One of the trips that I really enjoyed, especially because we could fly direct from Singapore to Broome with Jetstar. Sadly this direct flight dont have anymore. Broome is so different from other places. The red earth, blue sea, clear sky and those beautiful rock formations at Gantheaume Point. The colours were really amazing in real life, photos dont really show how pretty it was. There are no buildings taller than the palm trees....THIS SO SO Amazing I can see lots of skyyy (coming frm singapore everywhere are skyscrapers) We also visited Streeter’s Jetty and learnt about Broome’s pearling history, and walked around Town Beach in the evening. August was a really good time to visit, weather was sunny but not too crazy hot. Very relaxing trip and definitely one of those places I’m glad we went. ❤️ Singapore → Broome direct | August 2024 Now this route no longer available, so I’m quite happy we got to experience it when we did. Yes, I will visit it again.

Whenever I plan a trip, I find myself thinking less about how many famous places I can squeeze into the itinerary and more about whether there’s somewhere I can genuinely slow down. I enjoy those trips where you wake up early and spend the whole day exploring. But every now and then, I want something completely different. I want to step outside and see the ocean, spend an afternoon with absolutely nothing planned, then grab a drink and wait for the sun to go down. Sometimes, that’s exactly the kind of trip we need. There are countless beautiful beaches around the world, but if I had to choose three where the sunset alone makes me want to go, these would be my picks. 🌅 1. Cable Beach 📍 Broome, Western Australia 🇦🇺 Facing the Indian Ocean, Cable Beach is known for its seemingly endless stretch of sand and huge open skies. As evening approaches, warm golden light spreads across the beach while the sun slowly drops toward the ocean. Add the famous silhouettes of Broome’s camels crossing the sand at sunset, and you get a scene that feels completely different from the usual tropical beach view. 🌊 2. Santa Monica Beach 📍 California, USA 🇺🇸 Sunset at Santa Monica has a completely different energy. As the sun sinks over the Pacific, the Santa Monica Pier turns into a silhouette against the evening sky while the beach around it is still full of California life. It’s that mix of ocean calm and city energy that makes watching the sunset here so memorable. 🌴 3. Flic en Flac Beach 📍 Mauritius 🇲🇺 On the west coast of Mauritius, Flic en Flac has a long sandy shoreline, clear turquoise water and that relaxed tropical atmosphere people come to the island for. During the day, the Indian Ocean is beautifully blue. By evening, everything changes as golden and pink light begins to spread across the water. With its west-facing location, this is one of those beaches where you’ll want to stay until the very last light disappears. All three have something special. But if you ask me which one I’d choose for myself, and which one I want to tell you a little more about, it would be Flic en Flac Beach in Mauritius. 🇲🇺 Mauritius looks beautiful even through a screen, but it isn’t only the colour of the ocean that draws me to Flic en Flac. It’s the kind of beach holiday I want to have there. Wake up without rushing. Explore the island if I feel like it. Spend the afternoon by the beach if I don’t. Then, when evening comes, find a comfortable spot and watch the sun disappear over the Indian Ocean. And the next evening? I’d probably want to do exactly the same thing again. If I were travelling all the way to Flic en Flac, I wouldn’t want to arrive just before sunset, take a few photos and leave. I’d rather stay by the coast for a few days and let the beach become part of the trip. For that kind of Mauritius escape, La Pirogue Mauritius would be my pick. 🏨🌴 Set along the Wolmar coastline, the resort has thatched-roof bungalows surrounded by tropical gardens, which suits the island beautifully. Rather than feeling like you’re staying inside one huge hotel building, there’s a sense of having your own little space to slow down and enjoy Mauritius. And that’s what I like most about choosing the right place to stay. A hotel shouldn’t only be somewhere you sleep. It can become part of the journey itself. Spend the day exploring Mauritius and come back in the afternoon. When sunset gets close, there’s no need to turn it into another sightseeing mission. Just head towards the beach, feel the breeze coming off the Indian Ocean and watch the sun slowly disappear beyond the horizon. Then have dinner. Tomorrow’s plans can wait until tomorrow. For me, a great beach holiday isn’t measured by how many places I manage to fit into an itinerary. Sometimes, all it takes is a resort you genuinely enjoy staying at, a beautiful ocean in front of you, and an evening so good that you don’t feel like going anywhere else. I’d go to Cable Beach for the sunset. I’d go to Santa Monica for a California evening by the Pacific. But Mauritius? I arrived in the late afternoon and walked across the huge stretch of sand while the sun slowly began lowering toward the Indian Ocean. The golden light reflected beautifully across the water, and the warm Broome air made the whole experience feel wonderfully tropical. I stayed after sunset to watch the sky fade into deep blue.
