#slowtraveling During my recent slow travel getaway to Teluk Cempedak, we decided to have dinner right by the seaside at the Italian bistro located at Hyatt Regency Kuantan. While there is an outdoor deck, we chose to dine indoors. The beautiful indoor space features large glass windows, allowing us to stay perfectly cool in the air conditioning while still enjoying the lovely, peaceful views of the South China Sea. As usual, we started our dinner with complimentary homemade focaccia bread served with balsamic and olive oil. For our mains, we had 200g Australia grain fed beef tenderloin. The meat itself was tender and juicy. We also had pesto pasta for our carb intake. The homemade spaghetti was cooked el dente and bursting with the fragrant smell of pine nuts and basil. We ended our dinner with house specialty tiramisu. The tiramisu was smooth, creamy, and hit the spot perfectly with its rich coffee notes. We had a joyful and satisfying dinner. The experience starts with a short sharing session by the turtle conservation team. They’ll explain interesting facts about sea turtles — like why out of every 1,000 eggs hatched here, only 1–2 turtles may eventually return to lay eggs, how a turtle’s gender is determined, and why turtle conservation is so important. While we were listening, the conservation team was already patrolling different nesting spots along the beach, checking if any turtles had come ashore. At around 10:30 PM, they told us that one turtle had reached her nesting spot and started laying eggs, so we could finally go and watch! After laying her eggs, she spent quite a while covering the nest with sand. At this point, we were allowed to take photos and even get a photo with her~ ✨ The conservation team noticed that RITA kept watching the turtle because she was worried about whether the eggs would be taken away or eaten. So they invited us to follow behind the mama turtle and accompany her all the way back to the sea. 🐢 She even took a little detour along the way, and the staff gently tapped her shell to guide her in the right direction — it was honestly so cute! At the end, we also watched the team carefully dig up all the eggs from the nest. ✨ The fee is RM65 for adults and RM45 for children. At first, I thought it was a little pricey, but after learning more about the conservation work and seeing the whole process, I honestly think it’s reasonable. The nesting spots are chosen naturally by the turtles, without human intervention. If a nesting area becomes unsuitable, the conservation team will add fresh sand. The beach is also patrolled 24/7 to prevent freshly laid turtle eggs from being stolen. All the eggs are then carefully transferred to the turtle conservation area for safe incubation. ✨ Important reminder when watching the turtles: TURN OFF your phone flashlight! ⚠️ Sea turtles aren’t afraid of noise, but they’re very sensitive to light. Overall, I’d say the cleanliness, service, and comfort level match the price point. You get what you pay for, right? For my first stay, I booked two different room types. We arrived around 8 PM, dropped our luggage, and went out for dinner. When we got back after 10 PM, we realized the air conditioner in our first room (P2 type) wasn’t working. I immediately contacted the front desk, but they told us there were no available rooms left. Since they understood that sleeping without air conditioning wasn’t an option, they checked with the manager and upgraded us to a P3 room, which was a higher category than the one I originally booked. They even allowed us to stay in the upgraded room for both nights. At that point, I was really impressed with their service. That said, every place has its pros and cons. The cleanliness of the replacement room wasn’t exactly ideal, but thankfully I always travel with disposable bedding sets, so it wasn’t a huge issue for me. When I returned in May, I looked through hotels in Terengganu again. After comparing different options, I still felt this hotel looked newer than most others, so I decided to stay here again. This time, the cleanliness was noticeably better than during my previous visit. Honestly, at this price point, I can’t complain too much. Most people staying here are just stopping over before heading to the islands, and for a comfortable overnight stay before your island trip, I think it’s a pretty good choice. Overall, not a bad experience at all. I’d definitely stay here again on my next trip to Terengganu. P.S. A Memorable 3D2N Getaway in Kuantan, Pahang Had a wonderful 3D2N stay at the beautiful Swiss-Belhotel Kuantan, one of the best hotels to stay in while visiting Kuantan. The hotel offers a comfortable stay, excellent facilities, and a strategic location close to many attractions. Upon arrival, we visited Muka Atelier, a cozy and aesthetically pleasing café perfect for coffee lovers. We then enjoyed the famous Seaba Celup Tepung, where fresh seafood is served with crispy batter and breathtaking seaside views. For coffee breaks, HWC Coffee at East Coast Mall was a great stop to relax and recharge while exploring the city (served by this loveky lady). In the evening, we had a delicious dinner at Ana Ikan Bakar, known for its fresh seafood and authentic local flavors. Overall, Kuantan offers a perfect blend of great food, relaxing beaches, and vibrant café culture. Kuantan, Pahang- Malaysia 🇲🇾 turned out to be one of the most enjoyable short escapes I’ve had. The drive from Kuala Lumpur took around 3–4 hours, and the journey itself already felt relaxing with scenic highway views and peaceful stops along the way. Once we arrived, we checked into a comfortable hotel in the city centre with prices around RM100–150 (USD22–33) per night. Staying in town made everything super convenient because most cafés, attractions and food spots were only a short drive away. One thing that really surprised me about Kuantan was the café scene. The city is filled with so many hipster coffee shops and aesthetic cafés that honestly feel comparable to those in Kuala Lumpur. From cozy interiors to specialty coffee and desserts, every café had its own unique vibe. Café hopping in Kuantan became one of the best parts of the trip, especially during the rainy evenings with coffee in hand. ☕🌧️ In the evening, we headed to Teluk Cempedak to catch the sunset, and the atmosphere there was beautiful. The cool sea breeze, calming sound of the waves and golden sky created the perfect escape from busy city life. Later at night, we visited the iconic Kuantan Tower 188, where the city lights and river view looked absolutely stunning from above. Seeing Kuantan from the observation deck at night gave the city a completely different charm peaceful, modern and surprisingly beautiful. After that, we explored the local night market where the atmosphere was lively with street food, local snacks, drinks and people enjoying their evening walks. The night market made the trip feel more local and authentic, especially trying different foods while enjoying the relaxed Kuantan nightlife. Before heading back to Kuala Lumpur the next morning, we spent more time exploring cafés around the city and enjoying a slow brunch. Even though it was only a 2 days 1 night trip, Kuantan somehow felt refreshing and memorable. The mix of beach vibes, hipster cafés, peaceful nightlife and local food made the whole experience feel simple but special. It’s definitely one of those underrated cities that quietly makes you want to come back again.

