A dreamy village and ski resort that is perfect for both winter skiing and summer hiking! After strolling through traditional Japanese alleys and soaking in the most authentic hot springs, head straight to the Nozawa Onsen Ski Resort to try the "Summer Slope." Gliding down the mountain with the breeze is super thrilling! Open from July 18 to August 31, 9 AM to 4 PM.
📍Address: 7653 Toyosato, Nozawaonsen, Shimotakai District, Nagano 389-2502, Japan
Every street in the hot spring village is a scenic spot. After eating some dango and enjoying a soak, explore the Onsen Shrine. Walking along the quaint streets is so relaxing~ It's recommended to arrive early. On your way back, try some Japanese snacks at the famous "Yuzawaya" or sit at a street cafe to watch the world go by.
Second Stop: Buchs SG, Switzerland — Werdenbergersee
The biggest highlight of the small town of Buchs SG is its "one river, two countries" feature: just across the river is 👑Liechtenstein! Take a slow stroll along the lakeside of Werdenbergersee. The summer lake reflecting the mountains and wooden cabins is incredibly healing!
Climb up to the medieval Schloss Werdenberg🏰 to overlook the entire lake and village—it's super photogenic~ We suggest heading up around dusk. The golden backlighting on the mountains and lake is so beautiful you won't even need Photoshop.

Swans🦢 can often be seen swimming leisurely by the lake. There's no need to rush your itinerary; grab a cup of coffee, sit down, and enjoy a moment of tranquility. The town has a wonderful atmosphere—it might not have huge, crowded attractions, but it's exactly what you need for slow travel.
