If you're fit, go with a guide to the summit to see the surging sea of clouds. For casual visitors, looking back from the mountainside is stunning enough. · Stream Grass Slopes & Fairy Pool: Hike 2 kilometers west to the small pool, which reflects the blue sky and white clouds. Wildflowers (gentians and buttercups in July–August) cover the ground. Please don't chase the sheep or step on the flowers. 🚶Recommended routes (half-day relaxed/one-day in-depth) Half-day version: North Gate Visitor Center > Shuttle bus > Dishuiyan > Little Rhino Camp > Laogujian > Return (about 3 hours, easy). One-day version: Add a walk to the Stream Grass Slopes > Fairy Pool > Look back from the Guniu Mountain mountainside > Drink oat baba at the camp > Head down the mountain before 5:00 PM, stay in Huize County and eat copper pot beef. 💡Tips Altitude is 3,570–4,017 meters. Walk slowly, don't run or jump, and avoid showering on the first night. In summer, daytime temperatures are 20–25°C, dropping to 5–8°C at night, so always pack a windbreaker or light down jacket. UV levels are like those on a snowy mountain, so bring the "three-piece set": hat, sunglasses, and SPF 50 sunscreen. If driving, park at the North Gate; you must take the shuttle bus inside the scenic area. The mountain gradually closes after October. The grass is greenest and wildflowers are most vibrant from June to September.
