Hellerup travel guide and discussion

Just finished my 3-day trip to Copenhagen, and honestly, this city surprised me! 🇩🇰✨ 🏰 Must-visit: Rosenborg Castle 👑 — It may not be the biggest castle, but the Crown Jewels and Royal Regalia inside are seriously impressive! 🚤 Best relaxing experience: Canal Tour — Sit back, enjoy the views and listen to the guide share stories about the city. Such an easy way to explore Copenhagen. ⛪ Best viewpoint: Church of Our Saviour — If you have the CPH Card, I’d choose this over waiting more than an hour for the lift at Christiansborg Tower 😂 🏛️ More places I visited: Christiansborg Palace, Frederiksborg Slot, Grundtvig's Church, Experimentarium, Carlsberg Byen & Home of Carlsberg. 💳 My CPH Card tip: It was really useful for this trip as many attractions and transport were included. Just remember that some attractions still require advance booking, even with the card. ✨ My biggest takeaway: Copenhagen isn't a city where you just tick off a few famous landmarks and leave. I loved the mix of royal history, beautiful architecture, canals, museums and local neighbourhoods. 3 days was enough to get a taste of Copenhagen… but definitely not enough to make me want to leave! 😂 📌 Save this for your next Copenhagen trip! #Copenhagen #Denmark #CopenhagenTravel #DenmarkTravel #CopenhagenCard #CPHCard #TravelKOL #EuropeTravel #TravelTips #UnderratedSpots #TripMoments

I’ve been bringing clients to the Park Lane for years and have always been impressed, from making reservations to the quality of food, but above all, the staff's impeccable service. Hosting a large group of 14 guests, Tim and Viktor made us feel like the only clients in the hotel, even ensuring transportation during rainy days. Tim followed up to confirm the vans picked us up as taxis were impossible to get. Our clients praised the rooms and services, and I’m excited to return next year to this expertly managed hotel.

Highly recommending this little Western-style cafe. 📍Atelier September Recommending this small, Insta-worthy French-style cafe in Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The decor exudes a classy and elegant vibe, making it incredibly photogenic! 🍵🪔 The pastries here are an absolute must-try—super delicious with so many options to choose from. Everything goes perfectly together. It's a beautiful cafe with a lovely setup and a welcoming atmosphere. The owner is super sweet, and both the coffee and desserts are top-notch. Address: 227 9 Tha Sala Subdistrict, Tha Sala District, Nakhon Si Thammarat 80160

Before going to Denmark, I always heard that Nordic food was expensive and ordinary, but this time I completely changed my mind after going to Copenhagen! Whether it’s a croissant, Brunch, traditional Danish or Smørrebrød (open sandwich), it’s better than you think. The following are all I personally tried this time and sincerely recommend! 🥐 BUKA Bakery If you can only choose one bakery in Copenhagen, I would definitely recommend BUKA. Freshly baked daily croissants are crispy in layers and very buttery. I tried the strawberry cream croissant and raspberry pastry this time, the cream was not too sweet, with fresh fruit, very layered. The only drawback is that there are always queues, it is recommended to go a little early. 🥖 Hart Bageri Hart Bageri are super popular bakeries in Copenhagen, founded by world-class baker Richard Hart. Croissants, sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls are all very famous for their crispy outside and soft, buttery flavor. If you like bread, this is definitely worth a try. 🍳 Wulff & Konstali For a quality brunch, I recommend Wulff & Konstali the most. The most special thing here is that you can freely mix and match your own meals, smoked salmon, avocado, eggs, waffles, etc. are available, the portions are plentiful and the ingredients are fresh. The restaurant has a comfortable setting and is a very popular Brunch shop in Copenhagen, and it is recommended to go early or you may have to queue. 🍽️ Det Lille Apotek Founded in 1720, it is known as the oldest surviving restaurant in Copenhagen. According to legend, Andersen, the master of fairy tales, was once a regular here, so in addition to eating, it's like walking into Danish history. I tried their traditional Danish dish this time, with generous portions, rich sauce and very Nordic flavor. If you want to experience the most authentic Danish food culture, I think this is worth a visit. Overall, while Copenhagen is not cheap to consume, the quality of the ingredients is really very high, especially the butter, bread and seafood, which are impressive. If traveling to Copenhagen, I recommend budgeting a little more for delicious food, I believe you will not regret it! #Copenhagen #copenhagen #danishfood #danishfree #nordictravel #bukabakery #hartbageri #wulffkonstali #detliilleapotek #danish #smørrebrød #traveldenmark #europeanfood #travelfood #Copenhagenfood

