Leping travel guide and discussion

Many have visited Longyuan Inn in Longquan, but few know this👇 This stunning red-walled ancient mansion's entire wooden structure actually comes from Leping, Jiangxi! It was the "Wang Family Sima Mansion," home to a prominent family in Yongshan, Leping, during the Daoguang to Tongzhi reigns of the Qing Dynasty🏛️ It is not a local Zhejiang structure; it is a century-old official residence of the Wang family that was moved thousands of miles from Jiangxi and reborn in a new location✨ 📍Original site: Wang Family Old Street, Yongshan, Leping, Jiangxi Built during the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the prominent Taiyuan Wang family of Yongshan in northeastern Jiangxi. This ancient mansion bears witness to the golden age of three generations of the Wang family: Wang Yishan (father) → Wang Xieshu (son) → Wang Zairen (grandson) During the Daoguang reign, the father, Wang Yishan, was known for his benevolence. He provided disaster relief, opened granaries to help the hungry, and funded bridges and schools for years. Due to his family's generations of charitable acts, the imperial court honored them by erecting a "Benevolent and Charitable" stone archway. From then on, the Wang family became renowned throughout Raozhou Prefecture🔥 During the chaotic Tongzhi reign, the second son, Wang Xieshu, became the head of the family. He organized provisions, recruited local militia, and exhausted his family fortune to support Zuo Zongtang in suppressing rebellions. Because of his outstanding contributions, he earned the deep respect of Zuo Zongtang, who personally inscribed the golden plaque "Sima Di" (Sima Mansion) as a gift to the Wang family. Both father and son were recommended by the imperial court and granted the official rank of Zhou Tong. The Wang family quickly rose to become a prestigious household, famous as both officials and merchants💫 The entire Sima Mansion was built with exquisite materials, constructed entirely from precious ginkgo wood. It features three courtyards, three light wells, and halls filled with intricate wood carvings. The beams, corbels, lattice windows, and caisson ceilings are all original carvings from the Daoguang and Tongzhi periods🪵 At its peak, Wang Family Street in Yongshan was incredibly prosperous. The Sima Mansion, the Zhoupan Mansion, and the Daifu Mansion stood side by side, complete with banks, pawnshops, schools, and an ancient stage. It was a truly prestigious and wealthy family in northeastern Jiangxi🏮 Wang Xieshu's son, Wang Zairen, was later granted the position of Zhoupan. Across three generations, the family's scholarly and official legacy was passed down. As time passed, the family gradually faded after the end of the Qing Dynasty, and the old mansion fell into disrepair. In 2005, this well-preserved ancient Wang family mansion from the Daoguang and Tongzhi periods was numbered piece by piece, carefully dismantled, and transported by truck. It traveled thousands of miles, moving from Leping, Jiangxi, to settle in Longquan, Zhejiang🚛 Today, what we see at Longyuan Inn: ✅All the ancient wooden frames, carved windows, beams, and caisson ceilings are the original, century-old components from the Wang family's Sima Mansion in Jiangxi. The red walls and courtyard gates were rebuilt during later renovations. One house holds the elegance of two dynasties, continuing the ancient charm across Jiangxi and Zhejiang🌿 What is most moving is that although the house was moved, the roots of the Wang family remain forever in Jiangxi. Most of the descendants of Wang Xieshu's main line still live in their ancestral home in Yongshan, Leping, Jiangxi. For a thousand years, the lineage has continued, with generations upholding the Wang family name. Other family members are scattered across northeastern Jiangxi and the Yangtze River Delta, generations adhering to the Wang family's tradition of farming, studying, and kindness💕 One ancient mansion, spanning two provinces, Jiangxi and Zhejiang, has witnessed the rise and fall of a family over a century. The old wood endures, and the ancient charm remains. This is the most healing and moving destiny of ancient architecture🌿 A gentle knock on the door knocker, the wooden chairs waiting quietly—it feels as if you can still hear the sounds of reading and the whispers of dawn and dusk from a century ago📖

