Next up, we checked into a cozy local homestay in Kabayan to recharge—gotta grab every possible wink when facing a 1:00 AM trek start! The Ambangeg Trail (also called the “Artista Trail” for how beginner-friendly it is) was waiting for us. Trust: even if the trail is chill by day, setting off in the absolute pitch-black freezing cold is intense. Picture me wearing every layer I own and still shivering—fashion: hiker chic with a side of icy fog. Grinding through the mossy forest in total darkness was absolutely surreal.