Our 5‑day family adventure in Copenhagen quickly became one of our favourite European city breaks. Clean, easy to navigate, full of culture, and incredibly family‑friendly — it was the perfect mix of fun, learning, and cosy Scandinavian charm for our family of four. 📍 Day‑by‑Day Highlights · Day 1: Flew with Norwegian Airlines from Manchester and landed at 11am. A quick DSB train ride took us straight to København Central, where we checked into the Tivoli Hotel. Spent the afternoon exploring the local area and grabbing some food. #TravelDay #CopenhagenArrival · Day 2: Picked up a 72‑hour Copenhagen Card (£311 for 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child) — amazing value. Visited Rosenborg Castle, climbed The Round Tower (not included), and enjoyed immersive fun at IKONO. #CopenhagenCard #FamilyTravel · Day 3: A full day at Copenhagen Zoo, which was a huge hit with both kids. Finished with delicious sourdough pizza at Mother — highly recommend. #CopenhagenZoo #FoodieFinds · Day 4: Explored Christiansborg Palace, did some shopping, and visited the Museum of Illusions, Guinness World Records, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not — a brilliant mix of culture and fun. #CityExploring #FamilyFun · Day 5: Used the last of our Copenhagen Card to visit the Church of Our Saviour and the Experimentarium, before heading back to the airport for our 6pm flight home. #LastDayMagic #ScandiTrip 🎒 What Made the Trip Special · The Copenhagen Card made sightseeing easy and great value · Every attraction was clean, organised, and welcoming for families · The city is compact and simple to navigate by foot, metro, or bus · A perfect balance of history, creativity, nature, and hands‑on experiences Copenhagen is a city that blends culture, comfort, and family fun effortlessly. Introduction Copenhagen is the first city that’s ever made me consider living in another country. I can’t speak for all of Denmark, but from what I saw, the Danish really seem to have life figured out. What amazed me most was the level of trust: no barriers on transport, no ticket checks, and hardly any police or security. It probably says more about the UK, but if we had that level of trust, it would be broken instantly. The Copenhagen Card is something every city should offer. It’s clearly subsidised, because after a few attractions and some public transport, it pays for itself. It also encouraged us to try things we might not have booked otherwise. ⸻ Activities We visited for five days, with two being travel days. Here’s what we did: Day 1 Copenhagen Zoo – The best zoo I’ve ever visited. Seeing pandas was a dream, we spotted baby tigers, and the elephant enclosure was incredible—you get so close. There’s also an interactive area with baby goats you can pet. Home of Carlsberg – A self-guided tour with a welcome taster and a free 400ml beer at the end. Carlsberg isn’t popular in the UK, but in Denmark it was the best beer I had. Tivoli Gardens – We went on a Saturday night in late November, which was extremely busy, so we skipped the rides. Still, the scenery and lights alone were worth the visit. Day 2 Rosenborg Castle – Beautiful grounds and lots of history. It’s self-guided and doesn’t take long to see. Natural History Museum of Denmark – Just a short walk away. A quick visit with great photography and plenty of taxidermy. Botanical Gardens – In the same area, lovely scenery that’s probably even better in summer. We ended the day at Nyhavn, the colourful waterfront area you see on social media, then found a Scottish pub and enjoyed a few too many Carlsbergs. Day 3 A slow morning… Experimentarium – A hands-on science museum that made me feel like a kid again. We spent about three hours playing with everything and could’ve stayed longer. The rest of the day was relaxed: steak dinner and Christmas lights. ⸻ Hotel Copenhagen Island – A great stay with clean rooms and friendly staff. It’s a five-minute walk to the nearest Metro and Subway station. ⸻ Good to know · It is expensive—no tourist traps, just genuinely high prices. · It’s not that cold for winter; similar to the rest of Europe. · Public transport is excellent and easy to navigate. · No language barrier at all—everyone we met spoke English.

📍Trip Overview 🚩Travel Route 🏖️Must-See Attractions 🚇How to Get There 📷Photo Spots 🍜Recommended Food 🏠Accommodation Recommendations 💡Things to Watch Out For

During our trip to Denmark, we specially scheduled a day to visit the Experimentarium, and we were completely pleasantly surprised! From the moment we entered, it felt like a kid's paradise, filled with hands-on, interactive exhibits. Although quite crowded, the place was well-organized and didn't feel chaotic at all, making the overall experience very comfortable. It's also very considerate for parents. There are free lockers that can fit backpacks and coats, eliminating the need to lug around a lot. They also allow you to bring your own food and water, which is truly a relief. We brought sandwiches and fruit and found a spot to rest and refuel at noon. It was easy and convenient. Although there is a dedicated play area for children under five, my six-year-old couldn't enter. At first, he complained a little, "Why can't I play?" But he quickly became absorbed in the other exhibits and completely forgot about it. His biggest blast was the Bubble Hall! He spent almost two hours there, blowing bubbles, getting wrapped up in them, and constantly shouting, "Mom, look! I'm a bubble man!" The staff were also very friendly and eager to play with him, creating a very joyful atmosphere. He also couldn't stop enjoying the other science exhibits. When he saw the lightbulb actually light up while pedaling his bike, his eyes lit up and he exclaimed, "Wow, I'm generating electricity!" He also played with the interactive human body exhibit several times, finally coming to me and saying, "Mom, this is more fun than an amusement park!" Seeing him so happy, I thought the admission price was well worth it. We played from 10 a.m. until closing time and didn't want to leave at all. A quick reminder for those who want to go: Remember to bring your own lunch and water, and it's best to buy your tickets online; it's much cheaper and you don't have to wait in line. The Science Museum in Denmark is truly a must-see. We will definitely be back next time!
