But once we got to the top, we realized the snow and wind were incredibly strong, haha! We were probably the group that stayed the longest there! 🚡 Untersberg Cable Car Highlights · Free with the Salzburg Card (one of the best value redemption options!) (The cable car itself costs more than the card!) · Approximately 20-30 minutes by bus from the city center to the cable car station. · The cable car goes directly to the summit of Untersberg, at an altitude of 1,776 m. · In winter, the summit often offers a magical experience of "no snow in the city → a snow-covered mountaintop." · On a clear day, you can see the German-Austrian border mountains – absolutely spectacular! 🌨️ Things to Note in Winter · Extremely strong winds on the mountain! Even though Salzburg is beautiful in the summer, nowhere feels more festive than being in the snow in the mountains of Salzburg in the winter! We wrapped up warmly in so many layers and went out to explore. Recommendations: Spend a day walking around the old town, visiting the sites such as Mozart’s Birthplace, Mirabell Palace, Salzburg Cathedral, St Peter’s Abbey and Mozartplatz Square. We found Christmas markets covering the square, an ice rink, and some free exhibitions. #2024wish It was winter when I was in Salzburg Austria. One of the most memorable moments from this trip was the time spent in top of Untersberg. My wife held my hand while we walked slowly in the thick snow on top of the mountain. We didn't walk too far as the visibility was low. However, we took some great photos. In 2024, I hope to visit Mount Fuji in Tokyo Japan as it has been my dream for so many years. I hope to enjoy the snow there too.

When we were travelling in Salzburg, we got the Salzburg card which entitled us to visit a lot of places for free. Untersberg was one of such places. Untersberg is a mountain in Salzburg. I always love to view snowy mountains. Thus, I was thrilled that Untersberg was one of the places covered by the Salzburg card. We took the cable up to the peak and took a small walk over there. The weather was not so good and thus we did not have a good view of the surroundings. However, it was fun walking around in the snow on the mountain.