Porcelain Feast Gathering | A Guide to Jingdezhen's Affordable Luxury Dining Many travelers come to the Porcelain Capital with their eyes fixed entirely on ceramics and pottery experiences, often overlooking the authentic feasts nurtured by this land. Jingdezhen cuisine blends wild ingredients from Fuliang mountains with fresh catches from Poyang Lake, and uniquely features a dining ritual where porcelain complements the meal. Exquisite private kitchens serve dishes on handmade porcelain plates, allowing you to savor both culinary flavors and ceramic aesthetics in one meal. This guide selects high-end private banquets, long-standing famous restaurants, and traditional street food, perfect for diners who value dining quality and want to deeply experience the Porcelain Capital's food culture. Recommended dining areas To immerse yourself in the atmosphere of a porcelain feast, we recommend garden-style private restaurants around the Imperial Kiln in Taoyangli, Zhushan District. These restaurants incorporate ceramic elements, with rockeries and flowing water paired with porcelain ornaments. The private rooms are quiet and secluded, and dishes are served with exclusive handmade porcelain tableware. After your meal, you can walk to visit the Imperial Kiln ruins, seamlessly connecting dining with sightseeing. If you prefer a panoramic city dining experience, you can choose high-rise view restaurants in the Taoxichuan area. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of the entire cultural and creative district, creating a fantastic atmosphere at sunset, perfect for small gatherings with friends or exquisite private banquets. If you prefer the original flavors of the mountains, farm-style private kitchens near Sanbao Pottery Village are worth choosing. Ingredients are sourced from the Fuliang mountains, the environment is quiet and peaceful, and you can taste mountain delicacies right after exploring the pottery village. Signature dishes for high-end banquets Porcelain-baked chicken is a unique signature dish of the Porcelain Capital. The free-range chicken is wrapped in lotus leaves, coated with porcelain clay, and slow-roasted over charcoal for a long time. The clay locks in the juices, making the chicken tender and falling off the bone, with a faint fragrance of lotus leaves and no heavy greasiness. It is a highly representative dish for banquets. Braised fish head with bean curd puffs is a classic hearty dish for local banquets. The specially made bean curd puffs are porous and absorb the rich, milky white fish soup. The fish head is slow-cooked over low heat, making the fish tender and the soup savory, spicy, and mellow—perfect for mixing with rice. There is also mandarin fish paste, where the fish is deboned, the soup is smooth, and it is served in blue and white porcelain bowls. It is fresh, fragrant, and gentle, suitable for diners with different tastes. Bitter tea tofu is sourced from the deep mountains of Fuliang, handmade from bitter tea seeds. It has a unique herbal fragrance and is stir-fried over high heat with fresh chili peppers, making it refreshing and palate-cleansing. Kaolin clay-braised pork is pork belly wrapped in lotus leaves and slow-braised. The meat is soft, waxy, and oily, rich but not greasy. Seasonal bamboo shoots stir-fried with cured meat, using fresh mountain bamboo shoots and aged cured meat, is full of "wok hei" and is a classic Gan cuisine dish. Traditional street food Beyond main meals, the old streets and alleys hide snacks passed down through generations in the Porcelain Capital. Jingdezhen cold noodles are thick, round, chewy, and smooth, served with dried orange peel, dried radish, and secret spicy oil for a unique flavor. Dumpling cakes come in green and white rice skins, filled with shredded radish, chives, and