow from the sea? How can it flow like a bottomless pit without any waves? That’s the secret of travel. We are always exploring the wonders of nature. And lack of wisdom Norway 🇳🇴 Attractions - Saltstraumen Caught the last boat from Lofoten Islands the night before Arrived in Bodø, Norway mainland at 2-3am Just find a fjord with mountains and seas and simply sleep for one night A wonder about 40 minutes south of Bodø the next day There are many fjords converging here Formed one after another uninterrupted maelstrom🌀 My dad has always been amazed Where does this water flow from the sea? Booked a car rental on Trip.com for a Volvo V90 — the process was smooth and the overall experience met my expectations. Both pick-up and drop-off locations had staff who were exceptionally friendly and helpful, which made the journey pleasant right from the start. 😊 During the trip, we encountered a minor accident. Thankfully, the claim process with rentcover was very convenient and hassle-free, which was a great relief. If you’re considering renting a car through Trip.com, I’d recommend being familiar with their insurance process in advance for added peace of mind. Overall, it was a positive and reassuring experience. Trip.com’s seamless booking and supportive staff made everything easier, from beginning to end!

🌊 Bodø, Norway | Saltstraumen Maelstrom: Experience the power of nature up close! You can't miss this magical place when visiting Bodø, Norway! Located about 33 km from the city center, it features one of the strongest tidal currents in the world. As the tide rises and falls, seawater rushes into the narrow strait, creating stunning, swirling whirlpools 🌀 I booked a small group day tour this time. It lasted 2 hours and cost NOK 1,200/person. It was packed with activities 👇 🌀 Got an up-close look at the Saltstraumen maelstrom—it was truly breathtaking in person! The water churns so intensely, it feels like you're about to be sucked right in 😱 🦅 So lucky to see sea eagles! We even got to experience feeding them. Watching these birds of prey hunt up close was absolutely incredible! 🐟 Visited a salmon farm and learned so much~ 🪨 Admired the unique, ancient rock formations and felt the traces of hundreds of millions of years of geological change. It felt like something out of a sci-fi movie. ❄️ The biggest surprise of all was catching the first snow of my trip to Norway!! 🌉 Standing on the bridge looking down, the water churns beneath you. In the daylight, it sparkles, creating a stark contrast with the whirlpools—truly a masterpiece of nature! Seawater, whirlpools, sea eagles, salmon, ancient rocks, and the first snow falling from the sky ❄️ Those short 2 hours felt like a condensed tour of Norway's nature~ Sometimes the joy of travel isn't about how far you go, but about encountering the sea, mountains, rocks, wildlife, and the first snow all at once in a strange new place ✨ 🇳🇴 Saltstraumen is definitely worth a special trip!

I intentionally saved the last stop of my Norway trip for Bodø ✨ No rushing, sleeping in, and taking slow walks along the streets 🚶‍♀️ The sea breeze carries a northern chill, and the sky gets dark early 🌆 The long polar night makes the whole city feel exceptionally quiet 🤫 Visiting the cathedral, concert hall, and library, Finding a local cafe to have a hot coffee ☕️ And eating a piece of freshly baked bread 🥐 As a rare Asian face on the street, I occasionally receive smiles and greetings from strangers 😊 It's simple, but it adds a little warmth to this northern town 💛 By the end of the trip, I find I don't want to chase after scenery anymore 🏔️ Just feeling the sea breeze, watching the twilight, and walking quietly for a while 🌊 The beauty of Bodø is probably just this— The cold air, the quiet streets, And the tenderness hidden in the polar night 🌃 Perhaps the meaning of travel is never about how many attractions you check off, But learning to find your own rhythm in an unfamiliar city ✨