The past few days in Kuantan, we stayed at Kuantan Imperium Seaview by AVANZEE and honestly, we loved the experience. Check-in was smooth, fast and hassle-free. The security guards and staff stationed near the mail room were friendly, welcoming and very accommodating, making the entire process feel easy and comfortable right from the beginning. Our unit was located on the 7th floor. The room was clean, spacious and beautifully designed with a modern aesthetic feel. It felt like a cozy studio apartment equipped with a simple kitchenette complete with microwave oven, water filter, kettle, refrigerator and kitchen utensils. Hairdryer and iron were also thoughtfully prepared inside the built-in wall cupboard, giving the room a sleek and minimalist appearance. The TV came with Netflix and YouTube, though we barely had time to use them because Kuantan itself has so much to explore. Internet speed was decent too, which is important especially for travellers, foreigners or content creators who need reliable connectivity. The bathroom was modern, clean and well-maintained. Shampoo and bath gel were provided as well. One thing we really appreciated was the sleeping arrangement. Besides the main bed, there were also two very comfortable sofa beds. A family of four can easily stay here comfortably, or even more if travelling with young children. Extra pillows and blankets were also prepared in the cupboard. Location wise, it’s almost perfect. The property is peacefully located slightly away from the busy city centre, yet still close enough for convenience — just across a short bridge. This balance makes it feel like a relaxing seaside escape without being too isolated. The seaside is located directly beside the property and is only a short walk from the carpark. Every morning, we could see locals collecting clams along the shore. Their buckets were filled with white clams and edible sea snails, which was honestly quite fascinating to watch. The facilities here are excellent too. There’s a beautiful swimming pool, wet and dry playgrounds for children, barbecue area and plenty of family-friendly amenities, making it an ideal destination for a family getaway or staycation. But perhaps the highlight for us was the breathtaking view from the room. Being on the East Coast of Malaysia, we were treated to stunning sunrises every morning as the sunlight reflected beautifully across the crystal-clear sea water. Sunset views can also be enjoyed from the opposite side in the evening. Kuantan Tower 188, is currently the second tallest telecommunications tower in Malaysia after Menara Kuala Lumpur. The moment you reach the top, you’ll immediately understand why this place has become one of Kuantan’s most recognisable landmarks. The highlight here is definitely the breathtaking 360° panoramic view. From up above, you can see the entire city of Kuantan, the river, surrounding greenery, and even the distant coastline depending on the weather. The view feels especially calming when the wind starts blowing at the open deck, one of those simple moments that makes you just stop and appreciate the scenery. There’s also a Skywalk attraction where visitors can walk along the outer perimeter of the tower for an adrenaline experience. Unfortunately, it wasn’t available yet during my visit, so I only explored the observation areas instead. To be honest, there aren’t many activities to do here besides enjoying the panorama, visiting the observation deck, taking photos and videos, and soaking in the atmosphere from above. But that’s exactly the charm of this place, it’s more about slowing down and enjoying the view rather than rushing through activities. This time, I stayed 3 nights in Kuantan! I was truly amazed by this resort paradise by the South China Sea! It's truly like "living within the scenery" 🌊! 📍The location is super convenient! It's about a 30-minute taxi ride 🚗 from Kuantan Airport. Right outside the hotel is the famous Teluk Cempedak Beach, making it convenient to go anywhere! 🛏️Definitely choose a sea-view room! Who can understand the feeling of seeing the South China Sea sunrise right after opening the door! The rooms are renovated in a modern tropical style. I especially love the balcony 🌅 where you can feel the sea breeze as soon as you step out. The bathroom deserves praise! The wet and dry areas are separate and super clean. We reached around 6:40pm, just in time for dinner at Seaba Seafood — fresh seafood to start the trip right. After check-in, we headed out to Kuantan Uptown for a chill night walk. The next day was more family-paced. We visited the Pahang State Museum — fully air-conditioned, super kid-friendly. Had some ice cream there and honestly, it was so good 😭 Later, we had lunch at Jaman Tory Resepi — their ikan patin was a must-try. Back at the hotel, we spent time at the pool and beach. The most special moment — letting my baby experience grounding for the first time, feet touching the sand, waves slowly coming in… such a core memory. Last day was slow and simple. A Kuantan vacation is super chill. The hotel's beach is clean and great for photos, and the whole environment has a Bali vibe. It's about a 25-minute taxi ride from the airport. ✨There's a Starbucks and McDonald's nearby. It's not far from the city, but it feels completely secluded. ✅Definitely book a sea-view room. The balcony offers a spectacular sunrise 🌅, and that moment when the golden glow paints the sea red is truly worth the room rate. 