dried tofu. They have thin skins and are full of juice, making them a top choice for local breakfast. Fried dough sticks wrapped in sticky rice cakes are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, rolled in sesame and sugar for a sweet, layered flavor. There is also the "Qizhong" small meat, which are deep-fried pork tenderloin skewers coated with secret chili powder—spicy and satisfying. Beef bone noodles are well-marinated, with meaty beef bones and smooth rice noodles, making them a popular late-night snack. Old shops are concentrated around Fuzhou Alley and Mashi Alley, where you can try many local snacks at once. Souvenir selections Souvenirs for your return trip should balance quality with local characteristics. Fuliang Kung Fu black tea has an elegant aroma and is a classic tea of the Porcelain Capital. Leping peach blossom cakes are crispy and melt in your mouth, and the gift box packaging is presentable. There are also handmade frozen rice candies and fermented rice fish, which have authentic flavors. You can also choose small hand-painted porcelain dishes and cups, pairing food with porcelain gifts to bring back the taste and craftsmanship of the Porcelain Capital. Dining tips 1. For garden-style private banquet rooms, it is recommended to communicate in advance. You can adjust the spiciness as needed. Gan cuisine is fresh and spicy; if you do not eat spicy food, please inform the restaurant in advance. 2. Popular food stalls often have long queues during meal times. Try to dine during off-peak hours to avoid the evening rush. 3. Mountain ingredients are seasonal. When ordering, you can ask the restaurant about the fresh ingredients of the day and prioritize seasonal dishes. 4. Most snacks in the old town are concentrated in alleys. Parking is inconvenient for self-driving, so you can take a taxi for short distances. 5. When buying souvenirs, prioritize brand stores and pay attention to the expiration date. Store black tea and pastries properly.

Hidden in the lush mountains and valleys of Zhongbu Town, Leping City, Jiangxi Province, lie two breathtaking secret spots: Leping’s strange stone forest and the Water Curtain Cave! This secret area covers more than 20 square kilometers. With its towering strange stones and deep forest ravines, it is praised as “China’s finest stone forest.” It is a little-known natural treasure that remains largely untouched. The most remarkable feature of Leping’s strange stone forest is the world-famous “Five Wonders”: the tree wonder, stone wonder, water wonder, pit wonder, and climate wonder. Having long been isolated from the noise of the outside world and rarely disturbed by human activity, billions of years of geological evolution and natural carving have preserved the purest wild beauty here. Every plant, stone, and cave exudes a natural, unrefined charm and vitality. Entering the strange stone forest is like stepping into a giant natural stone museum. Jagged, bizarre stones fill the mountains and fields in countless shapes and forms. Each stone hides nature’s creativity—some resemble eagles about to take flight, others look like majestic lions, and some vividly resemble mythological figures or everyday objects. Every corner sparks the imagination and invites awe at nature’s incredible artistry. Complementing the strange stone forest is the Water Curtain Cave, which takes this wonder to the next level. Originally called Zhangguyan, the cave system stretches over 10 kilometers, with caves within caves connected like an underground maze. Surrounded by green mountains, a clear spring flows gently outside the cave. From a cliff more than 100 meters high, water cascades down like flying pearls and splashing jade, creating mist that gives the Water Curtain Cave its name. Inside the cave is another world. Looking up, countless stalactites hang from the ceiling—some like crystal bead curtains, translucent and sparkling, others like towering stone pillars reaching the roof. In the interplay of light and shadow, these countless stalactites seem alive, bringing the deep cave to life!