Four connecting flights to Lofoten! Phuket-Helsinki: We flew from Phuket Airport to Helsinki Airport and then waited for our connecting flight to Oslo. Helsinki-Oslo: Upon arrival at Oslo Airport, we stayed at the Scandic hotel near the airport, using the airport shuttle bus to get there in the morning for our flight to Bodø. Oslo-Bodo: We had a layover at Bodø Airport for about an hour. Bodo-Leknes: At Bodø Airport, we switched to a propeller plane to fly to Leknes. We had to hope the weather would allow us to fly or that we'd have to drive instead. You can choose your seat on the plane, and the flight attendants hand out chocolates or candy to help with motion sickness. We've arrived!! The airport is very small, and the rental car counter is near the baggage claim area. We picked up our rental car and drove to the Lofoten villages. /Lofoten #lofoten #norway #northernlights

When it comes to breathtaking winter dream destinations, the Lofoten Islands in Norway are undoubtedly at the top of the list. A standout highlight is "Eliassen Rorbuer" in Hamnøy—one of the oldest and most photographed traditional fishing villages in the archipelago. The sight of vibrant red wooden cabins (Rorbu) nestled along the fjord, set against a backdrop of towering, snow-draped granite peaks, is truly mesmerizing and worth every mile traveled. **Must-Visit Checkpoints & Photo Spots:** 1. **Panoramic View of Hamnøy (Photo 1):** Looking down from the bridge or via a drone, you’ll see the clusters of red cabins lining the coast, surrounded by deep blue waters and majestic snow-capped mountains. 2. **The Fjord Pier (Photos 2 & 3):** The wooden walkway running parallel to the cabins is perfect for a brisk winter stroll. As thin layers of ice begin to form on the fjord, the soft winter sun reflects off the surface, creating an incredibly romantic atmosphere. 3. **A Classic Stay:** These iconic red houses have been beautifully renovated into cozy cabins with modern amenities. There’s nothing like opening your door to nature’s grandeur and waiting for the Northern Lights to dance across the night sky. 💡 **Travel Tips & Information:** · **Best Time to Visit:** To catch the stunning contrast of white snow against red houses, plan your trip between January and March. This period offers heavy snowfall and the best chances to witness the Aurora Borealis. · **Getting There:** You can fly into Bodø and take a ferry to Moskenes, or fly directly to Leknes Airport (LKN) in Lofoten and rent a car. Driving to Hamnøy is by far the most convenient and flexible way to explore the islands. · **Pro Tip:** Winter here is humid with strong coastal winds. Dress in layers and wear waterproof, non-slip snow boots to stay warm and safe while capturing your shots. This place is stunning from every angle and offers a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. For photographers and winter nature lovers, this is an absolute must! 📸

