I saw a beautiful review of a Spanish-style town in Clark, Philippines, from an online influencer, and the flight to the Philippines was very cheap (only a little over 6,000 NTD on EVA Air), so I flew there. Turns out it was a complete scam. I expected the hotel to be old and run-down, but I didn't expect it to be so dirty and chaotic, with huge cockroaches. I was so scared from having to get up to pee in the middle of the night that I couldn't sleep all night. Then, the blankets and pillows were damp and had a musty smell. We asked the staff to change them twice, but it was still the same… Bringing outside food is prohibited in the park, and they even confiscated the alcohol we bought at the airport (thankfully it was returned the next day). However, the restaurants inside the park are incredibly slow to serve food. We ordered both alcohol and food; at least bring the liquor first! We waited 30 minutes before they told us they didn't have the liquor we ordered, and then another 30 minutes… We waited a whole hour to eat and drink! It was infuriating; hungry people are easily angered 😤 Next, the more bizarre part: one of our friends, who has never sleepwalked before, actually did! The beach was just a 10-minute walk from our room—I really don't want to think about the consequences… The whole park feels like some abandoned, low-end museum; it has absolutely no Spanish feel. The location is ideal for nature lovers, nestled deep within the Great Otway National Park and surrounded by towering mountain ash trees and giant ferns. Having the parking area right at the start of the trail made the logistics seamless, especially for a quick transition back to the car after the hike. To make the trip even better, we stayed at the Forrest Caravan Park, which was perfectly located for exploring the area.