Suggested Itineraries (Half-day/Full-day) Half-day itinerary (suitable for nearby departures or a short visit): 09:00 Arrive at Chongjiao Temple, visit the mountain gate, courtyard, and take photos 09. 30 Enter the main hall, quietly observe Buddha statues, read inscriptions, listen to guided tours (if available) 10. 15 Walk around the courtyard, visit bell and drum towers and side halls 10. 45 After leaving the temple, stroll along Shangcheng Street and try local snacks 11. 30 Return or proceed to the next destination Full-day relaxed tour (including nearby attractions): Morning: Follow the half-day itinerary to visit Chongjiao Temple Noon: Have an authentic local lunch in town (try knife-cut noodles, fried pork, etc.) Afternoon: Drive to nearby attractions (options include Pingyao Ancient City, Qiao Family Courtyard, or local rural sites depending on distance and time) 6. Tickets and Opening Hours Small local temples usually charge low admission fees or are free to enter but may accept incense donations or small maintenance fees. Specific opening hours and ticket prices depend on temple announcements or local tourism authorities. It is advisable to call the local tourism service center or village/town office to confirm before departure. 7. Etiquette and Safety Tips Respect religious sites: Keep quiet inside the main hall and do not joke or play in front of Buddha statues. Check if photography is allowed before taking pictures (some statues or ceremonies may prohibit photography). Dress appropriately: Avoid overly revealing clothing and keep collars neat when entering halls. Incense and donations: Follow temple rules when burning incense or donating; do not forcibly inspect monks’ personal belongings. Sun protection and slip prevention: The temple grounds have many stone steps or wooden floors, so watch your step; bring sun protection and water in summer. Protect cultural relics: Do not touch or climb on ancient architectural elements or stone inscriptions. 8. Photography Tips Lighting: Morning and evening light is softer and better for photographing courtyards and hall facades. At noon, watch out for harsh highlights and shadows. Angles: Use the courtyard’s axial lines to capture the temple’s symmetrical beauty; close-ups can focus on plaques, wood carvings, and stone details. Cultural photos: When photographing monks or worshippers, ask for permission first and respect their privacy and beliefs. 9. Food, Accommodation, and Nearby Tourism Food: Shanxi snacks are abundant. Try knife-cut noodles, cat’s ears noodles, ti jian, fried pork, lamb offal soup, and other local specialties. Don’t forget to taste Shanxi’s famous aged vinegar. Accommodation: Basic inns are available in Xiyang County or Leping Town with simple conditions. For more comfort, consider staying in Jinzhong or Pingyao and commute the next day. Book in advance during holidays. Nearby attractions: Jinzhong and Pingyao regions have many cultural relics (such as Pingyao Ancient City, Qiao Family Courtyard, Chang Family Manor). Chongjiao Temple can be included as a stop on a Jinzhong cultural tour. 10. Practical Tips Confirm routes and traffic conditions with your phone map before traveling; download offline maps in case of poor signal in remote areas. Bring your ID and other documents, and have enough cash and mobile payment options (some small shops prefer mobile payments). If planning to participate in temple activities or shoot large scenes, communicate with the temple in advance to avoid disturbing religious events. Respect local customs and be polite when interacting with residents, especially in rural areas.

On July 25, 2026, the "Jingdezhen Porcelain Industry Heritage Site" was officially inscribed on the World Heritage List! This is the world's first ceramic-themed World Heritage Site. Now is the perfect time to visit! Grab this newly released 3-day, 2-night travel guide, focusing on a smooth and safe route! 🤏 🚗【Transportation】 For high-speed rail, Jingdezhen North Station is the best choice. It's close to the city center, a 15-20 minute taxi ride costing around 25 yuan. For exploring the city, renting an electric scooter is highly recommended 🛵. It costs 30-50 yuan per day. The ride from the Sculpture Porcelain Factory to Sanbao Village takes only 15 minutes, and it's incredibly convenient to stop and go as you please. Taxi fares start at only 7 yuan, and most attractions within the city cost 10-20 yuan. However, for more distant places like Yaoli and Bingding Chai Kiln, it's recommended to hire a car (around 400 yuan/day) or take a tourist bus. 