I'm speechless!! When I stepped onto this deep blue ice field carved by fierce winds, looking down at the deep glacial crevasses that looked like liquid sapphires, with only the crisp echo of cracking ice in my ears—at that moment I understood that "Moskenes" is never just a coordinate on a map of Norway, but the ultimate contest between ancient glaciers and polar storms, the ultimate dialogue between human insignificance and the primordial universe. Here, there is no worldly noise, and even breathing carries the chill of millions of years and the purity of an "alien world." The stories hidden in the broken ice and aurora are more vivid than any filter and more touching than any guide. Deep Blue Crevasses: God's favorite "liquid amber." As "Moskenes' most stunning visual landmark," this glacier, formed by layers of millennia-old compacted snow, is breathtakingly beautiful. When sunlight pierces the thick ice, the air bubbles sealed by time shimmer against the deep blue background, like a giant liquid sapphire. As you carefully walk along the ice walls, looking at those bottomless crevasses, you will feel like you have "stumbled into an alien secret realm from Interstellar," with your heartbeat synchronized to the ticking sound of melting glaciers. Every photo is a perfect fusion of "surrealism and awe." Polar Storms: "Ultimate wildness" warmed by time. As "Moskenes' most extreme soul," this ice field ravaged by fierce winds is as beautiful as "a dream you never want to wake up from." The wind is the only ruler here, using millions of years to carve the glacier into sharp blades and deep ravines. As you wrap your windbreaker tight and trudge through the snow, you will feel like you are "standing on the edge of time," breathing carefully for fear of disturbing this silence that has spanned ten thousand years. Aurora Frames: "Ultimate romance" warmed by the starry sky. As "Moskenes' most healing cultural footnote," the glacier on a winter night is as beautiful as "an unfinished poem." When night falls, green auroras dance like ribbons above the ice field, reflecting on the deep blue ice surface. You will feel like you have "understood the romance of the Arctic," and your understanding of this land becomes profound: the most extreme romance is the ability to still refract brilliant light after experiencing extreme cold. Tipsy on the Ice Field: "Ultimate relaxation" warmed by solitude. As "Moskenes' most photogenic romantic moment," sitting on the ground in a sheltered spot at the edge of the glacier is as beautiful as "a flowing visual feast." Pour a cup of hot coffee from your thermos, look at the distant snow-capped mountains and the blue ice beneath your feet, and listen to the wind whistling through the glacial crevasses. You will feel like you "possess the tenderness of the entire universe," and even time slows down, as if in the next second you could embrace this unique tipsiness together with this alien ice field. Tour Routes: Classic Route (Glacier Hiking): Moskenes Glacier Park meeting point → Put on crampons and helmets → Traverse glacial crevasses with a professional guide → Summit to overlook the panoramic view of the ice field (9:00 AM–3:00 PM, photograph deep blue ice walls and crevasses). In-depth Route (Aurora and Ice Caves): Head to the edge of the glacier in the evening → Explore natural blue ice caves → Wait for the aurora to erupt on the ice field at night (4:00 PM–10:00 PM, experience the aurora and the tipsy feeling). Equipment: Canon R6 with wide-angle/telephoto lens + ND filter (for glacier details and long-exposure aurora shots) + waterproof phone case (for first-person ice cave shots). BGM: Epic Nordic symphonies or the Interstellar soundtrack (fits the surrealism and grandeur of Moskenes). Tips: Best time: Summer (May–September) is suitable for glacier hiking, as glacial crevasses are relatively safe; winter (November–March) is the golden season for exploring blue ice caves and watching the aurora, but you must deal with extreme cold and blizzards. Transportation: Take a ferry from Bodø, Norway, to Moskenes Island, then transfer to a local bus or drive to the glacier park; road conditions are complex in winter, so it is strongly recommended to rent a 4x4 vehicle or join a local tour group. Clothing recommendations: Must wear windproof and waterproof jackets, thermal underwear, and non-slip hiking boots (the ice surface is extremely slippery); wearing bright-colored clothing is extremely photogenic against the deep blue background. Safety details: Glacier hiking must be done with a professional guide; do not enter the crevasse area alone; the ice layer may collapse at any time, so be sure to follow the guide's instructions; wear a helmet when exploring ice caves in winter and be careful of falling ice. Pitfall avoidance: Glacier hiking must be booked in advance, as spots are limited during peak season; the wind on the ice field is very strong, so be sure to wear a hat and gloves; pay attention to keeping your camera battery warm when shooting the aurora, and keep spare batteries close to your body. Extended experience: Order a hot soup and cinnamon roll at the glacier park cafe to recharge quickly; if time permits, you can head to the nearby Svalbard archipelago to experience more extreme polar glaciers and polar bear tracks.