🛌The room quality is excellent, the bedding is comfortable, and the 🛁wet/dry separated bathroom is clean and tidy. ✅The resort has two pools. 🏊‍♂️One large one is great for swimming, and the other has a poolside bar. 🥥Ordering a coconut ice drink and lounging for an afternoon is so relaxing. The gardens are well-maintained, the beach isn't crowded, and the sand is fine and soft. 🐚An evening stroll is very therapeutic. 🛝The kids' club offers a variety of activities, so parents with children don't need to worry. ✅Breakfast is at the beachfront restaurant, with a rich variety of options. 🍱There are both local and Western dishes. Eating breakfast with the sea breeze blowing is incredibly blissful. If you don't want to go out, the hotel bar has live music in the evenings, 🎶and the atmosphere is very chill.

People always say Kuantan doesn’t have much to offer. But last January, I went there with my husband and our child for a 3D2N trip just to see what Kuantan is really like. The journey from Shah Alam to Kuantan took us about 4 to 5 hours (we stopped quite a bit at R&R). On the first day, once we arrived, we checked in at Adena Beach Resort. You can check my previous post for my honest review of this place. The first day was our chill day. In the evening, we brought our child to swim at the resort pool, and at night we had dinner around Teluk Cempedak beach. On the second day, we decided to bring our child to Natural Batik Village, which is only about 1km from our resort (around 5 minutes drive). Entry is free, and it’s open every day, even on public holidays, from 10am to 7pm. We went around 11am on a weekday (not a public holiday), and there was literally no one else there, just us. The staff mentioned it can get a bit crowded on weekends, so plan your visit wisely. Inside Natural Batik Village, there are so many beautiful batik crafts like clothes, paintings, pouches, decorations, keychains, fridge magnets, and more. There are plenty of souvenir options at affordable prices, so honestly you don’t need to go to many places to shop. This place alone is more than enough. The area is also very spacious. Besides shopping and learning about batik, you can also try batik painting. It’s very family friendly, and if you have kids, they will definitely enjoy it. The price depends on the size of the painting. I chose the smallest size, which was RM15 each. There are many designs to choose from, and we picked a fish design. The painting area is quite big, and since it’s semi-outdoor, it feels even nicer with the breeze. After painting, you can let it dry under the sun, and later the staff will pack it for you to collect. Since we were staying at Adena Beach Resort nearby, we left it overnight and picked it up the next morning. You can see the final result in the last pictures! So if you’re traveling with family, especially with kids, don’t skip Natural Batik Village when you’re in Kuantan. Last month me & my small family decided to go for a short getaway @ Kuantan. I booked Adena Beach Resort like a year ago as many gave excellent reviews (used to be 4 star) at that moment & the rooms were always sold out so when I had the chance i didnt think twice and booked largest triple room beach view for us. Fast forward, on the day we checked in, we were surprised at how poor the condition & the room hygiene. My daughter found small debris of biscuits on the floor. There were molds on the toilet ceiling. The room i got was at the end of the building, in front of janitors room in which they always go in and out so it was quite uncomfortable. Fridge was smelly and furniture looks very old. Basically no beach/ocean view, all we got were the views of beach chalet roofs! Swimming pool was dirty on the first day we came & only go cleaned up on the second day. Despite all these we were very satisfied with the vibes & breakfast. I think their management need to do something about what most of customers complaint about (hygiene). Otherwise they'll definitely lose to the nearby resort (swiss garden) which provide far better service ambience and facilities but with almost same price. My advice, if you wanna come here, book beach chalet as it is nearer to the swimming pool and cafe area. #kuantantrip #kuantan

Very nice stay so far!! They have upgraded their decoration to luxury room view.. last time i went 2019 is so different than this year 2024.. Check in process smooth, staff is very friendly, food is good, they also provided Spa & Massage appointment-basis.. Im sure this is the best place to relax.