🏠【Where to Stay Without Getting Confused】 For convenient shopping and dining, the Taoxichuan/Imperial Kiln Factory area is the top choice. It's close to the market and has stunning night views. If you prefer a quiet and artistic atmosphere, stay in Sanbao Village. The air is fresh, perfect for relaxing, but it's a bit far from the city center. 💰【Budget Reference】 The main point is to cater to different budgets! A 3-day budget trip for students (excluding transportation) can be had for around 800 RMB (hostel accommodation + electric scooter + snacks). A more comfortable trip can be had for 1500-2000 RMB (better accommodation + occasional dining out + buying some small porcelain items). 🍜【Food Spots & Carb Paradise】 There are so many delicious foods in Jingdezhen! 🤤 · Breakfast staples: Cold rice noodles (thick noodles with orange peel are amazing!), and dumpling cakes (freshly steamed, soft skin and fragrant filling). · Snack king: The youtiao (fried dough sticks) wrapped in mochi at Chengxin Youtiao Shop – 4 RMB's worth of happiness! Crispy and crumbly, wrapped around chewy glutinous rice cakes. · Main dishes and late-night snacks: Fanji Beef Bone Rice Noodles, spicy and addictive, with beef bones stewed until tender; Tao Huohuo Jingde Kiln Hot Pot, a local favorite, with a uniquely flavorful kiln-fired broth. 🎮【Must-Visit Recommendation · 3 Days 2 Nights Itinerary】 Day 1: Historical Theme + Popular Spots Morning: China Ceramics Museum (Free, see the "Speechless Buddha" meme). Afternoon: Imperial Kiln Site + Imperial Kiln Museum (Core of a World Heritage Site, the red brick arched building is incredibly photogenic). Evening: Taoxichuan Cultural and Creative Street (An old porcelain factory converted into a market, great for browsing at night, full of original handmade works by young artists). Day 2: Artistic Theme + Hands-on Experiences Morning: Sculpture Porcelain Factory + Saturday Lotte Market (Find 3 bracelets for 10 yuan, experience the creativity of "Jingdezhen drifters"). Afternoon: Sanbao International Pottery Village (an artistic haven nestled in a valley, with ceramic installations lining the roadside. Find a studio to try pottery throwing; remember to ask about firing and shipping costs). Evening: Fuzhou Nong Snack Street (a vibrant, lively street where you can eat your way from one end to the other). Day 3: Surrounding Area (Choose one) Option A: Yaoli Ancient Town: A perfect spot for a leisurely stroll amidst the misty rain! Ming and Qing dynasty Hui-style architecture. Option B: Hongyan Wonderland: A karst cave with a constant temperature of 18℃, ideal for escaping the summer heat. Free admission with a transportation card. 💡【Tips & Tips for Avoiding Pitfalls】 1. Don't trust unlicensed tour guides: Free reservations are available through museum WeChat official accounts. 2. Be rational when shopping: Be wary of "master craftsmen" porcelain sold on the street; avoid overpriced items unless you're an expert. Have the shop ship large porcelain items via logistics; don't try to carry them yourself. 3. Wear comfortable shoes: Sanbao Village has many uphill sections, and the steps in Yaoli are slippery, so sneakers are the best choice. 4. Book your experience in advance: Popular pottery studios have queues of at least an hour on weekends, so it's best to book ahead. Jingdezhen truly is a place where even the air is filled with artistic energy 🍃, half history, half everyday life—go for it! I guarantee you'll want to go back! 💖

When visiting Jingdezhen in summer, don’t just stick to Taoxichuan and Sanbao Village! Starting from the city center, a 1-hour drive leads me to a hidden gem in Leping — Hongyan Wonderland · Underground Porcelain World. As soon as you enter the cave, it’s so cool! With a constant temperature of 18°C year-round, the scorching 40°C heat outside is instantly blocked out. My kid exclaimed, “Mom, this is even more comfortable than an air-conditioned room!” 😄 The cave’s scenery is truly breathtaking. All kinds of bizarrely shaped stalactites under colorful lights make you feel like you’ve stepped into a fairy-tale underworld. The kid was most excited about the scattered “porcelain shards” on the ground. I told him these might be treasures left by ancient people, and he immediately turned into an “archaeologist,” squatting down seriously “hunting for treasure” 😂. The 36-meter-high Jiutian Waterfall splashes water everywhere, creating a stunning visual impact. The whole visit takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, not tiring at all, very easy with a child. Afterward, a 5-minute walk takes you to the ancient water stage, a wooden structure built without nails or mortise joints, standing in the middle of a lotus pond.