Red rorbuer (fisherman’s cabins), seaside wooden structures, boathouses, fish-oil factories, vintage shops, the post office, the forge, and traditional residences all mirror the past life of Lofoten's fishing community. If you think the northern lights in Tromsø aren’t impressive enough, the Lofoten Islands will change your perception of the Arctic Circle. In 2026, it was named one of Expedia’s top 10 islands worldwide and is known as one of Europe’s most pristine and peaceful destinations. The islands are in northern Norway, inside the Arctic Circle, where a row of jagged peaks rises from the sea, called the sea Alps. There are no crowded tourists, only red fishing villages, snowy fjords, and the midnight sun. 🏔️ Reine: the world’s most beautiful village Reine is the heart of the islands. Red wooden houses scatter at the foot of the mountains, with steep peaks behind and emerald waters in front. It’s rated as one of the world’s most beautiful villages. Climb to the top of Reinebringen at sunrise to overlook the entire village and fjord. The sunlight on the red roofs is unreal in its beauty. 🌊 Å: fishing village at the world’s end A small fishing village at the end of the road, one of the shortest village names, just the letter “Å.” This is the end of the E10 highway and the edge of the islands. The village keeps the tradition of drying fish. In spring, rows of cod heads hang on wooden racks, more authentic than any influencer filter. 🦅 eagle watching and midnight sun From May to July, the sun never sets. You can go out at midnight to watch eagles, kayak through fjords, or hike under the midnight sun. Take a RIB speedboat out to sea, where white-tailed sea eagles spread their wings over 2 meters wide, flying right overhead. The midnight sun turns their feathers golden. 🏡 stay in a fishing village cabin Stay in a Rorbu (traditional fisherman's cabin) by the water. Open the window to snowy fjords, with only the sound of water and birds. There’s no nightlife, just cabins, a stove, and the view outside. Many cabins have saunas—after steaming, jump straight into the icy sea. This experience is unforgettable. 📌 practical information · Transportation: fly to Bodø, then take a ferry or small plane to the islands, or fly to Evenes (EVE) airport and rent a car · Visa: Norway Schengen visa · Best season: May–July (midnight sun, mild weather), August–September (autumn colors + early northern lights) · Suggested itinerary: 5 days recommended. Fly from Oslo to Bodø, stay 1–2 nights each in Reine, Å, and Svolvær · Notes: Weather inside the Arctic Circle is changeable; windproof and waterproof jackets are essential. Bring cash as some small villages don’t accept cards. When driving, watch for narrow mountain roads and yield in advance when passing other vehicles. 💡 final honest words The beauty of Lofoten is understated—it doesn’t flood social media but quietly waits inside the Arctic Circle for those who appreciate it. Standing atop Reinebringen looking down, the row of red fishing villages surrounded by snowy mountains and sea makes you realize—some places are worth a long flight and a long drive just to see once.

Most travelers head to Northern Europe just to see the northern lights, missing out on the Lofoten Islands, a mountain and sea utopia tucked inside the Arctic Circle. The E10 coastal road connects scattered fishing villages, sharp granite peaks, and emerald fjords. Colorful stilted wooden houses stand by the water, and the sea breeze carries the salty freshness of cod, filling the unique Nordic tranquility and healing atmosphere. You can follow this complete route for an independent trip. The entire archipelago is formed from volcanic rock layers, with steep peaks plunging into the sea. The clear water shifts through shades of light green and deep blue depending on the light. The most famous fishing village, Hamnøy, is a must-visit landmark. Rows of red traditional Rorbu fishing cabins stand on the rocks above the water, with grass-roofed wooden houses scattered nearby, backed by massive cliffs. Standing anywhere on the wooden boardwalk, you can capture photos without tourists in the frame. Not far away, the bright yellow wooden houses are a lesser-known photo spot. The solid-colored houses paired with the rugged mountains create a striking contrast, making it a favorite cover photo for many travel bloggers. Driving along the E10 ring road offers unfiltered sea views all the way. The fjord water beyond the guardrails is crystal clear and bright. Fishing boats fill the distant docks, and colorful small houses nestle at the mountain bases. There are no crowds, and you can stop anytime to enjoy the view. For panoramic views, be sure to hike to the Reinebringen viewpoint. From the summit, the entire Reine fjord is in full view: a circular harbor, fishing villages, and rolling mountains spread over the sea. The aerial perspective of the islands is even more breathtaking, with rocky breakwaters surrounding the fishing port and the deep and shallow blue sea revealing the vastness unique to Northern Europe. The fishing villages preserve a centuries-old fishing culture. Dried cod is a local specialty. Restaurants and creative spaces use whole strings of dried fish as decorative lamps, giving a direct sense of the coastal lifestyle here. The local fish market offers the freshest Arctic seafood, including plump smoked salmon, sweet Arctic shrimp, and distinctive black pepper fish fillets. Paired with locally made creamy dipping sauces, you don’t need trendy restaurants to enjoy authentic Arctic seafood—affordable markets serve it all. ✨Complete tested travel tips 1. Best travel season From June to August, the summer days are very long, perfect for driving around the island and hiking, with clear water for great photos. From September to March, it’s northern lights season, offering the stunning sight of auroras over the fjords. The scenery is completely different in these two seasons. 2. Transportation There is no public transportation on the islands. Driving is the only recommended way. Take a ferry from Bodø to the islands. The E10 road runs through the entire archipelago with smooth pavement, accessible by regular cars. Attractions are spread out, so buses can’t connect all the spots. 3. Accommodation options Highly recommended are the stilted Rorbu fishing cabins by the water, where opening the window means a fjord view and full atmosphere. For budget travelers, affordable guesthouses in small towns are well equipped. Summer accommodations are tight, so book 1–2 months in advance. 4. Must-visit photo spots ① Hamnøy red wooden boardwalk (great all day, soft morning light) ② Yellow wooden houses in front of the mountain (few people, ideal for solo atmospheric photos) ③ Reinebringen summit viewpoint (about 1.5 hours round-trip hike, wear non-slip hiking shoes) ④ E10 coastal road parking spots (drive and shoot at will) ⑤ Fish market seafood area and dried cod creative installations (cultural highlights) 5. Food and budget guide Local must-tries: smoked salmon, Arctic sweet shrimp, cod dishes. The fish market offers better value than scenic restaurants, which tend to be overpriced. For budget travelers, prioritize market snacks. The local creamy pepper sauce pairs uniquely with seafood and is worth trying. 6. Practical tips to avoid pitfalls ① The mountain sea wind is strong year-round. Bring a windbreaker regardless of weather. Hiking trails have many loose stones, so avoid sandals or canvas shoes. ② There is no complete darkness in summer; bring a sleep mask for rest. Northern lights season nights are very cold; a thick down jacket is essential. ③ Fishing village paths can be slippery. Watch your step on rocks near the water when taking photos. Safety first. ④ Island shops have short hours and close early in the evening. Stock up on drinking water and snacks in advance. 7. Suggested trip length A quick 2-day visit covers the core villages of Reine and Hamnøy. For a deeper, slower experience, allow 4–5 days to explore by sections, hike, enjoy the sea, and visit the fish market without rushing. Unique off-the-beaten-path experience Unlike city stops in Oslo or Bergen, Lofoten focuses on pristine mountain and sea fishing villages without over-commercialized shops. You can immerse yourself in Nordic fishing history and enjoy driving alone through empty fjords. It’s perfect for travelers who love quiet natural scenery and dislike crowded attractions. Ideal for couples, solo hikers, and family slow travel. Do you prefer summer days driving around Northern Europe or winter northern lights hunting? Share your travel plans in the comments~

With Germany's third consecutive World Cup exit in the Round of 32, I joked that my World Cup was over again this year, but I still habitually checked the scores every morning. Norway 2-1 Brazil – somewhat expected, yet still a little surprising. It reminded me of that "world's most beautiful football stadium," hidden in the Arctic Circle, where there are no deafening cheers. After nightfall, only the sound of waves crashing against the rocks remains, the majestic snow-capped mountains seemingly its only audience. The stadium is built at the end of an island, facing the endless Atlantic Ocean. It's located in the Lofoten Islands, the northernmost part of Norway, all within the Arctic Circle. Summer here boasts over 40 days of continuous midnight sun, offering a romantic spectacle of the sun never setting ☀️. While winter doesn't have the strict polar night, the few hours of shimmering blue aurora borealis provide a stunning opportunity to witness the aurora borealis 💚🌌 📍Personally, I think the essence of Lofoten is concentrated between Svolville and Aden. 🚗Getting There ✈️By Plane · SVJ/LKN Airport: Primarily only flights depart from Bodo · EVE Airport: Highly recommended for those driving! Direct flights are a significant advantage (many daily flights to and from Oslo), and car rentals are cheaper, making it the choice for most tourists. ⛴️Ferry Not exactly cheap, only suitable for a small group of travelers. Routes include Bodo, Tromsø, etc. 🚙Important Note: For exploring Lofoten, I don't recommend public transportation other than driving. 🍂Season Selection Compared to summer with its midnight sun, I personally recommend visiting in winter. Many snow-capped mountains, combined with the sea, create an excellent backdrop for aurora photography! 💡Tips: If you plan to visit the main islands of Norway, I recommend doing so first, then Lofoten. Otherwise, you might find the main islands quite boring.

📍 Place: Bodo, Norway ✨ What it felt like: I loved how easy it was to combine city comforts with incredible natural scenery. The waterfront, nearby viewpoints, and ferry connections gave every walk a sense of adventure, whether I was keeping costs low or treating myself to a special experience. 👀 What stood out: Bodo is surprisingly walkable, making it easy to explore the harbor, cafés, and scenic viewpoints on foot. Budget travelers can enjoy bakeries, local buses, and beautiful coastal walks, while mid-range and luxury options open up ferry trips, museums, RIB adventures, sea-view hotels, and unforgettable Arctic dining. As the gateway to the Lofoten Islands, Bodo is also a great base for exploring Northern Norway. 💡 Exclusive tip: If you're planning to visit nearby attractions like Saltstraumen or take local ferries, buy a day pass for public transport. It saves money and gives you the flexibility to explore without worrying about individual ticket costs. ❤️ Personal feeling: Bodo felt like the kind of place where I'd happily spend extra time with my family, watching the changing light over the water and simply enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Sometimes the best travel memories come from quiet moments by the sea. #Bodo #Norway #VisitNorway #NorthernNorway #ArcticTravel #BudgetTravel #LuxuryTravel #Scandinavia #TripMoments #SlowTravel #travel2026#travel#couplestrip#thingstodo#familytravel

Summer Norway

📍 Place: Bodø ✨ What it felt like: I spent most of my time walking along the waterfront and simply watching the weather shift over the ocean. The air felt fresh and cold, but in a peaceful way that made me want to stay outside longer. 👀 What stood out: The scenery around Bodø felt dramatic without needing long travel distances. One moment I was near cafés and small streets, and the next there were wide sea views and mountains in every direction. I also loved how soft the evening light became, especially during longer northern sunsets. Everything felt very quiet compared to larger cities. 💡 Exclusive tip: If the forecast looks clear, stay outside later than you normally would. The late evening light near the water creates beautiful colors for photos, and many viewpoints become much quieter after dinner hours. ❤️ Personal feeling: Bodø felt like the kind of place where simple moments become memorable — slow walks, cold sea air, and peaceful evenings watching the light change with family nearby. #Bodø #Norway #NordicTravel #ArcticViews #SlowTravel #ScandinavianNature #TripMoments #travel2026#travel#couplestrip#thingstodo

Purano Thimi is where all the hype begins — it's the ultimate meeting spot, setting the mood for this legendary festival. Bhairav’s epic chariot is decked out at Balkumari (Balkumari Temple, Purano Thimi; open sunrise-sunset!), and then it’s rolled over to Layeku Square, where the real action’s waiting. The locals? All ready and amped, clutching bajras filled with vibrant sindoor powder. When Ganesh’s squad arrives from Bode, Thimi residents lead the very first, super-official burst of sindoor to bless both Bhairav and Ganesh. And get this: Bode might go for a chaotic running charge, but Purano Thimi’s vibe is next-level. It’s a full-on, dense mashup — all 32 toles (neighborhoods) packed soooo tight into Layeku Square and every side street, launching clouds of orange powder until the sky legit disappears. Talk about a view! 🤯 After Bhairav and Ganesh "meet" in a whirl of color, both chariots parade through the heart of Purano Thimi’s ancient alleys, spreading those festive feels everywhere. Once the rounds are done, Bhairav’s chariot finally heads back, and you realize — for the people of Thimi, Sindoor Jatra isn’t just an epic color battle. It’s their yearly tradition to seal their bond with Bode and show their respect to the beloved gods.
